  1. They were willing to give up 2 firsts and a 2nd for a couple of reasons. 1. They need to win now. Staffords elbow is on borrowed time and Donald is contemplating retirement. Kupp is MVP caliber and their best opportunity is now. 2. Burns is talented, but if McVay thinks he is the missing piece for a 3 year championship run, those picks are late 1st vs early 1st and have much different value. If he's wrong and they become top 10 picks, it's a much different scenario and McVay could be moving on. It's a gamble either way. Fitts doesn't have the luxury of gambling right now and that's because of Tepper. He botched this whole GM/coach hiring and firing process. Fitts is under tremendous pressure not to screw up further the already screwed up situation keeping Rhule an extra 5 games caused.
  2. How many times are they going to keep running that play to Shenault?
  3. Shenault's gonna end up with a 1000 yards in this game. In motion anyway.
  4. People can also be very different in their work environment than they are in real life.
  5. If Brian Burns was Julius Peppers, LT, Aaron Donald, I'd say that the offer wasn't enough. He's good. He's Pro Bowl. He's not single handedly wrecking an entire offense. You have to look at the big picture over the next 3 years. A high teens 2nd this year, a likely 10-20 pick, possibly higher, the next 2, $30m per year in cap space to sign other players or a pro bowl DE/LB depending on scheme. I think you have to look beyond Burns and evaluate the best way to build the team moving forward. Fitts should have pulled the trigger.
  6. I'm still not sure how much Tepper is involved in decisions. We've seen him force his will for Watson on the FO, and how that turned out. Fitts has said he speaks with Tepper about things, which one could expect. My only concern is how much influence is Tepper exerting over personnel decisions. Ultimately, Fitts will take the fall when things go wrong. I think over the next few years we'll find out how much he really is involved and then be able to look back objectively at some of these moves. I have to admit I'm not a fan of the Burns non trade.
  7. Bot has a perfect troll rating vs the Huddle.
  8. It wasn't that we didn't like it when we did it to Ickey. It was the stupid camp competition. Either put him there or don't. But wasting time doing pointless battles doesn't help anyone when our oline had been a plug and play of rejects from other teams.
  9. Russ would take off, but they didn't really design a lot of plays designated for him to run. Not saying there weren't any, just not near to the extent we did with Cam. They were very focused on keeping him from taking RB type contact repeatedly.
  10. Exactly. They've sold themselves out so much to win now, they're going to crash. You have to be able to build through the draft. Anyone that thinks they're going to build a continual winner out of UDFAs, no matter how good McVay is, is fooling themselves.
  11. That didn't include trading DJ. That was Burns only with the picks acquired for CmC.
  12. You could pretty much have your choice of coaches with a setup like that to let them draft "their guys". The Panthers just need to do a huddle poll if they want the right answers.
  13. I have Mixon as my starting RB in 2 leagues this week.
  14. I don't think CmC was the face of the franchise anymore. It's hard to be the face from IR.
  15. I've been a pretty adamant supporter of Fitts during Rhule's tenure because of the micromanagement, but if he really did turn down 2 1sts and a 2nd without Tepper telling him no to the trade, he needs to go. If we did end up at 3, it's likely Stroud and Young are both gone. Replace your edge at 3 with Anderson, and if there is another QB that you really want, you have enough firepower in picks to move up to get him. 2 2nds this year and 4 future 1sts is a lot of muscle in the trade room. We aren't winning it all this year. This team needs to rebuild. All those picks from CmC and Burns could have taken this franchise a long way. Of course that's all speculation that Tepper hadn't interfered, but I keep getting that sinking gut feeling he's more like Jerry Jones than we think.
  16. I'm in the PNW and Walmarts here start doing inventory roll over about now. Socks go on sail usually 5 pair for a buck. Not sure about Charlotte area but that might be a great place for anyone looking to do a massive stock up for your drive for very little cost.
  17. Take a deep breath and don't worry until sausage is involved.
  18. That starts with a NFL caliber coach. Hopefully our brain trust has recognized this
  19. Their offensive line looks like ours last year. Burns likely wouldn't have made a huge impact on their season finish. I would have like to have both of those 1sts. Even if they weren't top 10 picks, which I believe they will be at least a top half in 24 and a top 10 in 25, you can still get some pretty high end talent at this picks. WR, LB, safety, center, DT can all be gotten mid to early 1st round and have an impact. Shoulda woulda coulda, we will see if it was worth it. If we do find out qb in the draft this year, having 2 1sts the next 2 years could have been really beneficial.
