Last add: I just looked at the stat line and thought I was seeing things. This was such a messy game, such a tough battle vs. your D line, I'm not sure I saw the same game they played! I would have totally expected the two QB stat lines to be reversed. R. Wilson 25/33 320 9.7 1 0 2-20 115.7 C. Newton 16/23 125 5.4 1 0 1-6 97.2 God, it seemed like Wilson did nothing but scramble and toss the ball when he had a chance. I have no idea how that became a 300 yd game! And with Newton, it seemed he could do no wrong most of the game. He did, iirc, miss two inexplicably, but the rest was pretty good. Totally amazed when I saw his yards at 125! 250, sure, on a dink-and-dunk day, but 125? Freaked me out. Does anyone else feel like they watched this game in the Twilight Zone? Both had good ratings, however, with Cam at 97 or something like that. Speaking of Cam, I saw some posts saying Cam sucks, but that's obviously not true. He stayed poised in a tough, frustrating game with a poor receiving corps. The kid can toss the rock. Give him a little O line and at least one more receiver - and maybe a new coaching staff - and he'll be awesome. Don't overreact. He's a keeper.

I wasn't talking about your receivers, either. I was talking about OUR receivers, the Seahawks'. You can't handicap your team properly if you're not objective. We have a very good stable of receivers, but because the vast majority of fans and analysts focus on pure #'s, yards catches, they don't actually look at the metrics. The Seahawks' receivers have excellent yards per play, YAC, excellent catch per target, etc. They are very good, but get fewer balls because it's a run first team and Wilson spreads it around very, very well.

Our receivers are far from scrubs. You should be figuring that out by now. It's a strength for our team.

Alright... they're kneelin', so I'm dealin'. The Good, Panthers: * AWESOME D-line * Cam was very good. Will have to watch replays to see if he was great. A couple throws were eyebrow raisers. Still, kept his cool, seemed to stay in command, mostly very accurate. * Your run game was great given the O-line! Much better than expected. You should have run more! The Good, Seahawks: * Russell Wilson * Receivers * D-backs * 4 balls ripped The Bad, Panthers: * D-line tired? * Secondary. When Wilson had time, they had little trouble completing passes. * Fumble * Coaching? I really wasn't focusing on your play calling, but I would have run a lot more. The Bad, Seahawks: * O line for 3 quarters. * D line, but expected. * Bevell! Brilliant to call that corner end zone twice in a row, though. * Run up the middle 1st down long after it had never worked. Still... did that tire your D-line? Overall, you guys are tough! Keep that D line, add an O line and a CB or S and you might be scary good. Been fun. Thanks for letting me visit. Good luck from here till the playoffs. Cheers

Beast Mode! Zone Bblocking! Your D-line the one getting tired? I've been yelling at Bevell... maybe I was wrong. Still lots of time left. Stressssssssssssss.............

Seattle emphasizes ball hawking. That's four they've knocked out today. At least we're doing *something* right!
-
You're welcome for the 40 yards.
-
Four drives to one, definitely. Embarrassingly, we only have 12 points off those four drives. Credit to your D.
-
In Thomas' defense, Williams is blazing fast and Jermaine Kearse has been unbelievable this off-season. Wilson kept raving about him the whole off-season.
-
Corrected.
-
May have been a bad call.
-
I was scared poopless they were going to go for it. Thank goodness they didn't.
-
Credit your D, absolutely. Less that fumble it's a a 9 - 7 or 13 - 7 game. We have got to score here. Thanks for the decent field position!
-
Yup. One of the things that makes him what he is.
-
If we don't do something to address your D-line our next drive, this game is over. Hell, might be over if we don't stop you this drive.
-
WTF? Why not try the FG???
-
Any other day, I'd say go for it on 4th, but not with the way your D-line is playing.
-
Block in the back non-call. Should have been off-setting penalties. God, that was obvious.
-
Not only is your D-line giving us fits, we can't get out of our own way with penalties. Christ.... At least we got the recovery. Let's see if we can do something with it. Your D-line shows why every football team should prioritize 1. Franchise QB 2. Trenches. 3. Trenches. 4. Trenches. 5. Trenches.
-
Nice pressure. Should have been 3 or 7 points. Could be the difference in the game right there. Our D-line may not survive this game. You guys are able to do what I suggested: Run, short passes. Russell doesn't have time to run the offense and the staff have not adjusted to the pressure. Seatle is in this game only because Wilson can move and throw on the run.
-
Impressive D-line. It's allowing them to keep 7 back. If you had any kind of secondary your D would be elite. Cam looking good. Whew... lucky to get on the board first. Russel 7 of 7 on the drive, though.
-
Nice drive, but that's just stubborn going at Sherman on 3rd down. They were doing great with the short game. smh Our turn.

Hey, y'all! Good morning! 10 AM? NFL scheduling sucks big fat rocks, but what'cha gonna do? On to the game! I've been thinking about it, and if there is ONE key to the game, and I've mentioned this before, it's Carpenter. He was a 1st round selection who has not been able to stay healthy. He's a big, stout OG who has played great when healthy. We're all thinking about Seattle's line based on who started last year and who will start today, but Seattle does more substituting than most teams to keep the line fresh. I suspect Carpenter is going to get a lot of reps today. particularly on clear run downs. If he plays like the first rounder he was, our O line can hold their own against your impressive D line. That is the key to the game because, if he plays that well and gets significant reps, it will mean Seattle's whole playbook is gonna be available. Conversely, with the Legion of Boom and the quality of your receiving corps, Seattle should be able to stack the box and force Cam to throw into the Legion of Boom's territory, and that should be advantage: Seahawks. However, you do have Steve Smith and I am not one of those who minimizes his impact. But as good as Steve is, so is the L of B at what they do, so it's Smith's skill set isn't as big a problem for Seattle as it is for teams with lesser CBs. The two things you should be able to do is exploit the middle a little, at least based on last year. If Quinn's schemes don't address that softness, Cam can have a field day. The injuries on our D line and the less-than-stellar quality of your O line make that pretty much a push, I'd say, so we probably will not get great pressure on Cam. The caveat here is Quinn's system. We really don't know what that is. Regardless, it should take some significant amount of stunting and blitzing to disrupt Cam. Taht is what Quinn has been saying, though, that they would be aggressive, so I guess we'll find out. Basically, there are washes all over this game. It's an interesting match-up as we seem balanced by opposites. That is why the key is Carpenter. If one of the those opposing balances is tilted to even neutral, that equals an imbalance and an advantage. If Carp has a monster game, it should be a Seattle win. Here's to an injury-free game and no significant idiotic yellow flags that change the game. If you're grilling, have some fresh-caught blue crab for me! Good luck! Cheers!

Star, meet Max. Get past him, then you get to meet Russell.

I put what would be a good response on this thread on the "Defense" thread, so if you give a Panther's patootie, you can read it there. * Both teams play their best, Seattle by 3.5. * Seattle w/ jet lag, Seattle edges Carolina by ? * Carolina off their feed, Seattle by 7+. * Seattle off their feed, Carolina by 3.
