The Saints are still $55M over the cap after multiple moves
*FreeFua* replied to Ja Rhule's topic in Carolina Panthers
This was always expected. Right when they traded for him everyone knew he was a rental. -
Don’t need to restructure anyone to double the amount of cap space we have.
-
Tre Boston’s money can be used for the UDFA’s we sign. We won’t have many draft picks
-
Our cap situation could easily be much better with a few simple moves. I really don’t want to hear the excuse we don’t have the cap space this year. This could be a good year to sign guys who are looking for security versus one year deals so they can cash in next season. The cap will shoot back up next season so for the players choosing security, there will be value in signing them to long term deals.

Yep. Said this in another thread as well. Like you, I’m no cap genius but it doesn’t take a rocket scientist to figure out how to get them under again. The key for them is that they’re not paying/restructuring bad players. Our issue is that we’re always trying to get rid of contracts where as they’re ok with extending the guys they have. -
I’d rather have John Johnson if we are going to spend big on a safety but I don’t think we will

Next year, 31. Now with that said Kwon Alexander is still there with a 13.5 million dollar hit. He will be cut this year to save 13.5 million and has a 0 dead money hit. Ramczyk and Lattimore can both be extended this year to lower their 5th option hits of 10 million. I don’t see how they can afford to bring a guy like Marcus Williams back. They’ll have to maneuver things to keep what they have and add Wilson. But it’s not as impossible as some here think
-
The Saints have 60 million in cap space in 2022 and then 130 million in space in 2023. They will be fine.

I’m a big fan of Kollman’s content. This was made after Darnold’s first preseason in 2018. As a rookie I thought Sammy D looked pretty decent all things considered. Then in 2019... Adam Gase showed up. If Darnold is given a fresh start somewhere with a good coach I think the potential is still there.

McClain Insinuates Deshaun is Far-Fetched for Panthers
*FreeFua* replied to Troys99x4's topic in Carolina Panthers
Pretty much my thinking as well. If you’re the Jets or Dolphins how far are you willing to go when you’re already sitting in positions to either grab a top 3 QB or roll with the one you just drafted? I personally believe the Jets would be better off staying at 2 and trading down. The Dolphins are the ones who most scare me but they too have two 1st rounders this year. Obviously liked Tua enough to take him #5 overall. How desperate are they? And then there’s us... a new owner who is desperate to win games and is “obsessed” with Watson. At the end of the day, the Texans need to take who offers the most versus the difference between 5 spots in just this years draft. Tepper may just keeping tossing in picks until he gets a yes from Houston -

No doubting that. I just don’t think his 110% moves the needle as much as we need it to -

Literally the entire league thinks Cam’s arm is toast. Even the Patriots. His contact last season is all the evidence you need. -

McClain has been a step behind during this whole process -
Joe Person and Josh Klein are both well connected.

Here come the triggered emojis. It’s no secret there’s a couple teams that can offer better draft picks than we can this year. Have young QB’s on their roster. That article didn’t say anything we didn’t already know.
-
Why? Have you not figured out by now McClain writes what the Texans essentially want him to at times? I assume this is the same McClain that a week ago said there’s no chance they’d trade Watson? Or that he had a better chance of becoming head coach than the Texans trading Watson? Everyone already knows Carolina is going to have to sell the farm for Watson. Houston is awful. They shouldn’t be overly fixated on finding a QB than they should be getting the absolute most for Watson. If the Jets are offering the #2 pick and next years 1st but we are offering 4 1’s - I’m taking the 4 1’s. Putting any young QB into the situation they have going on down there won’t end well.

It literally takes 2 seconds to check this stuff. Did you even bother reading the article Shocker provided? 1) it’s old but 2) they outlined how easy it would be to save money. Which the Texans have already started to do. Right now Spotrac has the Texans with almost 20 million in cap space. Overthecap has them with 16 million in cap space. Maybe OTC hasn’t updated after the Duke Johnson cut? Either way, they can save another 6 million by cutting David Johnson but said they’d like to bring him back at a reduced cost. Which will free up more money. It’s also worth mentioning what draft picks Houston hold this year... I don’t think many of you realize just how AWFUL this Texans roster is. Now add in the fact they don’t have a pick till round 3... their immediate future isn’t looking good at all. Rarely if ever can you make an argument justifying why a team would be better off trading their superstar QB but this might actually be that time.

@TheRumGone I just realized the Seahawks actually traded this year AND next years 1st rounders for Adams. Not their 1st rounder last year. So even if they trade him and tank they don’t have a 1st rounder in 2022. And whoever they trade Wilson to isn’t going to suck. Yikes, they’re an even bigger mess than I initially thought. I’d probably hang onto him this year and hope for the best and then trade him next season. If they do trade him though, the Jets are laughing! Might end up having two top 10 picks next year. Which comes into play with the Watson thing...

This isn’t one of his misses.
