We need both Jones and Lance to go before our pick. I mean, sure that would be ideal but who is coming up and for who? I fully expect Fields, Sewell, Pitts and Chase gone by 8. With either Jones or Lance sitting there at 8. So unless a team wants one of those two I just don’t see who else someone would give up capital for.

And if all 3 are gone? Which is likely imo

I really can’t envision Sewell falling to 8 soooooo Even if he somehow managed to drop to 7, the Lions will take him or the Chargers will trade up to grab him

Right. It’s not as big of a no brainer as some are making it seem. There are some real concerns about Wilson’s durability and the Jets would’ve been dumb to make that trade before seeing his medicals given his shoulder history. It’s obvious most teams have Lawrence/Wilson 1-2 and then it’s all over the place. I think it also proves the legitimacy of the reports of the Jets FO being split on keeping Darnold versus trading him

Exactly. In 2-3 years from now if whoever we draft becomes the player you envisioned, does it really matter where he was drafted and what position he plays? Yes we need an LT but if Waddle becomes a pro bowl playmaker type are we really going to look back and complain we took him at 8? Same thing with Luke and CMC. I honestly trust Rhule and I know he wants to address the OL. So if we don’t go OL in round 1, I know he’ll address it after that.

Maybe @Vergeknows but I’d have to think there are some teams with Darrisaw as their LT2 with Slater or Sewell being most teams 1’s. I keep thinking Detroit goes OL or trade back. I know they lost all their WR’s but they need to build their lines on both sides of the ball. Plus if they’re going to give Goff a fighting chance they absolutely must keep him upright. I agree with your 8. I prefer 1-7 over Waddle though. I’d prefer trade back before Waddle I think. Chase is a true #1 like a Michael Thomas imo, doesn’t blow you away but does everything so well and has really strong hands. Waddle is that luxury playmaker like Tyreek Hill. I’d much rather have the true #1. Chase and Moore can move around. We REALLY need San Fran to actually take Mac at 3. That would move one of these 7 guys down for us at 8.

My fear is Sewell and Slater being gone by 8. Bengals take Sewell and Lions take Slater. Although the Bengals could take Slater since they just signed Reiff. Slater can play RT this season for them. And then the Dolphins take Sewell in this scenario. Let’s assume the Falcons are locked in on Pitts. I’d hope there would be opportunity to trade back if that’s the case. A team trying to jump in front of Denver for a QB.

I wouldn’t be too surprised if we go WR at 8. Last year, a certain WR would’ve been one of the targets had they traded back. I personally want Sewell or Slater and it’s not even up for debate. I don’t care about how deep this draft is at tackle. If they went and got tackles in rounds 1 and 2 I’d be thrilled about it. We all know how valuable a rookie contract for a QB is but the tackles spots aren’t too far behind. If we end up paying Darnold, rookie deals at LT and RT might be needed. Waddle may be this years version of the trade back target of last years draft. If Pitts was there he’d be the pick but that sure as hell ain’t happening so... Give me a damn LT

I dunno... Both the Chargers and especially the Vikings could go tackle. If they have Darrisaw as LT2 and really like him, take him at 8. Left tackle has been a massive need for way too long. But again, all depends what their board looks like. If they have 3-4 guys lumped in there closely then it makes sense to trade back but if Darrisaw is their clear #2... just take him
