I agree with your last part No rookie QB and new coach are coming here next year and winning a SB At best if we hit on our QB next in the draft we’re looking at being very competitive in 2025 (that’s best case scenario). Year 3 with our new QB and QB. The same year a new Derrick Brown deal would kick in. I’ll take the picks and new rookie deal with some extra cap space instead of a Derrick Brown contract I’m strictly talking Shaq, CMC and Derrick Brown. Burns, Chinn, Horn, unless someone is giving us the moon I’m keeping them. Although of those 3 I’m open to listening most on Chinn.

So to you that’s worth giving him a big contract (he’ll want to be one of the highest paid DT’s when his time comes) and losing out on more picks when we’re essentially starting a rebuild all over and lack draft capital?

What good will paying a non passing rushing DT a big contract when our hopefully franchise QB is entering year 3 of his rookie deal do? Brown’s value will never be higher than it is right now. The acquiring team will get him on his rookie deal with a 5th year option We aren’t going to be competitive next year. Brown will need a new deal by the time we are competitive again if everything goes according to plan. Burns will have a new deal then as well. Is it smart to have all that cap space tied up in 2 positions on the DL. Probably not. If Brown was getting to the QB then you’d have an argument He has 1 TFL and 0.5 of a sack this season. If someone is willing to give up a 1st rounder plus you have to do it.

Cool? We are rebuilding. I like Brown, he’s coming into his own but he’ll be on year 4 of his rookie deal next year. I’ll take a 1st rounder + for him. Those picks and cap space not being used on a DT will come in handy when we’re trying to build something around our hopefully franchise QB on a rookie deal

We play Atlanta twice in the next 4 weeks and I’m worried we might win one of those games which will absolutely f*ck us One of those games coming before the trade deadline. So trading off some of these guys needs to happen asap CMC, Shaq and I’m listening on Derrick Brown. Rookie deal who is coming into his own. I actually think he’s going to be a good player for a long time but again it’s a positional value thing. He’s in year 3 so if everything goes according to plan and we get our rookie QB, Brown will need a new contract in what will be our rookie QB’s 3rd season. I just think the money could be spent better than on a DT. Again, I am not giving Derrick Brown away. Someone would have to offer real value. I like Brown.

Yep which is what I’ve been trying to say. We also have a ton of space the following year and still have our “core” locked up which includes 4/5 starters on the OL I know you don’t like hearing it but getting the first overall pick so we can land our QB combined with the pieces we have locked up gives us a real shot at turning this thing around FAST. I’m not having a fire sale but if someone offers something of real value for CMC I’m trading him and the same goes for Derrick Brown

The guy I’m trying to trade is Derrick Brown I think he’s going to be good for a long time but if you can get a 1st and change for him you do it If everything goes according to plan and we get our high draft pick next year for a QB by the time we start to compete we’ll have to pay Brown. I don’t think paying him and Burns makes sense. So he’s definitely one I’m taking calls on The Jets should pair him and Q up together
