I think Murray ends up back in Dallas. The whole Eagles story is a blatant ploy to scare Jerry Jones.

That was a nice way Kelly put it, Kiko and Maxwell for McCoy. But what if he said Bradford for McCoy instead? They are paying Bradford more than McCoy. I'm also not buying Bradford is better than Foles either. Forget the fact he has missed like 31 games in 5 years and has an 18-30 record as a starter and has one of the lowest career YPA's ever, so yeah, he's going to look more accurate throwing shorter passes. I had to chuckle when Chip called him big and strong. He has to be the frailest 240 pounder I've ever seen.

We have a fortune tied up in TE already. O'Leary is as slow as my grandma too.

Please stop making ludicrous statements like calling Bersin and Boykin #2 WR's. You're doing yourself no favours at all. We get it, you want the team to get a legitimate #2WR for Cam. We all do. But stop saying the Panthers are doing nothing to help Cam. We just drafted a 1st round WR that hauled in over 1,000 yards and 11 TD's. We just extended Olsen another 3 years and Dickson too even if his role was limited. We've brought back Ginn to provide more competition and speed that we lacked last year. The draft is setting up nicely for another quality WR to fall to us, that is really the best option for us at this point. We don't have 30 mill in cap space that these other teams have, we are still on a limited budget. If we make stupid moves by paying 8-10 mil for a #2 WR we are going to be in a position where we can't extend Cam, Keek, Star or KK. I know you don't want to lose these players either, so please, sit tight and let this play out. Next year is the year we'll have cap room to spend like morons if we choose.

For all the back and forth arguing about how to build a team I'm sitting here looking at the starting QB's for those teams people are using as examples and it seems to me they had a bigger factor than anything. Manning Brady Rodgers Wilson Luck Brees Replace these guys with lower tier QB's and does anyone believe they are as good, never mind getting a sniff at the SB.

Sam Bradford + picks traded to Philly for Nick Foles
CelticCat replied to jamos14's topic in Carolina Panthers
With all the crap that Gruden talked last year I could definitely see them moving on and drafting HIS guy. Will the Titans regret passing on him too? or the Jets? We know what Foxy thinks about rookie QB's, they'll draft D. Philly has already given up next years #2 for Sam and can get a third rounder back if it fails. I think the Marriota talk is media driven after that trade. They still need massive help on D and now they have to replace the quality guys they've released too. -
Honestly, I hope we do. None of the FA WR's left really get me excited. I could see a Crabree, Nicks or Short added but we really need to draft someone young that can grow with Cam and Benji. I could see us going OT in round 1 like Collins and then someone like Sammy Coates in round 2.

Sam Bradford + picks traded to Philly for Nick Foles
CelticCat replied to jamos14's topic in Carolina Panthers
When I first heard the trade I figured the Eagles would be the team getting the draft picks. Then I heard a swap of 4th and 5ths and I just figured well Chip just wanted Bradford bad for some weird reason. Then when I found out they gave up a second rounder too I about shat myself from LOLing so hard. Fisher has to laughing his ass off tonight. I don't know if Foles is the answer for them but Bradford sure wasn't. Saved 13 mill too. -

I meant the team they'd be trading with. Who would want Sam that badly, id take Marcus over Sam all day everyday. Just a crazy trade IMO. I see literally no value in Sam today with his injury history. -

The only thing that I can think of is that Pat Shumur was also the OC in STL the year they drafted him, the year he was ROY. But that was along time ago. He was injury prone in college and it's proving the same in the Pro's. I really don't see the value in trading up for Mariotta here using Sam. Why not just draft Marcus themselves. -
Yeah, I kinda wanted him too but he got paid.

How on earth did the Rams pull this trade off? Not only is Bradford injury prone but he has one of the worst career YPA's of any QB in the NFL ever. Its worse than Tim Tebows FFS. They literally dumped cap space, got a better and more reliable QB and got better draft picks. Truly insane. -
LOL if players are gonna start blackballing Chip and the Eagles. Players like to play with other good players and Chip is ditching all of them apparently. Still, 10-6 the last two years. It's great to have cap space but you still have to compete with other teams and convince players to join, see Jax and Raiders.

So I'm watching NFL Live and I see Bill Polian has Terrell McClain rated as a grade B FA. Is he on drugs or is there another DT named Terrell McClain in the NFL?

So, nobody wants Nicks this year?

Derrick Morgan hints at meeting with the Panthers
CelticCat replied to Sam Mills Fan's topic in Carolina Panthers
Very interesting. This would be Gmans 1st decent contract handed out to a FA. I'd be shocked if he came cheap. -
Let them. I'd love to have him but not at that price.

Mel Kiper has us picking D.J. Humphries in his Mock 3.0
CelticCat replied to nctarheel0619's topic in Carolina Panthers
Not a fan of Shaq at 25 at all. DJ Jeremiah said he should be a second rounder and looks better as a RB than either LB or S. -
You said Overworked RB's don't last, ask Barry Sanders. What point were you trying to make if not that? Look, Barry was a strange cat, he didn't seem to care about awards (famously didn't attend the Heisman presentation and retired just short of Walter Peytons record) never made a scene when he scored a TD. But he didn't retire because he was overworked, papers were saying he was walking away at the top of his game at the time. Bobby Ross probably had more to do with it than anything.
-
Suh should be Raider.
-
This is not an argument about the lifespan or optimal years of a RB. Look, we all get slower the older we get, that's life. Its why the first thing I said was "Elite" RB's usually last a little longer and listed the current elite guys still producing past 28. Not many RB's last far past that, its a young mans game for sure. But bringing up Barry Sanders as an example is retarded.
-
You said something incredibly stupid about Barry Sanders. He was productive into his 30's and walked away because he lost his desire for the game in Detroit. I have heard him talk and he has stated he could have played a few more years. His body wasn't broken down from his carries like you're trying to imply.
-
I know this is in jest but Spiller is getting some serious hype of late. I'm all for adding him here as depth but he is not a bell cow. What was he, the #3 RB in Buffalo last year. LOL at Eagles fans thinking he is the answer to losing McCoy. If he really declined 5mil to stay in Buffalo he's nuts.
-
LOL, Barry Sanders WALKED AWAY healthy from the game because of his frustration with losing playing for the Lions. He actually wanted the Lions to release him but back then FA was in its infancy and the Lions were never gonna let him play for someone else. Here are Sanders last 3 years in Detroit: Age 28 1553 yards 11 TD's Age 29 2053 yards 11 TD's Age 30 1491 yards 4 TD's And that's just the rushing stats. He went to the Pro Bowl EVERY year he played. If you're going to spout nonsense at least educate yourself first. And we'll see soon enough what DeMarco is worth. Do you think Jammal Charles is suddenly gonna start sucking too?
-
I hope not, Stu is almost 28. Elite RB's usually last a tad longer ie Peterson, Lynch and Foster. DeMarco is FA's prized RB and even he's a year older than McCoy. While McCoy did get more carries under Kelly you have to remember they run a high tempo so they have more snaps per game. McCoy doesn't take punishing hits like Stu would take on either, he finds space and jukes those big hits. Now Kelly has to go out and replace these players he's letting go. His 1st rounder Smith looks like a bust and not many FA's have worked out bar Barwin and Jenkins that I can recall.
