Texans 2nd Round rookie diagnosed with leukemia
ladypanther replied to Mr. Scot's topic in Carolina Panthers
Hate to hear that for anyone. Wish him the best. -
https://bleacherreport.com/articles/10042893-nfl-players-set-up-to-fail-in-2022 Maybe not who you expect: The Carolina Panthers are putting a lot of eggs in the Brian Burns basket defensively in 2022. The 24-year-old is coming off his first Pro Bowl season and has proven to be a reliable pass-rusher. It's a good thing, too, because outside of Burns and Haason Reddick, the Panthers did not have much in the way of impact pass-rushers. Burns is talented but he also benefitted from the presence of Reddick and defensive tackle Morgan Fox. Fox may have only notched 1.5 sacks but, according to Next Gen Stats, he drew double teams at a similar rate as Chris Jones, Quinnen Williams and Ed Oliver. That allowed Burns and Reddick to rarely see extra attention. Now, Burns is going to be the undisputed star of the defensive front. This offseason, Fox went to the Los Angeles Chargers while Reddick went to Philadelphia. The Panthers are going to have to hope free agent Matt Ioannidis and Yetur Gross-Matos are able to blossom in 2022. Ioannidis, who played his first six seasons in Washington, is getting out of the shadow of Daron Payne and Jonathan Allen. Gross-Matos was a second-round pick by the Panthers in 2020 but has just six sacks in his first two seasons.

I have never said that Darnold was a football guy. I do not know if he loves football. He may but he does not appear to have what it takes. I did not defend him as a football player. He has been put in bad situations (last year it was our Oline). Given better situations, he may have been more successful than he has been but he now panics under pressure and makes bad decisions. He became a mess on the field. The money spent on him was a bad investment. (Rhule has made the Panther QB position a running NFL joke.) All I did was give Darnold some credit for handling things with class and you seem to think that makes me a weak minded fan.
-
You can be a person with class and still be a tough competitor...remember a guy here named Luke? Or the 1st guy we had here named Sam? I respect Darnold for the way he handled the Jet situation, the media really tried to get him to say something negative. Welcoming Baker as he did was a class move. Giving a guy a compliment for character should not be taken as a negative here. Who knows...maybe Baker will learn a little bit about that from Darnold. Hopefully Baker has been a little humbled and is ready to write a new narrative. Being a leader is complicated. Trying to be a bully is not the way to accomplish that. I want him to be a winner here. I am sure he is very motivated. But, he needs to be willing to get better as a QB and learn to be a better leader. I think he can do both. He was handed the keys and a big cup of ego in Cleveland at a young age. He did some good things. I would love to see him do great things in a Panther uniform.
-
Got to say Sam handles everything with class.

They changed that line in the last 30 min. Did say it would be worn later this year after the debut. Maybe in the playoffs?

Texans preemptively settle with 30 women
ladypanther replied to Mr. Scot's topic in Carolina Panthers
Sad truth is, that is Tepper had gotten his way, it would be a Panther mess. I have zero confidence in Tepper at this point. Good for the Texans washing their hands of it. -
@Zod Jeremy...seems like you always are optimistic...usually after watching at least some training camp. For me: Re Baker...Long before he was on the Panther radar...I thought his injuries were understated for the 2021 season and he took an unfair hit on his performance. Healthy Baker is a better Baker. Re Rhule. In over his head. It seems like Tepper has reigned him in some and made him defer to NFL football people. If that translates to game day as well...that is good. If not, do not expect much improvement for the team. (See my 3rd qtr thread) The Oline is improved...finally. Even Sam might play better with this line. With a few more real NFL coaches...I would say this team has to be better. As long as Rhule does not decide to screw things up. Tepper/Rhule...what did we do to deserve this?

I started a thread about this a few days ago. https://www.carolinahuddle.com/topic/177644-the-key-to-the-season/

McAdoo and Baker have a lot to prove this season. I know...if they do their job well it means Rhule stays. But hopefully Rhule learns that he does not have to be the smartest guy...he has to be smart enough to hire well and let the NFL football ppl do their job. I don't know if he has been humbled by being on the hottest seat...one can only hope. I am a Panther fan so I hope McAdoo and Baker have a great football marriage here. I want to see some damn wins!!! Thanks for those videos @Ivan The Awesome

Carolina Panthers are a mess, bad situation, etc.
ladypanther replied to NAS's topic in Carolina Panthers
I don't care to hear Bayless talk about anything. -
It is how the Panthers play in the 3rd quarter also meaning how the coaching staff makes adjustments. Since Rhule has been here the 3rd qtr performance has been awful, just awful. The Panther staff has been embarrassingly outcoached. Have to hope McAdoo has better half time skills and that Snow in his 3rd season has learned a lot....a whole lot. Maybe Wilkes can help. Glad to have him back. If the 3rd qtr performance does not improve, it does not matter who the starting QB is.

Bingo. That's the goal here...save Rhule's job. Darnold can't do it. Baker may be a bit better and seems to be the best this team can do. -

He is not going into coaching. He could have started down that path already but he has not. Obviously he does not want (or need that time commitment.) I bet he has talked with Greg since he is pursuing the broadcast route. Hoping he does well with this part time gig and it leads to big things ($$$$) for the future. I think it will take big money to compete with fishing.

Vegas odds on which head coach gets fired first this season
ladypanther replied to Zod's topic in Carolina Panthers
Well, this is a good take on things, IMO. The NFL forced Tepper on us because they loved his money. So far he is a disaster as an owner. My guess...from an NFL perspective...they do not give a dam. Panthers are not an NFL priority. Tepper was dumb enough to keep Hurney around to learn from him so sadly I have have very little faith in his NFL IQ. NFL screwed us. Tepper's ego will keep screwing us. Until Tepper admits he has no idea what he is doing and gives a competent NFL guy control, we will suck. What are the odds of that happening??? -
