  1. I am originally from Tenn. Damn...what a game. Amazing finish. Hooker got it done.
  2. So ppl criticize the media for not asking tough questions...someone does and he is wrong?

  4. My friends, we are here. We wanted hope...we wanted to talk about the future instead of the failed past which miserably seemed destined to repeat itself every week. 2 admissions....I am a homer and I am an optimist. But admit it...we all want to be here. I will get the first bold prediction out of the way...the Panthers will beat the Rams this Sunday. Wilks. So word was Tepper wanted an experienced HC for the next hire. Check. Failed??..Well, he only got 1 season in Arizona. Gee...how many times does that happen? I am sure there is a little motivation there. And.....how did he get on this staff in the first place? I cannot imagine that Rhule went out looking for previous head coaches who might replace him. Wilks was picked by someone else....so curious about who that was and obviously convinced Tepper forced the issue. Wilks seems like the anti Rhule. Not saying that Rhule was a bad guy...just a fish out of water. No doubt he wanted to succeed and meant well. Right off the bat Wilks fires 2 [Rhule] coaches. Forget about brass balls....he has real balls...not arrogance but confidence in his vision. We all loved the Wilks press conference. Not hype...just real. He is business, straight forward, and if you look closely, there is some affection there. OMG...we have someone who understands the heritage of this franchise. This is important...this is our soul. It gives the team meaning. Again, it means something to be a Panther. It means playing with a purpose. We did not need a damn brand. We had something more meaningful than that and thankfully we just got it it back. I cannot imagine that there is anyone who does not hope that this is the right place and the right time for Steve Wilks. What a story...hometown West Charlotte guy. Has paid his dues and although the Arizona experience was painful and ugly...seems like a guy that would learn from that. Wilks has a big challenge with the offense. I hope he can have a positive influence there. It was encouraging to see him spending time with McAdoo. QB situation...oh dear...but...a fresh perspective could not hurt. Offense please.....just stay on the field a little longer. Walker.....please please play a decent game. Bottom line....no surprise....I am hoping Wilks can turn things around and be the coach of the future. I know odds are against that but that does not seem to concern him. One of the reasons I like him...he says it is not about him. Wilks seems like the kind of guy that will really inspire players....and they will respect him and give their all for. Most importantly, Wilks is a Panther. He will not let the team forget who we are. I bet there are a lot of people out there who think the Panthers are a mess. Well, for the first time in years, I think we are not. I also think moving forward this team will surprise people. First up is the Rams. I will be watching on Sunday. GO PANTHERS. KEEP POUNDING!!
  5. Definitely sounds like the best plan. Rams are big favorites, so they do not need to take risks.
  6. Hope they get well soon...about 10 days sounds right.
  7. So...just curious. Tepper said the HC gets to pick his staff. But no way that Rhule hired a guy that was set to replace him. ??????
  8. I think quite a few OCs do that...go over plays with the QB, find out what they like, are comfortable with and what they are not comfortable with. Seems to make sense. At least I have heard that a few times before .
  9. Here are three potential trade assets for the Panthers: WR ROBBIE ANDERSON Anderson is one of pillars of the Rhule era. He is easily the most notable player from Rhule’s college reunion group on the team, and he has been the former head coach’s disciple since their days at Temple. That’s why it makes sense to trade Anderson with Rhule being pushed out of town. So far this season, Anderson has been a full-time starter and a part-time playmaker. He’s averaged just 2.6 catches per game, and his weekly average of 41.2 receiving yards per game has been pedestrian. Clearly, offensive coordinator Ben McAdoo is comfortable spreading the ball elsewhere. Anderson is signed through 2023 and could be a major asset for a playoff contender. Teams like the New York Giants, Dallas Cowboys and Tennessee Titans could all use wideout help, and Anderson is a genuine field-stretch when used properly. Anderson would have a massive dead-money hit of $9.72 million — according to Over the Cap — but he would also save the Panthers $1.23 million in a trade. A fifth-round pick seems reasonable for a role player who has another year left on his deal. DE MARQUIS HAYNES Playoff contenders typically try to add depth to rotational spots ahead of the trade deadline. Haynes, a rotational pass rusher, would fit that mold as a trade asset. The 28-year-old pass rusher could be a nice fit for a team like the Philadelphia Eagles, as the squad values pass-rushing depth. Haynes isn’t a starting-caliber player, but he can bring experience and athleticism to a rotation. With a cheap salary of $1.04 million, Haynes would only create $500,000 in dead money for the Panthers. He would also be very affordable for a playoff contender with a tight salary-cap situation. Haynes also has one more year on his contract — with a $1.44 million base salary in 2023 — so he has some long-term value in a deal. Like Anderson, a fifth-round pick would be a logical return for Haynes, who has eight career sacks on his resume. CB DONTE JACKSON Teams looking for starting cornerback help should key in on Jackson as a trade asset. Jackson is a talented and versatile corner, who could help a team with a banged up secondary. Just 27, Jackson has a lot of football left in his future. He’s signed through 2024 and should fetch a Day 2 pick in a trade. Jackson has produced 12 interceptions during his five-year career, and that playmaking ability should entice a team that feels like it needs an upgrade at cornerback. Jackson is still young and could help a playoff contender for a long time. While the Panthers shouldn’t rush to part with Jackson, the presence of Jaycee Horn could make them feel better about moving on from him with a strong return. If Jackson can fetch a second- or third-round pick, Fitterer should consider a swap. Read more at: https://www.charlotteobserver.com/sports/nfl/carolina-panthers/article267138446.html#storylink=cpy
  10. I know the Rivera's were very involved in the community..supported a lot of good causes. Have not heard the same for the Rhules. To be fair, it may have taken the Rivera's more than 2 years to get involved. That I do not know. I am sure someone here does. I may be totally wrong....again....let me know. Just seems like an interesting difference.
  11. Wow Scott. wow. Tepper was pretty much as ass through the entire pc, but never thought I would see anything like this. Watch out Scott...as you know Tepper is a vindictive bully...and a very rich one. Wonder if he is thinking about retirement or has another job lined up.
  12. What did he say? working...can't listen.
  13. Walker will be playing for his next job. At least he might get the ball to DJ. He has a better line than he has played with before.
  14. Isn't this generally the problem with college coaches in the NFL? Also, it is amusing the quote someone mentioned from Sean Payton, that the college HC's main job is to manage ppl...Rhule sure did manage Tepper. Handled him like a HS recruit. Tepper saying he would use consultants was the best thing I heard yesterday.
  15. He looked miserable and was testy. He 1st said that if Wilks does an "incredible job" he would be considered. The best thing I got out of it is that he said he would use consultants.
  16. Wow...he looked miserable. Was a wee bit hostile at times...lol. Best thing I heard him say was that one of the things he would do differently this time was use consultants.
  17. Who replaces what Holcomb and Wilkes were doing? And I assume there was an asst. ST coach for a reason.
  18. Rhule was a college coach...not an NFL coach. Not fair to eliminate other 1st time HC's who have shown success at building their side of the ball in the NFL. Also important, who are the coaches they would look to bring on to their staff. Bet they would be NFL guys.
  19. I had San Fran D on one of my teams. Did well this week.
  20. So, so far 3 coaches are gone leaving the staff a little shorthanded. How do they make up for that? Lots of games left.
  21. Also...fun fact: https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Al_Holcomb
