Josh McCown ‘having a blast’ in first NFL coaching job
ladypanther replied to ladypanther's topic in Carolina Panthers
I am thinking it will not take him long to be an OC...hopefully he does not get poached before the Panthers have an opening. -
Should be the whole stadium...save for a small visitor section. I remember years ago...MNF..the game against Tampa prob for the NFC South (which may have gotten Gruden fired)..I sat in lower level endzone...everyone was standing up the entire game. Every play. Also, another night game..I think against the Pats (we won)..the crowd was so crazy the stadium was shaking...I was told the TV announcers commented on it. It can be done. We just need a winner!!!

Projected Offense Starting Lineups for All 4 NFC South Teams

Kamara might not be available: Kamara is scheduled to be back in court on July 31. [ for the trial on the assault charge] Kamara is going to miss some time during training camp dealing with his legal issues. And an NFL suspension will likely follow regardless of the outcome. The league has a precedent of sidelining players for about six games whether or not they have been found guilty; violent charges like this are still a violation of the league’s personal conduct policy. https://saintswire.usatoday.com/2023/03/02/alvin-kamara-not-guilty-court-trial-date-saints-training-camp-schedule/ With video evidence...not sure how he could get out of this. That was awful. -
Panthers release Jacob Eason and Preston Williams
ladypanther replied to Dorian Gray's topic in Carolina Panthers
While it’s unlikely that the Panthers keep just three quarterbacks on their roster throughout the summer, Carolina might want to give Corral an extended look behind Dalton and Young. With just three players taking reps at quarterback, Corral could have heavy training camp and preseason workloads, which could factor into his evaluation by the new staff. Panthers release Jacob Eason and Preston Williams

Having someone like Dalton here for as long as you can makes the QB room better He can play if needed. he knows his role. Like Anderson did for Cam. Having an experienced QB backing up a young starting QB is just smart. -

Also...isn't this proposed rule change up for consideration at the league meetings next week? Third-quarterback rule: Teams would be allowed to carry 47 active players on game day, but the extra player would have to be a quarterback. Currently, teams are allowed to dress 46 players. The NFL used to allow teams to carry an emergency third quarterback on game day, but the league scrapped that rule in 2011. The rule came up again after the 49ers ran out of quarterbacks in their NFC title game loss to the Eagles. Don't know why they ever changed that in the 1st place.- 58 replies

He will certainly benefit from having Dalton there as well as McCown and the other coaching staff. Hope this has cheered him up a bit. -

Maybe Tampa will pick him up. -
https://www.nfl.com/news/ranking-the-eight-nfl-divisions-by-quarterback-afc-claims-top-three-spots-north- Adam Schein's ranking. As you might expect, the NFC South is last. Here are his comments on that: Regular readers know how much I love Derek Carr. He's eternally underrated, and I believe he will thrive with this change of scenery, especially if Michael Thomas can actually rekindle his career. But when Carr is the most accomplished quarterback in the division by a country mile, that's not ideal for the downtrodden NFC South. Now, I'm confident Young will live up to his draft pedigree as the No. 1 overall pick sooner than later. He's a beautiful mind at a cerebral position, a resilient gamer with immense toughness that belies his slight frame. Not to mention, the Panthers have surrounded him with a spectacular coaching staff that understands the position, including head coach Frank Reich, quarterbacks coach Josh McCown and senior assistant Jim Caldwell. This is going to work, even if/when Young suffers some rookie growing pains. Ridder's more of a question mark as a third-round pick entering Year 2. That said, I do think the Falcons can break through in Arthur Smith's third year on the job. He'll support Ridder with a potent running game, especially now that Bijan Robinson's in the backfield. I liked Ridder at lot at the University of Cincinnati, where he burnished his reputation as a fine leader and program frontman. He could be solid under the watchful eye of Smith, with a stout offensive line in front of him and a bevy of young weapons (Robinson, WR Drake London, TE Kyle Pitts) at his disposal. What's in store for Baker as a Buc? Who knows? This past season, he was bad in Carolina and solid in Los Angeles. He hasn't been legitimately good in years, though there is legit receiver talent around him in Tampa.

@LinvilleGorge any updates?

Oooooo...that sounds bad. For my own comfort I am going to remind myself that team has a batshit crazy owner. That should work right?

William Anderson Jr. is an American football defensive end for the Houston Texans

Isn't the speculation that they like Mayo for his successor when that finally does happen? Although got to wonder that if O'Brian does wonders with the offense.......Well if that happens BB might be around longer. What he did last year with the offense (BB that is) was just nuts.

Yep...and if any other teams do come sniffing around...Dave needs to open that wallet and convince then to stay another year. Another year of experience , if the Panthers do well, will help them be better prepared and let them be picky about where they go. IMHO. This will only be Evero's 2nd year as a coordinator. Brown will be under Reich's shadow at least this year.

They have 9 coaches who could be on the hot seat this year. https://www.the33rdteam.com/category/analysis/nine-nfl-coaches-on-hot-seat-entering-2023-season/ Barring a miracle Rivera will be gone. Wonder if Quinn is waiting on McCarthy to get the ax.

I am happy for CMC. He was my favorite player and was too good for the shitshow this team had become. I wish him nothing but the best. I hope he gets a ring with the 49ers, as long as it is not at the expense of the Panthers. If Young is the player that the coaches and Fitt think he is...this will be the best trade in Panther history. Still, I will always be a little sad that he is not a Panther.

Looking for a good home for this little guy ....now resolved
ladypanther replied to ladypanther's topic in Huddle Lounge
Good news...Eli got adopted on the 1st try. He is now in his forever home. I am so proud and happy for him. As I mentioned I have volunteered some time at the shelter. I spend time with whatever dogs/puppies they think need it the most and also do some walks. I have met some really amazing dogs. It is shocking the sweet animals that they have. How they ended up in the shelter is beyond me. Anyone interested in a dog or cat, please check out the ones at your local shelter 1st. You just might find your next best friend there. And anyone with a little extra time....or with a teen who needs something to do.....think of volunteering at your local shelter or humane society. 100% guarantee the animals will appreciate it.
