  1. Readers who participated in The Athletic’s fourth annual Panthers fan survey were overwhelmingly positive about the team’s direction with Frank Reich replacing Matt Rhule and No. 1 pick Bryce Young taking over after a three-year revolving door at quarterback. Nearly 700 fans (678 to be exact) took part in the survey over the holiday weekend, https://theathletic.com/4664020/2023/07/05/carolina-panthers-fan-survey-results/
  2. . This article details the development of ESPN from its founding in 1978, and its history since the channel's launch on September 7, 1979. https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/History_of_ESPN The well-liked and well-respected Soltys is an ESPN lifer having worked for ESPN for 98% of the network’s history. ESPN’s founder Bill Rasmussen brought him on board in 1980 as an unpaid intern. https://www.sportsbusinessjournal.com/Daily/Issues/2023/04/24/Media/mike-soltys-espn-layoffs.aspx
  3. Hope everyone has a happy and safe 4th.
  4. Well...it is amusing to me. Also gives the team an extra motivator....seems like a chip on the shoulder is a good thing. Should have a bulletin board full.
  5. With the NFL in a quiet period between post-draft minicamps and preseason training camps, it's time to reassess how all 32 teams built -- and maintained -- their rosters this offseason. Which franchises retained their high-end talent from last season, added impact contributors in free agency and found potential starters in April's draft? And on the flip side, which teams actually are in worse shape than in 2022? We asked ESPN football analysts Mike Clay and Seth Walder to rank NFL rosters from 1 to 32, then combined rankings to come up with our list of the league's best -- and worst. We asked them to rate each roster based on the talent, age and production of the players, not taking into account how some coaching staffs can squeeze the best out of their talent. Clay's rankings are powered by his 2023 projections, which include detailed stats and score predictions for every team. Clay detailed the strongest and weakest units for all 32 squads, while Walder picked X factors to watch and nonstarters to know across the league. The projected starting lineups below are via Clay's projections. Here's how each roster stacks up: ESPN + Continue reading this article and more from top writers, for only $9.99/mo. 6. As rated by the Washington Post: https://www.washingtonpost.com/food/2022/06/29/best-barbecue-sauce-taste-test/ 1. Great Value Original Barbecue Sauce (Walmart) Return to menu Score: 56 We did not see this one coming. We would never have predicted that the house brand for the mega-chain where you can buy both a grill itself and the stuff to put on it would be where we’d find our winner. But the unlikely champ — high fructose corn syrup and all — won over our panel by not offending anyone (no low scores to drag it down) and by offering a classic flavor profile. “Like old-school Burger King BBQ sauce,” said one nostalgia-struck taster. “Sweet without being ketchupy,” said another. Others praised it for being “complex,” “fruity and a little spicy” with a “honey BBQ” flavor. And while we know we’ll take plenty of heat for crowning a Wal-Mart sauce, the unexpected winner might help assure readers of our methodology. At least, as one editor put it, “no one will be able to say it wasn’t a blind test.”
  7. I think this wide receiving corps will be important as a group more than individuals. Each receiver needs to do well but will compliment each other. Seems like Bryce is smart enough to take advantage of that. Will a star emerge? Possibly, but I am not concerned with that. I think one of the advantages that this offense will have with these coaches and players is that they have so many options it will be tough to predict for the defense. Every receiver needs to play very well when called on. I do think Mingo will be a nice surprise. I expect Marshall and Theilen to do well. If those things happen, Chark will be causing problems...for the opposing Ds.

  9. The contract keeping the Carolina Panthers in Charlotte ended Friday. That doesn’t mean the team is preparing to find a new home, but the penalties Panthers owner David Tepper would face for relocating the team are now substantially less. The City of Charlotte and the Panthers signed their current agreement in 2013. There were several tethers keeping the team in Charlotte that lasted until the end of the 2022 season. Now the team wouldn’t face any penalties for moving. A Tepper Sports and Entertainment spokesperson and a spokesperson for the City of Charlotte provided statements in the current negotiations and commitment to keeping the team in the Queen City. TSE Spokesperson - “The Carolina Panthers and Charlotte FC are integral to the fabric of Charlotte and the Carolinas. Bank of America Stadium serves as a community asset that delivers world-class sports and entertainment to the area and we are proud to be a primary driver of economic development in uptown Charlotte and throughout the region.” City of Charlotte Spokesperson - “Tepper Sports and Entertainment have proven their commitment to Charlotte over the years by investing in our communities and bringing Charlotte FC to our city and making upgrades to Bank of America stadium. The Teppers and their organization have been outstanding allies, with investments in Charlotte that reach far beyond the field. We are optimistic about the future of our partnership” https://www.wbtv.com/2023/06/30/panthers-charlotte-current-stadium-agreement-ends-could-panthers-relocate/ Had not heard anything about this. Don't think they are going anywhere just an interesting little tidbit of news.
  10. In my case, when I called the manufacturer they said I needed to contact the retailer 1st (which I had done).
  11. A couple of years ago...I purchased a small Vizio TV to have set up by my computer ( I work from home...at that time all the time). The Vizio TV sucked.... was a "smart" TV but could not handle it...buffered constantly...impossible to watch anything.....Their tech told me they had an update (they did not)...after many complaints Vizio sent me a replacement...which had the same problem (did not matter whether wi fi or directly connected). Gave up on that mess. It will now be a computer monitor at some point. Won't buy another Vizio product. A few days ago Best Buy had a sale..there was an Insignia TV at a really really good price. Bought it online. Works great!! But......the stand (2 feet) are installed with 4 screws which were not in the package. Called Best Buy...no help...they told me I would have to take the TV into a Best Buy store for an exchange of the entire TV. There is not a Best Buy where I live...why I shopped online! I said "No Thanks." A few days later they sent me a $5 gift card. Called Insignia. They were nice...said they would ship out a new stand kit which would have the feet and the screws. Cool. Got it today. The outside of the box said it was the stand kit. Inside was a circuit board. Called them. Their best answer was to send me a $10 Best Buy gift card. I asked if they wanted the circuit board back. They said to drop it off at a Best Buy at my convenience. They could not send a shipping label to send it back. So....I needed 4 little screws.....not happening but have $15 in gift cards. And a circuit board....lol.

  14. lol....after Cam you are complaining about Bryce's wardrobe???
  15. Enjoyed watching this. It was good to see the conviction they had with their picks.. Liked it when Dan Morgan encouraged Fitt to "go with your gut." Also noticed that the draft room looks different than last year. Anything and everything looking different is a good thing.
  16. So terrible for anyone and their family.
  17. Thank you...45 min...will have to watch later. TY again for the link/
