  1. Good summary: https://www.washingtonpost.com/sports/2021/12/16/urban-meyer-nfl-failure/
  2. Just curious how many different Oline combinations the Panthers have played this season. I think I heard Sun that Tampa has played 2.
  3. Ryan Edwards @redwardsradio Per @AllbrightNFL just now on @KOAColorado , Teddy Bridgewater will be looking for multi-year contract in the range of $25 million per year in the offseason but acknowledges he doesn't expect the #Broncos to be the team to give him that contract
  4. I have been positive and been a good Panther homer all year. I am worn out. I cannot see myself saying "I think the Panthers win" anymore this year. Unless our new OC is some kind of genius....which will then tell us our HC is not.
  5. It is Luke Decock. At one time the Observer had a subscription just for sports that was just for sports. Not sure if they still do.
  6. These young sports writers at the Observer are giving us something different. Got the feeling the older ones would criticize or predict against the Panthers just to prove they were not homers. These young ones like Ellis (the newest) and Luke seem to be giving a lot more content. Hope Tepper is reading them. (He'll probably try to get them fired...lol)
  7. My father was in the Navy for 21 years. GO NAVY!!

  10. So...saw this pic and thought would add it to the discussion. This pic is in Elizabethton TN...which is about 1 hour from Asheville, NC. It is a small town. About 10 min away is Johnson City, TN...which is a much larger town, home of East Tennessee State University which has a medical school and a school of pharmacy. Elizabethton has 2 rivers which run through the center of town. A very clean recreational Lake, Watauga Lake is close by. The school system is divided into city schools and county schools...you definitely want the city schools. There is one high school in the city which the entire town supports. The football team played in their 3rd straight state championship game ls last week...they lost in 2 OT's...making it 2 of 3. The brother of the former Dallas TE, Jason Witten is the high school coach. (Their grandfather who raised them was the coach there for years and is a legend) Very small town feel...when I lived there...there was a parade for every home football game. The high school band is the pride of the town. (I should mention I was in the band for 4 years but I am not biased.) Have not been there enough lately to know about sports such as soccer. If you do not want that much of a small town...Johnson City is an option. No state income tax in TN but you will pay more sales tax. (Relative to NC...not Cali...lol) They do get more snow than we do. The pic below is the "Covered Bridge" taken last year. The bridge is the symbol of the town and was built in 1882. That area is worth checking out.
  11. For the NFC South more like power-less rankings. This one from NFL.com. Panthers at 25, Saints 26, Atlanta 28. Rank 25 1 Carolina Panthers 5-7 Previous rank: No. 24 The Panthers have a Christian McCaffrey conundrum. When this season comes to a conclusion, McCaffrey will have missed 23 of 33 games since signing the contract extension that made him the highest-paid running back in NFL history. Unfortunately for his brethren, McCaffrey has become the latest example of why teams paying running backs big money is bad business. McCaffrey will be back next season, but Matt Rhule and the braintrust (minus Joe Brady) will likely use the rest of the season as a barometer in deciding whether Chuba Hubbard is a worthy backup. If you're going to walk the CMC tightrope, you had better have a strong safety net. Rank 26 1 New Orleans Saints 5-7 Previous rank: No. 25 Taysom Hill added some much-needed excitement to the offense, but the desired result remained elusive for the Saints, who continued their stumble out of the playoff picture in a prime-time loss to the Cowboys. The game turned during a disastrous fourth-quarter sequence that featured three interceptions in six pass attempts by Hill, who was clearly affected by a finger injury suffered in the first half. New Orleans could still make noise with a win streak, but that’s not happening unless they get healthy at key spots along the offensive line (Terron Armstead, Ryan Ramczyk) and at running back (Alvin Kamara). Hill’s finger issue is a concern, as well, though it's unclear if it'll require surgery in the near term or if he'll be able to play through it. Rank 27 Chicago Bears 4-8 Previous rank: No. 27 It's hard to get very excited about watching the Bears right now, as the mostly quiet crowd at Soldier Field on Sunday afternoon will surely attest. Chicago is pretty much out of the NFC playoff picture, the embattled head coach seems like he's on a countdown clock to Jan. 10, and Justin Fields' injured ribs have kept him out of the lineup for two weeks and counting. Backup quarterback Andy Dalton made some unwelcome personal history against the Cardinals, tying a career high with four interceptions that led to 23 Arizona points. That's six losses in seven games for the Mouses of the Midway. Rank 28 Atlanta Falcons 5-7 Previous rank: No. 28 The financials connected to Matt Ryan make him the Falcons’ likely starter for the balance of this season and the next one, as well … but you wonder if Arthur Smith is entirely comfortable with that idea. It’s not fair to put Atlanta’s sleepy attack at the feet of the greatest quarterback the franchise has ever had, but a leaky offensive line combined with the 36-year-old’s poor pocket mobility has made for ugly football when the Falcons face a team with any pass rush. Perhaps Atlanta fixes this fatal flaw with a smart offseason of fortifications along the line, but this increasingly feels like a marriage in which a clean break would serve both sides well. Easier said than done, of course.
  12. But I am sure it was not his fault .https://denverfan.com/2096273/on-the-games-biggest-play-fangio-and-the-broncos-were-dazed-and-confused/
  13. https://www.cbssports.com/nfl/news/panthers-matt-rhule-remains-coveted-by-college-programs-but-hes-not-interested-as-of-now/ But numerous league and college sources said the NFL coach held in highest regard by many premier programs is Carolina coach Matt Rhule. Sources said LSU had Rhule atop their wish list -- it ended up hiring Brian Kelly from Notre Dame -- as did USC and Oklahoma, the latter yet to name a coach with Lincoln Riley going to USC. Programs put out major feelers for Rhule, sources said, a coach who revived programs at Temple and Baylor and produced staffs and players who excelled as well. Rhule is in his second year of what has been a rocky tenure with the Panthers, as that team struggles to find an offensive identity and, most importantly, someone to handle quarterback duties for more than a temporary basis. but college programs still wanted to gauge his interest before moving on with their searches. That is likely to remain the case next year, though it's hard to envision as many of these type of destination jobs opening up in 2022. Many close to Rhule have long maintained that the Penn State job would be the most difficult for him to turn down, but Nittany Lions coach James Franklin recently signed a long-term extension to stay in Happy Valley (though numerous college sources were adamant that he was hopeful of landing one of the several big jobs that opened up last month).
