  1. As I said before...they will spend a lot to get a guy who can't stay healthy. Let them tie up their resources.
  2. From what I saw watching one of the highlight videos someone posted here, did not look like AR ever set his feet when he threw. Some good coaching and a team around him, and he may be a very good QB (imagine if Cam had had those things). He is certainly an intriguing prospect.
  3. Wilson might be a guy who would have benefited from being able to sit for a year. The two QB's he is compared to there did not start right away. Because of where he was drafted there was not that luxury and it may have hurt him. Certainly he was not ready.
  4. Joe Person's article had an appropriate title: Panthers founder Jerry Richardson leaves behind enormous impact, troubled legacy JR was complicated. He could be known as incredibly generous. Person tells this story I had not heard before: Beane, who started working for the Panthers in 1998, recalled Richardson coming back to Bank of America Stadium one day shocked at how expensive gas had become. At the team’s next all-staff meeting, Richardson instituted a minimum salary for every full-time employee, including those who had been on an hourly wage scale. “People with that kind of money don’t always think about people who are at the bottom of the food chain,” Beane said. “That struck him, that gas was that expensive. And I just thought, ‘What owners would actually think about something like that?’” Beane also said: He’s one of the most successful businesspeople you can be around,” “Everything he touched turned to gold.” Also Person reports: Richardson remained out of public view after the sale. Until his health declined, Richardson would regularly go to his south Charlotte office, which oversaw charitable contributions of more than $500 million. Richardson allowed tight end Greg Olsen to use his private plane when Olsen’s son was born with a congenital heart defect in 2012. Long snapper J.J. Jansen, who has played more games than any player in Panthers history, came to Charlotte as a 23-year-old in 2009 with little familiarity with the franchise. He said Richardson, known as “Mister” or “Big Cat” around the Panthers’ facility, was almost “larger than life.” “To watch him glow when talking about this team and this city, and what it meant to him to not only have a football team where he grew up but to be able to bring that to this area, was always a very special thing to him,” Jansen said. “And that always meant a lot to me.” ........for all of Panthers founder Jerry Richardson’s business accomplishments and philanthropic efforts — his towering stature in Charlotte — his legacy also includes the troubling workplace misconduct allegations that cost him the team he loved and forever altered his perception in the city and around the NFL. Richardson died Wednesday night at his Charlotte home, 28 years after bringing the NFL to the Carolinas and five years after selling the team after a Sports Illustrated report detailed accusations that Richardson sexually harassed several women and directed a racial slur toward a team employee. https://theathletic.com/4269899/2023/03/03/jerry-richardson-dies-carolina-panthers/?source=dailyemail&campaign=601983 I was also reminded in something else I read that he paid for every team employee to go to the Super Bowl the 1st time the Panthers were there. An aside...it is very ironic that both he and Olsen's son that he helped before he was born, both needed heart transplants. There would not be NFL football in the Carolinas with out JR. His great passion for the area and football made it happen. It is hard to reconcile a man so generous and also abusive. I just don't understand. I appreciate him and am sad that his legacy was so tarnished by his misdeeds. I feel for his family, especially his wife. He got a lot of years out of that second heart for a man his age. It sounds like that he quietly continued to try to do good things and make a positive impact in the community. RIP JR
  5. Hooker seems like a really smart guy. That should play in his favor. He also takes care of the ball.
  6. Yep...I get the home page but cannot click on anything. Thanks for letting me know...ok...mods???
  7. Not trying to use the app...was using website link...worked fine for a very long time, until late today.
  8. Everything else on my phone is working fine. Just wondering before I call tech support for the phone. @Zod can you check this out?
  9. Per The Athletic: A police investigation found that LeCroy and Carter “were operating their vehicles in a manner consistent with racing shortly after leaving the downtown Athens area at about 2:30 a.m. The evidence demonstrated that both vehicles switched lanes, drove in the center turn lane, drove in opposite lanes of travel, overtook other motorists and drove at high rates of speed, in an apparent attempt to outdistance each other.” The ACCPD also reported that LeCroy was “traveling at about 104 miles per hour” shortly before the accident and her “blood alcohol concentration was .197 at the time of the crash.” The investigation concluded that “alcohol impairment, racing, reckless driving and speed were significant contributing factors to the crash.” Generally, before making charges the police consult with the district attorney, or whoever would be prosecuting the case. So the decision to charge Carter with two misdemeanors and nothing more would have been made jointly by the police and Athens-Clarke County district attorney. While aspects of the crash investigation are ongoing, this appears to represent finality, at least as far as major developments. https://theathletic.com/4264525/2023/03/01/jalen-carter-georgia-arrest-warrant/
  10. You can bet his lawyer and agent coached him up on how to show remorse and still walk that fine line of not saying anything that could be used against him in court.
  11. I would think that Jones best bet is to stay with the Giants. Maybe get some incentives in his contract.
  12. I just read something that mentioned that Robert Saleh is not at the combine. How common is it that for head coaches? I just assumed they would all be there.
  13. I never said either of those things. Where did that come from? I think he should be given the same legal consequences that anyone else would get. I do think what he and his friends did was incredibly stupid and reckless. They put the lives of other innocent people at risk. It is frightening to think that you or I could be driving down the road and be killed by idiots driving over 100 mph dodging from lane to lane. I would not want that guy on my team. A couple of our new coaches have mentioned how important it is to have players who are smart. I agree. And as I said earlier...would be hard to trust him. My guess is that he will get on a team when he legal situation is cleared.
  14. This behavior was such a stupid decision by everyone involved. Unfortunately it was also very tragic. Even if he somehow gets out of this with minimum legal consequences (and I do not think he should), do not see how any team could trust this guy. Leaving the scene????? He was drinking (my opinion)...and had no concern for his friends.
  15. The Panthers did interview him...once I think. guess the brain trust was not that impressed either.
  16. Good for her. She sounds like a smart and sound dedicated to what she is doing. She is young and likely has a nice career ahead of her. Also glad to hear that she found the Panther organization good to work for.
