https://profootballtalk.nbcsports.com/2023/05/16/christian-mccaffrey-terms-trade-as-the-best-thing-that-ever-happened-to-me/ Christian McCaffrey has admitted that he initially was “angry” with the Panthers for trading him. Now, after 14 games (including the postseason) and seven months with the 49ers, the star running back is counting his blessings. “In hindsight, I firmly believe it’s the best thing that ever happened to me,” McCaffrey said McCaffrey totaled 1,210 yards of offense and 10 total touchdowns with the 49ers, bringing his 2022 season total to 1,880 yards from scrimmage and 13 total touchdowns. “I say this with the utmost respect, this is a family,” McCaffrey said. “It’s the first time I felt like, even alumni, just getting to know these guys, it’s special; it’s different, and there’s a reason it’s sustainable and has been for so long. The word I would use now is, just very proud to be a part of this organization.”

Evero seems to like him. – Evero declined to veer into specifics on how they'll utilize Jeremy Chinn in the new defense. Chinn's a safety with the ability to play closer to the line of scrimmage and act like a linebacker. Evero said he wanted to prioritize playing time for Chinn as a player who can "do a lot of different things." "We think very highly of him," Evero said. "I think he's a heck of a player. He's a weapon that we're definitely going to try to utilize. And I know he's an asset for us to have." https://www.panthers.com/news/ejiro-evero-has-seen-great-improvement-in-early-offseason-program

Yea, the biggest problem the D had was having to be on the field so much.

Prime time is for better games/teams.
-
The Texans, Falcons, Cardinals and Colts don’t have a single prime-time game. https://theathletic.com/4512198/2023/05/12/nfl-schedule-2023-winners-losers/ And some think the Falcons have a shot to win the NFC South but they have no prime time games???

This is not your typical new coaching staff. HC has experience and is an experienced play caller. DC also not new to his role. The staff includes two wise old advisors...1 on each side of the ball. Team is not trying to turn around from a 1 win season. Roster is set up well for a rookie QB...lots of vet talent. Bryce is not walking in to the typical 1st draft pick team. Best QB room this team has had in a while with Dalton there to back up. Therefore, I think 10 wins is doable.

This coaching staff could have gotten a few more wins out of last year's team. I am doing the ultimate positive homer thing and saying I expect at least 10 wins.

However, not everyone is riding high on the Panthers' hype train. ESPN's Doug Kezirian doesn't even see Carolina eclipsing its win total from a year ago. "Under 7.5 wins.I am a Frank Reich believer, but what else is there to like? I think Carolina downgrades at quarterback with an undersized Bryce Young. Even in a weak division, the Panthers could compete for the league's worst record." [ SCHUYLER CALLIHAN SPORTS ILLUSTRATED CAROLINA PANTHERS NEWS] A downgrade at quarterback? From PJ Walker and Sam Darnold? Well, uh, that's quite the take. I'm not a gambling expert such as Kezirian, but I have Carolina winning ten games. In addition to an incredibly weak division, the Panthers also have games against the Texans, Colts, Bears, and Titans. It's a very favorable schedule. Sure, they may finish 8-9 or 9-8 but 7-10 or worse just doesn't seem possible unless there's a laundry list of injuries. College football fans are wondering how he maintained eligibility and did not graduate. To play football, you must attend class and carry a certain GPA. Georgia better hope that the NCAA doesn’t get too interested in this subject. https://www.msn.com/en-in/sports/other/cfb-world-laughs-at-stetson-bennett-news/ar-AA1b9tzf

With the Panthers never having achieved sustained competitiveness (no b2b winning seasons), I just don't think there really is a rival....just the entire NFC South. It seems to come down to which team someone hates the most. For me that has varied over the years. At one time or another, I've hated them all. This year, I hope we beat them all. Twice.

Loved his presser. Smart guy...handled all of the questions without hesitation. Sounds like he knows his stuff.

https://profootballtalk.nbcsports.com/2023/05/13/jalen-hurts-gets-a-masters-degree-from-oklaho Jalen Hurts ..................... received his master’s degree from Oklahoma. Hurts was awarded a master’s degree in human relations at a commencement ceremony on Friday night. Hurts began his college football career at Alabama and received a bachelor’s degree despite spending only three years with the Crimson Tide. He then spent one year playing at Oklahoma, where he began his graduate work, and finished the master’s degree while playing in the NFL. Hurts has said in interviews that he was inspired by his mother, who both worked and studied for her master’s degree while raising him. And now he’s the next member of his family to get his master’s. Good for him. Definitely a positive role model.

Wasn't it Boone where there was a police chase of a tractor a few months ago?
