  1. BY SCHUYLER CALLIHAN SPORTS ILLUSTRATED CAROLINA PANTHERS NEWS I'll list my top three honorable mention transactions which were the signings of RB Miles Sanders, TE Hayden Hurst, and S Vonn Bell. 5. Signing DL Shy Tuttle This isn't a "sexy" move by any means but it's one that will do wonders for someone like Derrick Brown. It's going to free up Derrick to make more plays in the passing game as he won't have to deal with as many double-teams. Tuttle has never been a stat machine but his value is far more important than numbers on a piece of paper. 4. Hiring Ejiro Evero as defensive coordinator Evero is a brilliant defensive mind that is going to coach his way into a head coaching job sooner than later. And for that very reason, he's ranked fourth. The next three guys will have an impact on the organization for several more years whereas Evero's stint in Carolina may only last a year or two. Regardless, this was a home run hire for the Panthers. 3. Re-signing C Bradley Bozeman Bringing back Bozeman is third? Oh heck yeah. Did you see how dominant the offensive line became when he took over the starting role? The whole mentality of the unit changed with him directing things up front which played a big part in their ability to run the ball at will on teams. 2. Drafting QB Bryce Young 1st overall The Panthers were tired of going through veterans looking for a second chance. They could have stayed at No. 9 and took the best QB available but that wasn't good enough. Fitterer made the aggressive move to go all the way up to No. 1 to take the best quarterback in the draft, Bryce Young. Giving up DJ Moore was difficult, I'm sure, but if Young stays healthy and lives up to the billing of a No. 1 pick, giving up Moore will be an afterthought. 1. Hiring Frank Reich as head coach Carolina once again feels like a serious football place. Reich is a well-respected coach in the league and has a history of working with successful quarterbacks and offenses. He was the perfect guy for the job and the coaching staff he assembled is one of the best I've ever seen. Just an all-around terrific hire by the Panthers. 2. You think they might get together for a film session?
  3. By the way, any guesses what Bryce will be doing during his "well-deserved break?"
  4. One big advantage Young has over Fields and other rookie QB's is the situation he came into. He did not get drafted by a team who earned the 1st pick in the draft the old fashioned way. He has a dream staff working with him from Reich, Brown, McCown, Caldwell, a good oline, and he is surrounded by good vets on the field...Sanders, Thielen, Hurst, Chark, not to mention some other talented players..Marshall, Shenault, Mingo, and then his best friend on the sideline Dalton.
  5. OTA Offseason Workouts: [ May 23rd-25th, May 31st-June 2nd,] June 5th-8th Mandatory Minicamp: June 13th-15th This is the final portion of early workouts before everyone heads off on a well-deserved break. The next stop after this will be the stifling heat of Spartanburg for training camp https://catcrave.com/posts/carolina-panthers-2023-ota-offseason-workouts-minicamps-schedule
  6. Here is hoping that is about to change. Won't turn around in 1 year but for the 1st time ever, this team needs to have a winning season, then another and another. While were are at it....take over the NFC South.
  7. I don't know how to turn either...I go down with freestyle stroke then I come back with backstroke (the latter really good for back muscles, which I need). Down and back is 2 laps...50 yds in the pool I use. Being in the water and moving is a lot better than not! Don't stress your muscles or joints too fast. Listen to your body. Be patient...you'll get there.
  8. It is 25 yds. 70.4 laps is a mile. When I 1st started I could not complete an entire lap. My advice, be patient. Set small goals and over time you will have made a lot of progress.
  9. It is the season for enthusiasm. Most people get better at their jobs with experience so I am thinking we got a better Frank Reich than Indy did. Also, he was kind of thrown into the HC job there after McDaniels did a 180 with some staff already hired. He has had time to plan and has surrounded himself with what has to be the best coaching staff the Panthers have had. So, it is fun to be excited about the team. If for some reason I am wrong and it does not work out, well, I have had a nice summer.
  10. Come on.....this trade was a win. Definitely right staff, right time. And, Bears will not be getting a high draft pick.
  11. Baby growing up...will take his/her 1st flight soon.
  12. https://www.charlotteobserver.com/sports/nfl/article276019871.html ..this staff has been a blessing," Thompson said. "Over 200 years in experience, so it's like, why wouldn't you feel comfortable? Everybody knows the game, they've been coaching for a long time. There's no reason not to be confident and comfortable with these coaches. All you got to do is get to know them." "Frank was with me honestly through that whole process. Just talking to me telling me like, 'Man, we really want you back' but he doesn't do the money thing. But he was calling me, texting me almost every day. Him and Pete [Hansen] and Coach [Ejiro] Evero reaching out to me telling me how much they would love to have me back and that I fit the defense and that was another big part of the reason I came back." . So, it was just weighing out do I want to be here or do I want to go somewhere else. Do I want to be with my brothers who I went to war with? Or do I want to go to a different team and meet new people? I'm a big, loyal guy, so I stay with my brothers. And I was like man, I'd rather win with you guys. If I lose, I'd rather lose with y'all. I definitely want to win a Super Bowl but I want to win one with them. I don't want to win one with anybody else."
  13. Finally there is an adult in the room. Was listening to Sirius earlier while in the car....they said "coaching matters." This will be a good team and will be very good very soon.
  14. Props to ESPN for continuing to cover this. Congratulations to the champion as well as all the amazing kids that participated. https://www.espn.com/espn/story/_/id/37777506/florida-dev-shah-wins-scripps-national-spelling-bee (It seems strange to say props to ESPN....lol)
  15. Reich was in a very dysfunctional organization with who knows how much drug crazed owner interference. Tepper let him assemble a dream team of a coaching staff. This team is hungry and staff ready to prove. New day in Pantherland and I think this team will surprise a lot of people.
  16. Good interview. Thanks for the link @GRWatcher. As for the rest of it, the media has no clue about the Panthers. They have just read a few headlines for years and formed opinions of no real value. Hope some of that crap makes it to print so it can be bulletin board material.
