Panthers have reached out to Minnesota for Kirk Cousins
OneBadCat replied to ncfan's topic in Carolina Panthers
Wtf man go big or go home. Cousins is just a super saiyan Teddy Bridgewater. He’s still ultimately a choker. -
No. Adamantly No. We trade him and we just create another hole at WR. Anderson has shown he can’t be trusted and TMJ is unproven. DJ is only 23/24. At this pace he might end up being one of our best we’ve ever drafted. He also hasn’t peaked yet.

Breer: Panthers "between a rock and a hard place" at quarterback
OneBadCat replied to Mr. Scot's topic in Carolina Panthers
We should get some decent lineman in FA and take the best O-lineman at #6. Or see what offers we get. We can’t really expect to draft a QB and expect to play him with the line we have right now. Let’s get the line fixed as good as we can and bring back Cam so he can beat out Darnold and at least have a respectable starter in place. -
At this rate it’s gonna take us at least 2 seasons to find a QB and be competitive. Might as well let him walk.

Draft day scenario - Could trading Burns be an option?
OneBadCat replied to SmokinwithWilly's topic in Carolina Panthers
Trading your blue chip players just creates another hole and the depth you thought once had ends up getting wiped out by one injury. Burns hasn’t peaked yet either and pass rushers are a premium and a cheat code to fielding a defense. He’s off limits in my opinion. If I had to trade him for the sake of the thread though. I’d want 3 firsts or two 2 firsts and two seconds . I’m not getting fuged in this trade. -
Not that I want to give the FO too much credit but to he honest I think CMC was extended because he’s a special player period. Not because he plays RB. He has HOF talent. CMC really needs more looks at WR. I agree with you that our philosophy historically has become a little dated but I also think the execution of that philosophy had faults. Keuchly was the GOAT. Having that kind of field general is priceless. He was our cheat code that kept our defense competitive when they had no business being on the field some years. QB is absolutely essential. A clutch one at that. But most SB teams with great QBs also have positions sprinkled with players that have overwhelming talent swinging the balance in your favor. So I don’t think keeping CMC was the problem so much as it is Ron and Rhule running him into the ground .

He literally outgunned Drew Brees in the 2017 playoffs. If Devin Funchess wasn't trash, that's another signature win and playoff run. He was on his way to eclipsing his 2015 season in 2018 before he was hurt. And I'm not one to harp super hard on stats because plenty of QB's padded their stats with checkdowns to look better than they actually were (Teddy Bridewater, Drew Candyass Brees) but when Cam was finally given safety valves in 2018, the media was all the sudden crowning his ass. Does that mean he was actually better or the opportunity for efficiency was there? I think you can make that argument for a lot of players. Cam could make all the throws and is the best passer this franchise has ever had. He just played the game like Brett Favre with legs, and that was what was best suited to him. If Matt Ryan had Cam's athleticism then he wouldn't have the stats he has either. Cam's greatest weakness was Ron Rivera leaning on the RPO to save his own ass when he as about to get fired. We should have kept going where Chud left off. Let Cam sling the ball over the field with his cannon. Ron learned he could just use Cam to convert 3rd downs and extend the primes of Williams and Stewart by eliminating the match ups in the ground game and serving his ball control offense. We ran the ball on first and second down more than most of the teams in the NFL during Rons tenure. We frequently put Cam in 3rd and long/miracle scenarios. He deserved a better coach.

Did you say the same of Delhomme when he selfishly tanked the franchise with multiple INT games for two seasons. Not reading the field with shitty mechanics. Just because Cam could run doesn’t mean he had to prove to anyone he could play the game like an average athlete. He literally carried the offense to 15-1 with scrubs with multiple freaks throws and clutch moments. And sometimes when your 6-5 240 and a sub 4.5, the smart play is run for 5 yards and a first then to trust Devin Funchess to catch the ball. If you look at way the Rivera the offense was ran and the statistical breakdowns of our play calls, we actually put Cam in very hard positions to succeed and more often than not he made it work. He was excellent in 2017/2018 before his shoulder got crushed.

WR missed his mark.

This is going to OT bare minimum

They’re about to set Burrow up for his Brady moment.

What happened to the first 5 yards rule?
-
Rams can run the ball if they want
