Too many first down throws getting botched by the WRs. That said Bryce missed those crucial overthrows. I love that he’s taking chances though.

I’m gonna see the silver lining here and say that it’s encouraging that Bryce is taking shots. WRs have had some crucial drops today. Yes he’s had overthrows but he’s getting aggressive which is what we need to see. -

For those that were Panthers Fans in 2008
OneBadCat replied to SaltAndPepper's topic in Carolina Panthers
No not really. I've always wondered what the tell Jake had that the Cardinals keyed in on in the playoff game. It was mentioned in a post game interview, but it wasn't gone into detail. Personally, I think it was a combination of him not being able to force the throws like he used to. Thus, it exposed his flaws processing the game, and he had an overreliance on Smitty. -

San Diego. Probably Delhomme's last good game that reminded you of the guy he was in 03. Monday Night (or Thursday?) vs Buccaneers at home. I went to that game and it was incredible to see Stewart and Williams just completely destroy a defense like that. I think at that time Stew and DWill were top 5 RB talents on their own. Smitty had a great game too.- 28 replies

Just hoping to see some leaps from Bryce and Mingo today. -
McDermott reportedly wasn't the biggest fan of Cam
OneBadCat replied to t96's topic in Carolina Panthers
You really think Cam recovering that ball was going to make a difference when he was already headhunted the entire game with no flags and we were cheated out of the biggest momentum play of the game (the Cotchery catch)? Not to mention the reason he doesn’t dive on it in the replay is because he’s anticipating the bounce and he was too tall to collapse on the football. It would have been 4th and a mile to go for a first anyway. That Super Bowl was the Manning the retirement game and everyone knew it. -

Bryce has to look great next year to keep my interest. Provided we also give him real weapons which is a must . -
Offense: Moton, Christensen, Bozeman, Icky(He deserves more time), Mingo, Tremble, Hubbard, Bryce Young (I guess) Defense: Luvu, Brown, Horn, Henderson(improved), Hill, Haynes, Chinn (one more shot), Yetur, DJ Johnson, Shaq because we probably can’t upgrade him. Special Teams: Jansen, Hekker, Eddie P.

McDermott reportedly wasn't the biggest fan of Cam
OneBadCat replied to t96's topic in Carolina Panthers
I think the simplification of the offense came from Rivera trying to keep his job rather than develop Cam the right direction which was what Chud was doing his rookie year. Additionally, I think a lot of people misjudge Cam's mental acumen for the game based on the fact that sometimes the best play is the simplest one with the highest probability of success. The Panthers ran the ball on first down more than most of the league throughout Ron's tenure here. Which also means we took away his short yard passing attempts. We put Cam into high pressure, 3rd and long situations all the time when the running game didn't work. Most of the time he delivered because he was a baller. And to be frank it was never Cam's job to play the game like somebody else and satisfy armchair QB's who watch historical stat padders like Drew Brees. I think often times Cam probably thought to himself, "why throw this 4 yard out to Funchess knowing damn well he's gonna drop the ball when I can pick it up myself?" In 2017/2018 under Turner Cam showed he could do the dink and dunk stuff and pad his stats and percentages. But all of that is really overrated because Teddy Two Gloves was a notorious stat king and he was ass. -

Not really understanding what the article or McDermott is trying to say? The quote isn't saying a whole lot.- 123 replies

The "LAST TIME" you had true hope/hype coming into the season....
OneBadCat replied to TheBigKat's topic in Carolina Panthers
I was hyped at the end of last year because I thought Wilks was going to get the job he earned and we would eventually resign Cam to get our big balls swag back. Then we would inevitably draft AR or Stroud as the heir to the Empire once Cam inflicted his justice upon the league for the NFL stealing his Super Bowl 8 years prior. We would still have DJ Moore, and Foreman(he wouldn’t want to leave). Burns would be playing with heart. Chark would be getting hit in stride. And the world would be at peace. -
He looks undersized even at his frame. He’s too built for finesse and not enough in the legs to power through people. Almost like he’s a basketball player just trying to spin around dudes.
-
I always liked Burns but we are kidding ourselves if we think he is an elite DE. He just doesn’t take over games and too often gets ran through in the running game. He also just doesn’t show up with the game on the line. The pass rush didn’t miss a beat with him out the other day. The last true complete elite DE we had here was Greg Hardy.

Chuba Hubbard Appreciation Thread

He’s grown a lot as a player and is maximizing his talent. I do wonder what his ceiling is though. -
Had he hit Chark in stride for a TD on that one play I would have had a new found hope. I’m still in a wait and see mode but leaning towards bust. He looks better without Frank though.
-
I thought we looked better for sure. The o line was a massive improvement today. Chubba looked good. Mingo was showing a lot of positives. Bryce looked better today overall. Loved that he finally got a deep shot completed to Chark. It was under thrown but hopefully it can boost his confidence. Still lacking a lot of speed and our routes are lame. The defense showed up yet again.

Mingo is growing at the position.
