I know what you mean, and how you feel. However, players and drafts aren't always simple math,. black and white and linear things. Sometimes the impression a player makes on the team, and how they feel they will said player will fit into their scheme's (along with some football and athletically) can be equally as important. This is why every draft year, there's tons of formerly highly regarded players who disappoint, and other 'lightly regarded' players who are considered steals. Unfortunately/despite what they want us to believe (he media), it's not a predictable science. Happens every year. NFL Brass, who get judged on this stuff much more severely than the normally wrong media, can attest to this.

You're not exactly going to get Calvin Johnson or Dez Bryant in the second rd. So you gotta give a little to get a little (actually a funch more) IMO!! If he's as good as Gettleman believes he is, then you will be a very happy Panther fan several months from now--entering the 2015 season.

So, would you rather have them go off someone Else's success or draft board!? I wonder, how that would have went over with The Huddle and Panther fans? All jokes aside: It's easy to knock a front office when their pick don't work out. However, based off the Panthers recent track record, I'll give a wait and see attitude, or the benefit of the doubt.

It's probably everything we mentioned. The 'word' is, he can't catch. However, not being able to catch is not always about stone hands. He may actually have good hands in isolation. Not being able to pick up the blitz, corners, pass rushes, and routes may confuse him enough to where he's lost on the play, and/or can't concentrate enough to catch the ball. Also, a lot of speed guys, can't cut and always run routes the best, relying mostly on their speed. Problem is; once NFL DB's back off of you, and/or play you physically, speed and finesse guys may not like it.

And maybe, he just doesn't know how to catch either!?

I was thinking same thing regarding his smarts. This means, the Panthers can integrate him faster/smoother into their offense. Another receiver, could be the most talented athletically. However, if he couldn't learn the offense and where the pass rush and secondary were, it wouldn't mean squat! Now when you combine his size, decent athletically abilty, and WR talents, you can understand why DG may have felt this way. Until proven otherwise, if DG's fine with it/him, so will I.

It's ironic, how many of the same Panther fans that were crying, shouting, and literally burning bridges advocating the Panthers bring Hardy back, are so silent/avoiding-why this is one of the reasons many of us didn't want him back in the first place!! There was too much uncertainly regarding Hardy, and the Panthers already had their fill of it last year (along with literally tossing away $13 mil). So what if it eventually gets reduced to 2-6 games? Look at the distraction he would have caused, again? And if he was still with the Panthers, the NFL would have probably tried to suspend him for the entire season. I read through the first 8 pages (albeit there's 24 and counting), and I haven't heard one Pro 'Bring Hardy Back' Advocate, and why it could have been a bad idea. Things like this are one of the reasons. Too funny.

How did the Panthers have such a good offense in 2011 and even 2012, along with winning 12-13 games in 2013?? It was cause of Newton's presence on offense. Shula's the reason (and Cam's injuries last year) why haters want to jump on this silly band wagon now when they never could before.

Be careful pointing that out. RG3 lead the league in that stat, and it was clear he threw a bunch, an assortment of LOS, beyond LOS, and short quick throws (mind you the high school offense they were running, and run game he relied on). So though it can mean something, that doesn't really mean anything when you actually can watch a player/team. And you have to keep in mind, Wilson/Seattle doesn't throw much either. They've been amongst the lowest attempts since his arrival in the league (not including the fact, the play action he gets off of having Lynch there). I hear what you're saying. And I'm not saying myself Wilson's bad. I'm just pointing out the hype/what's being said, doesn't necessarily correlate with what he's asked to to on a regular basis on the field. That's all, the issue.

Well said. Wilson's smart and certainly does certain things well. However, if you remove him off that Seattle team (lets' say, place him on Cam's Rookie year Panthers), then his deficiencies would stick out more often like a sore thumb. Actually, they already do. Many times when he scrambles around back there looking to throw his "Horse Shitz", is because he's not nearly as composed reading defenses as many believe, so many times can't see over, or react to the defense in order to throw the ball cleanly down field. Luckily for Wilson, he's not placed into those positions too often, thanks to Seattle's defense, playing calling, and/or their run game. You're right. Wilson's not often placed in throw only situations repeatedly. And the few times he does, it's still usually off of a quick throw to a predetermined receiver. He's very rarely asked to survey the field in the pocket, then throw the ball across or down the field, especially in tight windows....Nope! Not at all. They mask his deficiencies well over there (which is what good schemes and teams do for their players). Russell, just has more, and more glaring ones than most observers normally notice or would admit to.

Because some fans don't watch, understand the game or see it's subtle nuances. It's kinda like comparing Cam's first year to RG3's. There were many folks just going off RG3's stats. However, some Carolina fans actually watched the games, and could see Newton was asked to do way more in his offense (while being the one the offense relied responded on), as a primarily pocket QB who could run when needed. The Panthers had no legit run game since Newton's first season, until a few stretches last year with Stewart. Meanwhile, RG3 greatly relied on a gimmick offense, his 1500 yard rookie back, and an assortment of short, quick throws (off one read), so he could get rid of the ball (ala Kaepernick) aiding his success. Now I will admit, Wilson's maybe a bit more skilled than those two as an NFL QB. But not by much. They all have their strengths. The Seatlle GM is not far off. He knows, if you take Lynch off that team, Wilson could not carry that offense, as he's not the best pocket QB in the world, and would get killed or too tired if he had to run often to make yards as a first or secondary option.

We believe you. He's not their primary offensive option, and within the scheme of their offense, may not even be their most important offensive player (that lies with Marshawn Lynch). Why, cause he's not asked to lead or carry the offense, more so react to it. So when asked to throw the ball (when people expect need him to throw it), that would only make sense.

Just read the Huddle on Game day and you will see plenty (along with that/those variable thrown to pot).

People forget that, Cam into the NFL being the Panthers offense. He was relied on from day one, unlike Wilson. Newton's never had a consistent run attack since he came into the NFL. And the defense has been either awful or very good. And even when they're rated very good, they seemingly always find a knack to give up/blow games late in the 4th quarter. Of course the Special teams is usually awful as well, not aiding in the overall team or offensive effort. Wilson, never had to worry about these things with the luxury of leaning on Lynch, and a reliable defense (mind you a competent OC and Head coach).

Yeah, just look at what Harbaugh did for his QB's. This is for anyone that doubts what a good offensive system and defense can do to/for an average or below average QB.
