  1. I been saying all you said for a while. And Seattle's been amongst the lowest pass attempts in the NFL period, since drafting Wilson. Not just last year (as you probably know). Nonetheless, some want us to believe the offense revolves around Wilson, instead of Skittles despite this reality. And before people mention, Cam after Shula; keep in mind: 1)The Panther threw the ball almost 55% of the time, Newton's first 2 years. 2) Newton's never had a consistent run threat since his arrival, with the exception of Stewart during a certain stretch last year. So many times, the defense was stacked against Cam throwing or running the ball, and no one else. So the offense, started with Newton and no one else.
  2. Big Ben makes a lot of mistakes. His first few years, Superbowl runs he was a game manager BTW. Ever since, he takes lots of risk (holds to the ball too long, tries to wait for the big play etc., and gets in trouble). PS: Until last years injuries, Newton was a pencil in for top 10 QB as well. So what's your point? And I love how you give an insincere, one sentence response to everything I said above. Gotta luv the Huddle.
  3. Also Kaep and Wilson played in entirely different offenses than Cam, particularly his first two years. Wilson and Kaep's teams are amongst the lowest passing teams in the NFL, while Newton's Panther threw around 55% of the time his first two years, and often down field. So the passer ratings are more apples to oranges IMO. Just look at how Alex Smith and Kaep had virtually the same Passer Rating, despite Smith's previous bust status, and Kaep being a one read QB currently. It's the offense.
  4. I love how people talk about "consistency" and "footwork" in this thread as if they're absolutes, givens. Guess what!? A lot of good, very good and great QB's don't/didn't possess great consistency or Footwork! John Elway, Eli Manning, Brett Farve, Big Ben, Terry Bradshaw, etc., were never consistent passers. However, their teams rode with them through their various ups and downs. Its' a Strawman Argument; unattainable, and the proverbial moving of the goal post if I've ever seen it IMO. Usually big armed QB's will be inconsistent in general, particularly on short throws. And when you take more shots downfield, you're going to miss some/more as well. That's just the nature of the position. So it's as much the QB getting better in general, as his team allowing him the opportunity to ride out up and down patches till they get "hot" again. No QB is perfect. And most will have bad patches or stretches during a game or season. Count on it. So I hope that's not how many of you judge QB's (or is it only Cam)? Every QB every NFL weekend misses throws and receivers (including wide open ones). That's right! I said, everyone! Footwork, can also be a problem with a bad line and a dirty pocket. Preferably you would like to throw from a clean pocket often, with only a few from a dirty one. However, Newton never had that chance much it appears last year. The line was abysmal last year (not helped by Newton's injuries obviously). But guess what? You're going to make throws with poor footwork due to a dirty pocket. I've heard Dan Marino and other QB's talk about this often (saying they like to 'watch a QB who can throw off the backfoot, cause anyone can throw off the front foot in a clean pocket'). So newsflash: Newton will never eliminate those throws completely some of you. Nonetheless, love how certain posters take a year when both Newton and the OL struggled to stay on the field, then declare his following year as his "Make or Break" Stance for 2015, in late/April May at that. SMH Where were they after 2011, 2012, and 2013? So predictable.
  5. It's almost if they didn't see the same game the rest of us did in their desire to defend Wilson. The man was a virtual bystander during the Superbowl he won in that first half, when the defense scored or assisted on 20+ points, which was more than the offense scored during the second half when the game was virtually over. Not hating on Wilson. Those are just the facts/what happened.
  6. If you expect to get a response, I would advice you to clean up your language and hailing signals Sally. So you're saying the Seattle Defense didn't score about 20 points (and/or greatly assist the offense) before they scored any points on their own? And Yes, IRRC, the Seattle defense scored more points in the first half than the Seattle offense did. The Seattle offense, scored later, in the second half after the game was over (and the defense scored, and/or assisted on those points). Is that not true? Wilson and the Seattle defense, did virtually nothing the entire first half. I stand by that. Funny, how people forget/didn't watch or remember the game.
  7. How do you know this before he plays one game? Plus; Gettleman himself said on the radio this morning, He did/This is what he said. So what in the hell are you saying and smoking!?
  8. Shhhhh Cam appears to be only QB in the NFL with some Huddlers who can't miss throws, have a bad OL, and throw from a dirty pocket (i.e. his footwork). It's all his fault, cause he's so bad and not perfect.
  9. And look at everything that's come out SINCE HE WAS DRAFTED (Turf toe all year; 4:47 pro day; plays faster on the field; fluid runner/mover; smooth hips for a big man; 40" vertical leap, etc.). You were a bit too definitive there my friend (especially declaring him slow). Old/Improper news IMO. Let's just wait for the season to see what proves out, instead of believing in your own words.
  10. That's not speculation. Seattle's stacked for Wilson. You take Marshawn Lynch off that team, and I guarantee you Wilson's an ordinary QB. This is why he was spoon fed into the offense his first 2 years. And he still doesn't, throw first; downfield, or into tight windows. Point is: We've seen Eli carry that offense. We've never seen Wilson do it. He's secondary to what they do (which is the threat of Lynch running the ball, and everything works off that). Not bad mouthing Wilson (he's a serviceable NFL QB in the right system). Those are just the facts. Yes. Wilson playing on a bad team is hypothetical, cause it hasn't happened. Nonetheless, we've all seen what he does, or doesn't do in the Seattle offense. That's history and game footage. Note: Not sure The Giants would trade a 5'10" QB who can't throw successfully from the pocket for Eli under their current coach, talent, team and system. You'd be surprised how trading places can make a tremendous difference with player/QB success, or lack of it.
  11. Humongous luxury. One of the reasons that Eli has sucked the last few years (that most folks who don't watch the Giants wouldn't know), was the lack of a run game. When the Giants had that, Manning could play action then throw deep to those receivers. Now, people expect Manning to throw (or it's short and long due to poor run gains), so teams get to tee off on Manning all the time. Not sure Wilson could survive that, especially at his height/size (throwing over the pass rush, and the hits he would take) You're correct. Wilson is a TREMENDOUS luxury to have that most people don't seem to realize.
  12. That's debatable. Right now Eli's just in a bad situation. You do end up making a lot of turn overs, when you have to make plays, and you don't have play makers or a good run game. I would hate to see Wilson as the QB of a bad team.
  13. Please, specify what 'Poo I'm making up' instead of just giving me a random link? Come on little man. Please tell us what Wilson did during that superbowl which I was incorrect on?
  14. I was telling him the same. I essentially told him, 'It's easy to pick on Eli now. However, Eli did much more for his team during those super bowl years (much more) than Wilson ever did for Seattle during those runs'. I agree with you. It's not even close.
  15. Eli did more for the Giants during those super bowl years (much more I may add) than Wilson did during his. It's not even close. We can argue, that Eli is asked to do much more, and how the team and players around him sucked the past few years, etc.. However, Wilson's in the perfect system for him. So he won't turn the ball over as much. Two totally different situations. But if you're asking me, who was the better QB during their Superbowl runs, it was easily Eli. No contest.
  16. Maybe. But Eli actually makes throw down field, with out gimmicks (ala Wilson). Plus, the Seattle defense scored more points than the Seattle offense in that Superbowl. And they scored them all (the defense) before the offense scored their first point. So what in the hell, did Wilson actually do during that Superbowl, when Eli at least played great? Double standards (and still looking for attention) I see?
  17. How does this statement even make sense!!?? Shula, will have to get better in his play calling (along with the added new talent) , or get the hell out of the way for Cam to "Step Up" the way you would like him to. Come on now, use your noggin. And Cam's TO's under Chud were largely no different than under Shula (not enough to make such a big fuss). That's a straw man argument.
  18. Funny. Notice these same people never write post stating Shula or Rivera need to step up. But I guess it's easier to attract eyeballs when you discuss the QB.
  19. Do you really believe this/are prepared to look like a fool when the season starts? Must be looking for attention. I won't even comment anymore on this. SMH
  20. And just to think, I saw this post last night when I could have been the 2nd poster and avoided it. I wonder why!?
  21. Well hopefully, if he catches the ball wide open with all the attention KB, Funchess and Olsen will get, then he doesn't have to worry about getting hit, and just catch, then run with the damn ball. LOL
  22. Not sure if you're aware, but the Panthers apparently drafted a smaller burner type receiver, special teams guy from the Gamecocks (he's actually an UDFA) they signed). There's a post on it here somewhere. Nonetheless, I agree they will look for others as well.
  23. Those type of players, will see mismatches or breakdowns in the defense, presumably helping the offense avoid potential calamities, or making big plays.
  24. This, and picking guys that fit into your system and what you do, covet. Of course, it helps when the organization knows what they're doing and looking for. Obviously, the Pats have proven this. While the Panthers and DG, have had a good start the past few drafts.
  25. Yeah, let's hope KB improves, or that's what Cotch and Olsen will be there for? Nonetheless/I look at this way: We complained about having no other good, young receiver, and/or the Shaq Thompson pick (some of us). Now if the Panthers picked a guy at WR-who they really believed in, and he pans out (with some niggles)? That can only be a good thing, right?!!
