  1. Oh, ok; you're talking those wounded duck throws. LOL I thought you were talking about the ones that's a set play where he throws down field immediately. In the ones you're discussing, he's buying time. And for some reason, the defense doesn't cover the downfield receiver option adequately. I know what you mean though.
  2. It's the play calling. In the NFL at least. You never know when it's coming (those loopers/jump ball type throws) that get miraculously caught. On another NFL team, it might not work out so well.
  3. Bingo/Tilt!! Under Shula, people (especially some of/those so inclined) tend to forget all this.
  4. Wilson's really not that accurate. It's a misnomer. He rarely throws into coverage, especially down field. Wilson, also rarely throws to a 2nd or third option after surveying the field. He usually knows exactly who he's throwing to. Wilson, usually makes short passes into open receivers. Or he makes planned loopers to an intended receiver down midfield, as a long pass, then it's called accurate. That's the only long throw he can make. Not really that impressive, and only a little bit better than what RG3 or Kaep does.
  5. Yeah, just like EJ Manuel, Josh Freeman, Matt Ryan, and so many others who came back against the Panthers defense, even under incredible/dire circumstances. It's nothing new, no matter how good or bad the QB's are.
  6. The irony of what I'm reading in this thread: No matter what you guys, the media, so called draft experts and NFL personnel guys think, I guarantee you, some of the guys they say are studs will be flops. And some of the guys who are more lightly regarded and/or have alleged holes in their games, will be much better than advertised. Nonetheless, I love how people talk about these players (particularly the receivers) as if what people saying about them are written in stone when the season actually starts. And we're also not sure, who's going to rise, and who's going to plummet come draft day. Some always do. I say: Why not just put your trust in the idea that Gettlemen will hopefully make the best pick when it's his turn/comes available?
  7. And an OC who doesn't set him up for success by sticking with passing when he's in a rhythm or to get him in or. And who doesn't show short passes to start him off, then working his way to longer one after fooling the defense (which Shula rarely does).
  8. Remember, Cam has to be perfect in order to satisfy certain/many Huddler's.
  9. The sad part is: Newton was very good from the pocket his first year, and the read option only appeared situational or in sprinkling. He throws for almost 4100 yards. First half of his second year, Chud went overboard with the Read Option and it effected Cam's numbers. Hurney gets fired, so Chud and Rivera get the message, and Cam plays damn near perfectly from the pocket the second half of the year (and throws 155 pass attempts without an INT). He throws for almost 3900 yards this year. Third year Shula comes, and Cam throws less (the beginning of reducing his traditional QB role), while becoming more efficient with the excuse of a great defense that carried the team. He throws for 3100 yards. We can see the precipitous yardage decline. 4th year: Once again, Cam plays almost perfectly at QB to start the season (especially considering what was given to, and going on around him) for 4 games in a row after missing the first game. And then the increased emphasis on the read option, injuries, Shula going AWOL, and near death all combine to sabotage what could have been a potentially great season. Let's not even bring up the yardage. So now (as it's been mentioned), people forget about his pocket exploits.Cam was more of a traditional pocket QB his first two seasons then he is now (not including the start of 2014, where he was). The running, read option never seemed to get in the way, it was always additional. One of the problems: Shula/Rivera not allowing him to throw mostly from the pocket, where he's been successful. Too much read option and running (of course injuries last year, lack of deep receivers, inconsistent play calling from Shula), ultimately sabotaged Newton. I agree. Many times Shula never allows Cam to get into, or stay in a throwing Rhythm by calling a stupid running play out the blue. This is something the Panther OC and Head coach have never been consistent with (as in 1st half of his second year; 2nd half of his fourth year; relegating him to relative Game Manager Role in 2013).
  10. What happened to your Research now? SMH/LOL Did you even understand what "incredulous fashion" meant? So you're saying Seattle has blown more leads with less than, about 1 min or so left? A team marching largely up the field with no time outs (even throw in some undistinguished QB's such as Manuel and Freeman), and lost or attained a tie the way Rivera has since he's been here? I can't think of many good coaches, especially defensive ones who have blown super late game leads on a consistent basis the way Rivera has. That was the key take away. Not futile/petty semantics, or attempts at nit picking for ones own disposition. Enjoy your way of thinking indeed. I gotta get some work done now, thank you.
  11. Hmmh. And since you have so much time on your hands/such a good researcher, why don't you compare the amount of late game blown leads by Rivera since he's been in the NFL compared to Pete Carrol? Please do that for us. Yes, Seattle was mediocre for a large part of 2014, ironically (though not surprising) getting better against the Panthers. None of this takes away from the fact, regardless of where Rivera's defense was ranked, they blew leads in incredulous fashions (were the Seattle ones you posted like any of the Panthers ones with Josh Freeman, EJ Manuel, Matt Ryan, etc., by the way)? So yes, even regarding defense-Rivera's strong suit--he's been at the least up and down with that element. When you combine this with his poor TO, situational game management, coach management, and lax talent evaluation, Rivera was lucky he came out with a 17 ranking in many folks opinion. Let's not be pedantic here.
  12. OK. One in the SUPERBOWL vs Tom Brady (in how many years), after winning the Superbowl the previous year. I would take any of those scenarios under Rivera in a heartbeat, compared to what we seen so far with the Panthers/Rivera.
  13. The point/take away is: Even the years Rivera's defense was supposed to be good or great the Panthers blew leads in incredulous fashion (mind you the blow outs you noted, making it even worse). When's the last time you seen Seattle blow leads in Panther fashion? This is one of the reasons other QB's had more game winning drives than Newton up until recently. He would get the leads, just to see the defense blow them again. Meanwhile more mediocre ranked defenses would hold their late game leads for their QB to get the 4th Qtr QB victory stat. Just think about all incredulous wins the likes of EJ Manuel, Josh Freeman, Matt Ryan, Russell Wilson, etc., pulled out against the Panthers looking at almost certain defeat.
  14. Huh? Did you read or really think about what I wrote? The Panthers blew numerous late game leads in 2013-during their great defensive year, as well as in 2014 There's never been a year Rivera's been head coach (regardless of how/where the "D" ended up being ranked to end the year) where the defense didn't blow numerous leads in incredulous fashion. I repeat. Every Season he's been Head Coach!!
  15. Yup! And even though he's suppossed to be this great defensive coach, the Panther defense has sucked outright, and/or blown leads in the most incredulous, embarrassing of ways every year he's been head coach.
  16. Bunch of idiots trading him to Seattle. They must feel they're not going to compete this year (still wouldn't do it though)? What about the future Ain'ts? Why to a contender (and recent Supe Bowl winner) in the same conference? Just dumb to me! I guess, now we'll find out if Graham is truly overrated (though short passing yards passing to a bigger target should help the diminutive and somewhat overrated Wilson).
  17. I actually asked you "what Pecvy Harvin HAD DONE the past few years", not what he can do, but ok. LOL. It appears to me, not much. Everyone who supports this notion is seemingly going off his Potential. 3 teams in 3 years. Not saying he maybe can't help the Panthers (just look at Ginn before he came to Charlotte). It' It's possible. However, I don't see him as a Home Run (I'm sure the Panthers don't either). Not at all. But I hear ya. And keep the faith!
  18. What exactly has Harvin done the past few years to warrant your belief in him, besides his talent?
  19. Great News! Should be finalized later this afternoon. Now, where are all those Doom and Gloom folks who thought he was going to Cleveland based off a few introductory, speculative articles?
  20. WFNZ (via Joe Person) just announced that Ted Ginn is a Panther again. Yes, it will be finalized later this afternoon.
  21. Love how commenters seemingly overreact to introductory, early stage articles. We'll see what happens before all the hand wringing and name calling?
  22. None of this changes anything. The balls in Hardy's court. Unless he's willing to play for less, it's highly unlikely he's coming back to Charlotte. Easier said than, done! Not that complicated.
  23. As CRA, I thinks Voth is just trying to get hits. What incentive would Hardy have playing for below market value, unless he gets rewarded later. And even that makes no sense, cause he can always screw up at a moments notice. Voth, can say what he want about the Panthers talking to Hardy. Not sure he makes much difference, unless it's for below market value. However, I don't think anyone knows (including Voth) if this is even close to a possibility.
  24. Just so you know: I would like Hardy to come back myself. But I'm also a realist. And of course, this has something to do between Keuchly and Hardy, as Kraken has been quite reckless and immature (I mean REAL immature, not faux media/wannabee Cam immature) during his Panther tenure. Do you deny this? Thus, he becomes a financial risk. Too many Panther fans are looking at it, just on the ON THE FIELD Reasons.
