  1. In all honesty, if you’re looking for a perfect spot to have the opportunity to win now, Miami is the perfect spot. Can’t fault him for choosing the Dolphins.
  2. It could become an issue, but it would be the weakest argument ever. I believe it’s been shared that she placed the application with the team before he was even fired in Indy. Plus, this is not in Reich’s character. Whether you feel he’s a great coach or not, he is known to be a man of integrity and faith. So this is the attorney’s argument: The Panthers were racially motivated so much that they appointed you interim coach and allowed you to fire coaches and instill your “brand” on the team. They made no promises on whether you would get the full time gig and had a legitimate process to which you were a finalist for. However, you were screwed out of the job. It just makes no sense to me. However, he’s going to do what he’s going to do.
  3. Realistically the attorneys had that statement ready to roll in the event that Wilks wasn’t hired.
  4. Fair, but I know nothing of his daughter’s credentials for the position. I don’t want to speculate or potentially discount her professional acumen. She is from the area so it’s not completely outlandish. However, yes, attorneys will latch onto whatever suits their case.
  5. That’s one of my big sticking points. There is typically a “rally” effect for the interim. But short of Fisher, there’s been very little success.
  6. Fair enough, I just don’t understand the thought he didn’t get a legitimate look. For once, the Panthers ran a legitimate search with no leaks. Everyone had a plan that was presented with Wilks and Reich being finalists. In the end Reich was chosen, right, wrong, or indifferent. And I’m not one to openly defend the organization as we’ve obviously made our fair share of mistakes.
  7. You listed the the things that were against Wilks, but what about the head winds going against Reich in Indy? He had an owner that failed to give him what he needed and was forced to change QB’s at the whim of a crazy owner.
  8. Calm down man, I am not slighting Wilks. I said he did a good job. However, the trends I saw were the same. We had an above average defense with an average offense built on minimizing mistakes. We’ve done that before. The trends for interim coaches are horrible as well. I’m just looking at the whole body of work. Wilks did out perform Reich last year, but you have to look at the whole body of work.
  9. I’ve seen takes on here and by the media that I think are a little too far. The notion that Wilks was “screwed” over is ridiculous frankly. He was given a shot at the head job. The honest truth was he did a good job. However, let’s not pretend our division was good. We were a mediocre team, you are what your record says you are. He looked like all of the other coaches we’ve had in our existence. I’m happy the players liked him, however decision’s can’t be made that way. Historically, interim coaches don’t work out. For once, the team had a process and listened to the plans of the coaches. From all accounts, Reich’s plan was great. The hot takes are a little ridiculous.
  10. Interesting that Kris Richard was interviewed in Indy by Reich for the DC job. He was interviewed recently for the Panthers DC gig. Coincidence?
  11. I am not a Reich cheerleader but he was a position coach with the Cardinals at that time. After the stint with the Chargers (under McCoy who was an offensive guy), he went on to win a Super Bowl. Show me a position coach who hasn’t been let go as part of a staff. These are not strong arguments.
  12. Was about to post the same thing. Arguably the best coach ever, Belichick was fired from the Browns.
  13. I can agree to some degree, however, who else is requesting an interview or 2nd interview with him? Not many, so there has to be something. On the flip side, we don’t know, he could be amazing. Picking a coach is a toss-up.
  14. Again, I’d caution if this is even true. Remember, we’ve been infatuated with Ryans, we were going to give Payton whatever he wanted, etc. I don’t think people have a clue what is going on.
  15. Agreed plus there’s some dispute over whether she was trained or not.
  16. I think it was said to be a more logistical issue last week. Plus, he probably sees that a primary focus is on offensive guys.
  17. I’m always hesitant when I see tweets like this. We’ve seen Tepper likes Harbaugh, Tepper fixated on Ryans, Tepper would do anything for Ben Johnson and Payton, etc. I think we need to be mindful that we probably don’t know much right now except he seems to potentially have a type (offensive minded guy). Anyhow, I’m anxious to see what happens.
  18. I wouldn’t give up any draft compensation for a coach. We need all of our picks.
  19. Spot on. In addition, interim coaches have a horrible track record!
  20. It was crazy with Rhule, I think we hired him early January, like the first week. Of course we have an extra week of the season now. I’d say by the end of the month, give or take.
  21. That would be a good staff, I’m just not sure it’s realistic. I can see Flores being brought in when Al and Wilkes are so close. But in theory, yes, sign me up.
  22. Some of you are ridiculous. You can’t tell players to not play to win. The front office tried to tank, trading our best offensive player. The players, however, continued to play hard. You tell them not to play hard, you lose the locker room completely!
