Honestly, he was my favorite going into the search. However, I’m pretty happy with how things turned out, especially with the staff he’s putting together.

I’m pretty happy with this staff so far. I’m curious as to who the OC will be. However, I honestly have no dog in the fight. I trust between those on the offensive side and Reich, we’ll get it right.

The defenses were complete no shows in this game. I’m more disappointed in the Eagles squad. They did next to nothing.

I hate to see officials dictate games. It was a 50/50 call, but it was weak. Overall, it was a great game. Just would have loved to see the Eagles get another shot.

Good Article on potential OC target Brian Johnson
Tarheel119 replied to Mills's topic in Carolina Panthers
I think Johnson replaces Steichen due to his relationship with Hurts. -
I love the staff we’ve put together so far. It’s night and day to what we’ve had. Hopefully, it results to more W’s on the field.

I’m curious if this means Reich already has his OC? I’d think he’d get their input when making offensive hires.
-
I think I e read that Patullo’s connection is more to Reich vs. Steichen but I could be wrong.
-
I think either one is solid. Right now, I’m not thinking Steichen gets a HC job. It that stands, it will be interesting to see if that changes things for Johnson. It will be interesting to watch though.

I don’t think anyone is anointing him the greatest coach of all time but there is reason to have a little hope here. He had a winning record despite the QB turnover and crazy owner/management. Yes, he was fired. I bet he takes some ownership of that as well. With that said, just about every coach has been fired at some point. Carroll was fired. Belichick was fired. I’m not saying Reich will do anything remotely equivalent but being fired doesn’t make you a terrible coach. For once, the organization is making sound decisions and it looks like a good staff is being built.

I’m wondering if we’re not announcing Staley until we’ve finalized his responsibilities?
-
The issue is I don’t think Levis is there at 9. The only one I see there is Richardson.
-
I’d think any team looking for a DC would be interested in this guy. I don’t see Morris getting the Indy job though. Something tells me it’s Saturday or Steichen. Of course, who really knows what Irsay will do.

Drafting QB’s is hit or miss at best. I’ve continuously seen the “next year is better” mantra and it never seems to play out. Everyone remember the year where Howell and Rattler were going 1 and 2? Howell went in the later rounds and Rattler stayed in college/transferred due to his year. The key is having guys who can develop QB’s. For once, I think we’ll have that. Anyhow, as folks said, it’s February, there’s a long way to go.

THE ATHLETIC: Potential cap casualties….
Tarheel119 replied to WarPanthers89's topic in Carolina Panthers
If I’ve seen anything the last couple of years in the NFL, it’s that the cap can be manipulated in multiple ways. The Panthers will restructure some contracts to make room. Thompson could be a cap casualty but I’d hate to lose his productivity. The defense has some good pieces. Anyhow, I am confident we’ll put a good roster together. To me, resigning Bozeman is vital. -
Dennard Wilson is intriguing. Here’s an article about him. He’s considered the heir apparent to Gannon. https://www.nbcsports.com/philadelphia/eagles/eagles-training-camp-2022-dennard-wilson-defensive-coordinator-waiting

Evero is still in the running for some head coaching jobs. Until that’s concluded, I doubt you’ll hear anything about him on the DC front.
-
Plus it sounds like the Lions granted him permission due to his family situation.
-
Love to hear this!

I am glad we didn’t go down this road. I hated the thought of giving away draft capital for a coach.

Is Ryan’s to Houston official?

Report. Panthers pivoting from Shane Steichen
Tarheel119 replied to raleigh-panther's topic in Carolina Panthers
The podcast is kind of lazy in my opinion. Piling on Tepper is the in-style thing to do (he’s earned it in some regards), but these are a little much. I’ve interviewed people on Zoom over the last 3 years and I have eliminated some individuals from that process. No matter the medium, you can tell who’s prepared. Plus, it was all we could do at the time. -
Fangio to Miami official....well...maybe... probably tho
Tarheel119 replied to jb2288's topic in Carolina Panthers
I think it’s realistic that there would be some candidates management would like. I’m not sure it’s a Tepper thing as all have connections to Fitt. My hope would be that Reich would review and not just go with guys he’s hired in the past. Anyhow, we’ll see what happens.
