Tony Pauline: CJ Stroud or Anthony Richardson
Tarheel119 replied to TheSpecialJuan's topic in Carolina Panthers
There are also reports that Tepper loves Young. I think we’ll continuously hear this stuff for the next 40+days. -
Stroud threw very well at the combine. However, the arm strength argument isn’t solved by the long distance throws, it’s by the medium to long out route passes. Richardson has the stronger arm on the whole (also threw 60+ mph), but he is not accurate. Stroud has a strong arm too but he is known for his precision. IMO, Stroud is the better QB, Richardson is a better all around athlete.

REPORT: Panthers to aggressive pursue trade up to get a QB
Tarheel119 replied to TheSpecialJuan's topic in Carolina Panthers
I’m thinking the Panthers are more aggressive on the draft front than Carr front. However, that is my opinion. I do think Carr instantly becomes the best QB in the NFC South, I’m just not in a position where I think we’re ready for a move of that caliber yet. -
The other thing we need to consider are the interviews. No prospect is without warts. However, the ability to process information, recall plays, read coverages, etc. are extremely important. By all accounts, AR impressed in those meetings.

Rumor: The Prodigal Son And The Road Home

For 45 million, no thanks! -
Who would folks think we take with pick #1?

This off-season has gone just about as well as I hoped so far! I’m still holding my breath to see how they address the QB situation.

That’s sad, I could probably think of three off the top of my head. I understand not wanting them to take any vicious shots, but some of these roughing calls are horrible.

No worries man, you called 2 others. -

Man, these guys are impressive. It is like night and day from the Rhule staff. We have competency again! -

This would suck from my perspective because I’m a Tar Heel fan. However, this would be par for the course from a UNC athletics perspective this year. He’s one of the better coaches on the staff. -

You can tell the ones who’ve been in the building for their official photos vs. those who haven’t. Also, I though Dixon was being retained? -

It’s nice to be getting good press instead of being laughed at. I haven’t been this excited to start a season since…forever. I’m hoping they do some sit downs with a few key members of the staff. I’m a nerd like that! -
I’ve actually seen it described both ways. Regardless, he’s probably not calling them here either. He’s well-respected around the league and McVay loves him (the guy everyone is trying to copy at the moment). It’s a good hire, there’s no other way to describe it.

We have ourselves a professional staff ladies and gentlemen!

What’s left? WR and TE?

I think if the Panthers were sold on JBC, he’d be hired by now. The fact that he’s not tells me the search is still active. I’m not saying he ultimately won’t get the job, I just don’t think it’s clear cut.

I agree, he’ll forever be in that shadow if he’s continually with an offensive guy. With that said, I’d love to have him. I just don’t believe it’s in the cards.

Would you trade 9 for Fields - straight up?
Tarheel119 replied to musicman's topic in Carolina Panthers
While I think this is a moot point as the Bears said they’re keeping him, I’d have to think hard about 9 for Fields. The end of the year showed some potential. I also don’t think he’s had the guys to develop him that we’d have here. I’m not saying it’d be a slam dunk case for me, but I’d have to consider it. -
I’m not exactly sure how I feel about this. I think he’s a guy who could be a high level starter for another 2-3 years. Would you draft a raw Richardson to sit behind him or would you move towards another position of need? Next year’s crop of QB’s are good as well. Hence why I’m not exactly sure where I am with all of this.

If Caldwell was offended, he wouldn’t have accepted the job, period. Perhaps Reich had a good plan for how to get this team moving in the right direction. Judging by his first few hires, I’d agree. This guy is trying find a story where there isn’t one.
