  1. At this point just take your guy. Moving down and getting a second rounder makes sense. Moving down for pick 157, a player that's likely off the roster in a year a two, is pointless.
  2. I mean there is. Seattle drafted Metcalf in the 2nd and gave him a $72m extension after year 3, before he got into the final year of his rookie deal. If they had drafted him in the 1st round he'd be getting that deal 1 year later and they'd be saving a ton of cap space.
  3. Yeah I know that. You were suggesting if he can play he'll get a deal before the 5th year (like Deonte Brown) making the 5th year not that important. My point is if he was a second rounder who can play they'd be looking to extend him before that 4th year. The 5th year option gives them at least one year extra having him on a rookie salary. For a potential WR1 that's at least $20m in cap savings.
  4. Well if they have the 5th year option they have him on a rookie contract for 4 years before needing to worry about an extension. If they took him at 33 they'd be paying him after 3 years. If he pans out that will save them what, at least $20m in cap space for 1 year?
  5. Chances of a 5th rounder becoming a solid starter are below 10%. I don't really understand why people are butthurt over giving that up. Sure hate the pick, but the trade was fine.
  6. No real issue with the trade. It's worth giving up a 5th rounder (considering they have two close together) for that extra year on the contract. I would've taken Mitchell though.
  7. In his latest mock he had us trading back for an extra 5th and a second rounder next year. That doesn't exactly help with the "other positional needs".
  8. I don't really see the point in trading 33 if you're not getting an extra pick or picks this year. You're giving up the opportunity to take whoever falls out of the first round and only get what's likely a mid second rounder 12 months in the future. Sure we don't have a second rounder next year but we have a first, so if they want to get that second rounder back just trade down in next years first round. That's assuming Bryce works out. If he doesn't they'll have bigger problems than not having a second round pick.
  9. They should with one of those second rounders. You'd more than likely be getting the top 1/2 player at the position and in a position of need. That won't be the case for any other position of need.
  10. Joe Person has us taking Legette at 39 in his 2.0 mock. He had us trading away 33 to the Jags for 48, 153 and a 2025 second rounder. Another terrible trade to go with the one he had in his first mock.
  11. This happens every year with one specific group. 8 WRs aren't going to go in round 1. Once the first 4/5 are off the board teams will start picking up the better talent from other position groups.
  12. Yeah that would be reaching. Almost definitely there to be had at the top of the 3rd if they wanted him.
  13. I could've sworn we made a trade for a very good WR this off-season and didn't have to give up a draft pick to do it.
  14. All set up for a WR at pick 33 after this.
  15. Ain't no way I'd make that trade. Move down 25 spots in the 2nd round for a 5th rounder and a 2nd next year that will be closer to a 3rd round pick. If you go by the trade value charts we'd be losing in that trade as well. There'd need to be a late 3rd/early 4th for that to even resemble a fair trade if you go by the charts.
  16. His visit with the Panthers was last week on Thursday/Friday (one of those days).
  17. Probably would've been overkill to have him in any case. We've already got Thielen who's probably gone next year, Johnson who could be gone next year and then signing Williams to a 1 year deal meaning he'd have been gone next year. I'm not sure it's ideal to be building a WR room that more likely than not won't be around for more than 12 months. They need to draft one with pick 33 and whoever it is needs to be getting a lot of snaps and targets.
  18. When you think the Browns can't shock you anymore.
  19. These football teams don't even like playing on these terrible temporary turf pitches. They are slow, they cut up easily and they're hard. The only reason they do it is for the money that comes with touring the US in preseason. What's going to happen at the 2026 world cup? Are all the stadiums going to install these temporary pitches? It's going to be a terrible spectacle if that's the case.
  20. Jets only have $7.9m cap space according to Spotrac so they won't be breaking the bank for him either.
  21. His contract offers will probably be one year prove it deals in the $10m-$15m range.
  22. They will most likely still draft one in round 2 with how deep the draft is at WR. You can get what would ordinarily be a 1st round talent in the 2nd round this year. Also worth factoring in that Johnson is only contracted for 1 year and they might cut Thielen next year, so drafting a WR now will leave us better prepared in 2025.
