  1. This never really made sense when the original Info was he was looking to sign for a contender. Maybe he could've been persuaded had the money been too good to refuse but we seem to be handing out sensible contracts.
  2. You don't move up to 1 and give away your best receiver + multiple high picks on a hunch someone might be worth picking at that spot. They know who they want.
  3. Tender PJ Walker? I mean I wouldn't really want to do it but he's cheap and won't care about sitting behind whoever we draft. It feels like a waste of cap space signing a higher profile QB to sit behind whoever we draft.
  4. I'd like to see us get a TE like Schultz or Gesicki. It's a good draft for TEs and one will probably be there in the second round but rookie TEs usually take a year or two before they start to produce. TE is going to be an important part of Reich's offense so a good, reliable vet is needed.
  5. I still don't get why people think this trade down stuff is anything more than hot air. The only reason the Texans contemplate a trade up would be if they thought the Colts would jump them and there's no way Carolina are going to move down to 4.
  6. Someone who won't cost a lot. I think if we're going to spend a chunk of cap on a reliable target for our new QB it should be on a top tight end like Schultz. There's no true WR1 in free agency so get a very good TE instead. We can probably get one of the top 5 receivers in this year's draft at 39 (or move up slightly).
  7. I wouldn't trade the pick. We will favour one of the QBs more than the other. Something will set one apart from the other, even if it's marginal. Why risk the Texans picking the guy you ultimately wanted? I don't think the Texans will trade up anyway. If our staff are of the opinion that the top 2 are both franchise quarterbacks then it's pretty likely most other organisations would have the same opinion. There'd be no need for the Texans to give up any picks when they can stay where they are and get a franchise quarterback.
  8. Absolutely no chance. The only reason to move up as high as we did is to make sure you get one of the top 2. Any other talk about it being a strong class with all the prospects having strong traits or whatever is just talk for the crowd. It will 100% be either Young or Stroud.
  9. You'd have to think we'd have some sort of interest. Granted he wants a lot of money but you're giving up less draft capital for what's one of the best QBs in the league, the alternative being giving up more draft capital for what is essentially a gamble. If we're lucky enough to draft a franchise QB we'll be handing out a similar sized contract in 5 years anyway.
  10. It would be quite the turnaround if in the space of two weeks the NFC South went from having no quarterbacks to Carr, Lamar and potentially Garoppolo (bucs) after the first week of free agency. The outlook would suddenly look a lot less rosy for the Panthers.
  11. With Fitt's comments about now maybe being the time to go up and get their guy because they don't plan on picking in the top 10 anymore, the chances of a trade are extremely high. The only question is how high do they go and when do they make the trade. He made a comment about deciding which way they want to go (draft or FA) in the weeks following the combine and leading up to FA, to give them a clearer picture of what they do in FA (bridge or starting QB). This suggests they could try and get the trade done in the next couple of weeks.
  12. I'd be fine with them giving up 9 this year and two future firsts of they thought Stroud is a franchise QB. There's obviously risk attached but the likely alternative is signing Carr to a massive contract and drafting a project QB which will most likely be a bust. Both outcomes carry big risk and could hamper the organisation going forward in differing ways if they're unsuccessful.
  13. If we’re talking purely draft picks it’s probably going to take a 2023 2nd, 3rd and a 2022 4th or 5th to move into the back end of the second round/top of the third round. That’s way too much for one of these QBs when they could probably get Mayfield for a 2022 4th or 5th.
  14. A tough one to call. They must be tempted to take one of these QBs at the top of round 2, but they’ll have to give up more draft capital to get one of them than they would if they trade for Mayfield or Jimmy. I think it’s more likely they decide to trade for Mayfield or Jimmy.
  15. Tyler L after a trade down and a QB with the extra pick.
  16. Either the Ravens or Eagles. 6 and 149 for the Ravens 18, 45 and 110. Or 6 and 137 for the Eagles 15, 51, 83.
  17. If the trade is with the Eagles and for picks this year then they need to throw in pick 83 as well for it to be proper value, so 15, 51, 83. Or they could give us 18, 51, 83, 101. Those represent similar value to the 6 pick according to the trade charts (although they aren’t an exact science). We could give them one of our 5ths in either scenario. I definitely wouldn’t do a trade just for 51. We’d be getting fleeced.
  18. With the line they are putting together they’ll either trade for a QB or draft a QB ready to start day 1. You don’t sign these guys to short term deals and then waste them with Darnold playing behind them for a season. You either trade for someone you think can make you a play-off team or you get a ready to start rookie QB who’ll spend his first season learning behind a very good offensive line.
  19. I don’t think they sign these guys to short term contracts with the idea of having a transition season with a rookie QB. Tepper isn’t going to care if we go 8-9 with a rookie QB. He wants a winning team. Why else would they consistently look to give up draft capital for established QBs?
  20. Great addition. With the way the OL is shaping up and with the defense also being strengthened even Darnold could carry this team to enough wins to see them pick outside the top 10. If they’re strengthening this much in free agency the idea of tanking to get a QB in 2023 just isn’t going to happen. It’s probably a certainty they now try and bring in another QB via a trade.
  21. The question is who do they panic and trade for now? I think it’s safe to assume they won’t draft anyone because both Tepper and Rhule want a ready made solution and none of the QBs in the draft are that. Darnold is still there but having tried to move on from him halfway through last season and now in the off-season the likelihood that they start the season with him as QB1 is small to say the least. What a mess.
