  1. That statistic about no low scoring prospect from the last 7 years making it is quite damning. If Stroud did perform badly in the test than I can imagine that all but rules him out of being our pick.
  2. There was some speculation from Peter King yesterday that if they missed out on Young they could skip drafting a QB at 2 and use their other 1st rounder and 2nd rounder to move up and pick a QB.
  3. I can understand the point about not wanting Stroud/Young factions. I'm already getting bored of the back and forth between the two sides. I'm happy with either one.
  4. To directly quote him "I came really close to another team. Just from relationships, where they sit as a football team and the city that they're in, what I think they're going to do at QB and all that". Nobody knows what those conversations were about. We hadn't even traded up at that point. For all we know the "plan in place" at that time was signing Derek Carr.
  5. Just watched some of the workout. Definitely a physical specimen but I can see why he had such a low completion percentage. Some of his shorter throws were high and receiver's were having to jump for them. The deeper throws had the receiver's slowing to a jog to catch them. A bit of a mixed bag. Kind of glad we moved up so we weren't left at a spot with no option but to draft him.
  6. Someone's proneness to being injured isn't necessarily correlated to their weight, or in this case their vulnerability to being injured because of their low weight. Russell Wilson is very rarely injured and he's the same weight as Murray.
  7. I was thinking about this yesterday. Not many no.1 pick QBs go into a good team from day 1. We have a good defense and a good OLine. With better coaching we could've had a winning record and made the play-offs and that was with 3 garbage QBs. Whoever we pick has a great foundation to start with.
  8. I suppose it's a possibility if they swapped picks with Houston. 1st pick for Houston's 2nd and 33rd picks. You could then use picks 33 and 39 to move up if they found a trade partner towards the end of the first round. I don't see it as a likely scenario though.
  9. Does raise eyebrows that he showed up heavy to the combine and did no drills and now on the day he will actually do stuff he won't get weighed. Was he purposely sitting out at the combine because he knew he'd perform badly carrying an extra 15-20lbs?
  10. "Game tape is what's most important. Hopefully it's two or three years of production, you'll see 1000 plays on tape and that's really who the guy is. You get to the combine, yeah they run around and they're going to throw the ball great but no-one is in front of them no-one is chasing them." Does this really sound like a GM who's going to take Richardson with the 1st pick?
  11. I'd say Young is the better prospect. His height doesn't scare me more than his weight. If I thought he'd be around 210lb come September I would pick him without question over Stroud. If I was picking today I would take Stroud because he's the safer choice all things considered.
  12. Seems like they added two void years to Shaq's contract?
  13. Have you seen all the contracts they've been handing out? None of the cap hits have been more than $3.3m. They can easily do another deal for a WR like Chark.
  14. I wonder if they'd still be interested in Thielen should should they sign Chark? If those two were signed we'd probably be done at receiver and would target the BPA on the defensive side.
  15. The difference between our situation and The 49ers is we're having the opportunity to pick the Trevor Lawrence of the draft. It's a lot easier to be swayed to pick someone else when you can't pick the no.1 guy.
  16. This never really made sense when the original Info was he was looking to sign for a contender. Maybe he could've been persuaded had the money been too good to refuse but we seem to be handing out sensible contracts.
  17. You don't move up to 1 and give away your best receiver + multiple high picks on a hunch someone might be worth picking at that spot. They know who they want.
  18. Tender PJ Walker? I mean I wouldn't really want to do it but he's cheap and won't care about sitting behind whoever we draft. It feels like a waste of cap space signing a higher profile QB to sit behind whoever we draft.
  19. I'd like to see us get a TE like Schultz or Gesicki. It's a good draft for TEs and one will probably be there in the second round but rookie TEs usually take a year or two before they start to produce. TE is going to be an important part of Reich's offense so a good, reliable vet is needed.
  20. I still don't get why people think this trade down stuff is anything more than hot air. The only reason the Texans contemplate a trade up would be if they thought the Colts would jump them and there's no way Carolina are going to move down to 4.
  21. Someone who won't cost a lot. I think if we're going to spend a chunk of cap on a reliable target for our new QB it should be on a top tight end like Schultz. There's no true WR1 in free agency so get a very good TE instead. We can probably get one of the top 5 receivers in this year's draft at 39 (or move up slightly).
  22. I wouldn't trade the pick. We will favour one of the QBs more than the other. Something will set one apart from the other, even if it's marginal. Why risk the Texans picking the guy you ultimately wanted? I don't think the Texans will trade up anyway. If our staff are of the opinion that the top 2 are both franchise quarterbacks then it's pretty likely most other organisations would have the same opinion. There'd be no need for the Texans to give up any picks when they can stay where they are and get a franchise quarterback.
  23. Absolutely no chance. The only reason to move up as high as we did is to make sure you get one of the top 2. Any other talk about it being a strong class with all the prospects having strong traits or whatever is just talk for the crowd. It will 100% be either Young or Stroud.
  24. You'd have to think we'd have some sort of interest. Granted he wants a lot of money but you're giving up less draft capital for what's one of the best QBs in the league, the alternative being giving up more draft capital for what is essentially a gamble. If we're lucky enough to draft a franchise QB we'll be handing out a similar sized contract in 5 years anyway.
