Like I said teams aren’t giving up oline talent because there isn’t much to go around. We’re gonna have to be active in FA and the draft to upgrade. But it’s gonna have to be next year. I hope we get some talent via FA because besides the 1st round you can’t expect a starter rounds 4 and down.

Let’s see if djax can stay healthy for a full season. He’s yet to do that. His size is a concern for me. I said before I wouldn’t wanna give Gilmore a big deal because he’ll be 32+ during the duration. All of this is wait and see how the season plays out for me.

Nobody is trading oline talent away. Why do you guys not understand it. Oline positions are devoid of talent so when teams do find them they don’t give them up.

The oline is bad and needs to be upgraded as much as possible. But it goes both ways. He has processing issues in the pocket. Really like to see him get quicker. He’s really good in scramble drill and plays outside the pocket. This right here is stuff he needs to work on the most.

Yeah and thats fair considering we have zero other options right now. But if by the end of the season it’s obvious Darnold can’t elevate the team I hope this staff looks seriously about the qbs coming out next year.

How long would it take for you to know that we need to try and upgrade from Darnold?

Nobody is saying that. What people are saying is if there is a qb worth drafting in the 1st round. Do it! Even if you have to trade up. Because although we all hope Darnold can be that guy there are questions if he can be. He’s in his fourth year. The Andy dalton comp is accurate. The one I’ve thrown up is Alex smith. Where he brought those teams to the playoffs with awesome talent around him and a coach like Andy who could scheme his ass off. Andy knew Alex could only take them so far and took a risk moving up to draft Mahomes. I hope this org takes that chance if Sam can’t be the guy. Like Sam a lot and you can win with him but can he elevate this team when we need it? So far he hasn’t shown that. And that’s ok. Still has more time. Defense is not gonna play lights out every game and even the elite qbs have off games but this has been a trend with Darnold. Gotta hope he improves. I’ll be rooting for him. And although I’m glad he found his composure in the 4th to throw 2 tds it was also against prevent defense and the cowboys best cover corner taken off the field.

It’s something I brought up when we signed/traded for him. He was ranked dead last with a clean pocket when he was on the Jets. Its very strange. People chalked it up to “seeing ghosts” but I feel like it is a processing issue. I think there’s more of a chance that we have a KC Alex smith situation where the team around the qb is really good but we can’t seem to make that next jump. I said in another thread those that are expecting the oline to get fixed in one draft/off-season are fooling themselves. We obviously have to address this oline and upgrade as best we can but most nfl fanbases bitch about their olines. There is a lack of talent in that position and 99% of those teams that do get lucky do not trade them away. You have to have a very cerebral qb, a freakish athlete or a combo of both (rare) to negate that talent deficiency. Brady’s scheme helps a ton but can only go so far. The hope is he gets better in this system and I hope he does! I like Sam a lot. And he obviously has talent. But if I had to guess, we should be drafting a qb in the first round in the next couple of years.

Yeah I think also people need to come to the realization that we might never have a good oline. Finding talent is fuging hard. There is a lack of it right now in the nfl and those that find it don’t give it up. Scheme is very important and having a qb that can mask oline weaknesses either with their athletic ability or their brains.

Rhule made some questionable calls this game. Overall I don’t think this is like oh no this team sucks! game. Dallas has a better team.

This is what we’re trying to avoid with Darnold. My fear is he has such a terrible game throwing picks and forcing that it continues onto the rest of the season and he starts panicking more and not seeing the field correctly.
