When did you give up on Matt Rhule?
TheRumGone replied to Sean Payton's Vicodin's topic in Carolina Panthers
Again no OC is going to be able to do much with those two qbs. This is a talent issue not a coordinator issue. Brady has a great scheme and yes he is still learning situationally. He’s young too but the dude has what it takes if we give him an actual competent qb. I know people are harping on the run but like we were down and needed to make plays. They’re stacking the box and sitting on routes because Darnold sucks. There’s only so much you can do in situations like that. -

Darnold limits the play calling Brady can do because he is so unbelievably bad. Brady isn’t even close to being the problem. It’s all Darnold. Even with this line he’s the worst starting qb with a clean pocket going on 4 years now. No OC in the league is going to be successful with what Brady has had to work with. This is the same guy who made 4 1k yard from scrimmage players with Teddy bridgewater in his scheme. Because Teddy could actually run the system and be quick and decisive and process what was happening on the field. He just didn’t have the arm to stretch the field and was wayyyyy too conservative. Darnold cannot process the field, panics if the first read isn’t open and throws balls directly to defenders. Like this dude should not be in the nfl. It’s not Brady and we would be fools to scapegoat him but this will probably happen because Rhule has no ties to him. Darnold is a franchise and coach killer. -

The defense is actually really fuging good and I stand by my statement that it’s a championship type defense and they are extremely young. Some of y’all do not understand how insanely bad offenses have an affect on a defense. When your offense turns the ball over 2 to 3 times a game and can’t sustain drives you cannot expect a defense to hold all game. Those championship caliber defenses that won Super Bowls had strong run games and methodical offenses. Seattle, Ravens, ect s. They don’t turn the ball over, they sustain drives to keep that defense fresh. You cannot do what this offense is doing and expect them to be dominant. It’s complimentary football. You put someone like DW caliber of quarterbacking on this team and it changes over night. -
Trading for Deshaun Watson could set the Panthers back many years
TheRumGone replied to hepcat's topic in Carolina Panthers
One of the most reactionary fanbases calling this move reactionary is hilarious. He is a top 5 qb in the nfl. Whatever happens to anybody else doesn’t change that. They’ve been wanting him for months to the point that it’s been said that the deal was all but done before all that mess came out. If the dolphins and the panthers are really trying to do this then I’m going to assume Tepper knows that deshaun is not going to prison. You don’t put up that kind of draft capital and players without being damn sure you know what’s happening and the league knows what’s happening. Tepper isn’t an idiot. This is entertainment, it’s sports. There is a known rapist playing qb in Pittsburg and nobody fuging talks about it. The same people feigning moral outrage probably voted for trump or Biden who are known sexual predators and pedophiles. They have no problems voting these psychos into one of the most powerful positions in the world but the qb for their favorite sports team is where they draw the line. It’s total hypocrisy. People can leave if this happens or freak out about players and draft picks but I recognize this for what it is. It’s a sport. It’s just entertainment. In this game you need a top 10 qb to be a top 10 team. This isn’t the old nfl where you can win it all with a strong run game and a game manager. You have to make moves to get an elite qb when opportunities like this come up. -

This isn’t a knee jerk move they’ve been wanting to do this since the off-season -
I don’t think some of you realize how bad Darnold is and how much that impacts the rest of the team. Including the defense. He is a franchise killer. He takes all the energy out. You put an actual nfl caliber qb on this team and watch what happens. Robby will earn that contract, the oline will look like it holds up better and the defense will have something to actually fuging play for because right now they know if they give up any points we’ll lose. Nobody wants to play with this dude. He doesn’t inspire confidence. He inspires panic. When you have “the guy” back there every single teammate know they got a chance to win the game. With Darnold they just hope he doesn’t fug up and they press. darnold is the worst starting qb in the league

Most people here love cmc, myself included but here in panther land our fanbase is beyond dumb about runningbacks. Never draft one in the top 10 and never give them a second contract. It’s almost never worth it. Cmcs best season, his 1k rushing 1k receiving we won like 5 games. They don’t impact games enough to justify that draft spot or contract and their bodies breakdown quick.

Darnold should be benched for the rest of the season.

This is so bad that I’d be good with firing the entire staff and FO and whoever was most in charge of trading 3 picks for the worst qb in the league. This is something that not even the very worst run orgs in the league would do. -

Sam is so bad. Chuba was open way earlier for the 1st -
Also that browns team is crazy talented they’ve just hit a bad injury bug. I don’t feel like mayfield makes them better. He does his job and that run game does the rest.
-
Mayfield is solid and tough as hell. He tore his labrum and it was dislocating and he was still playing. But he reminds me of Kirk cousins. Same caliber player. That’s certainly better than what we have but man I hope we just find the guy in the draft.

Better qb play helps the oline as well as the wrs. Terrace is gonna be really good if Sam doesn’t kill him with hospital balls before then.

Sam Darnold : Will he make it to a 2nd season here?
TheRumGone replied to glenwo2's topic in Carolina Panthers
Both trading a second and then signing him to his 5th year options didn’t have to happen. One could’ve happened without the other. The chances of him bombing were higher than him being good. My dumbass knew that. The fact professionals didn’t is astounding. I agree we should’ve never made the trade, but when we did we should’ve drafted fields and let them compete without picking up darnolds 5th year option. Shore up the qb position as best as possible. They did go for Stafford so I’ll give them that. But yea agree to disagree. Should’ve just been a flyer on Darnold and bringing in others to compete. Can’t believe we gave up 3 picks for this dude. Unreal.
