Also I’m a bit skeptical of Chuba. He ran through wide open holes at OKS. He’s not gonna have that luxury in the nfl. His speed his ridiculous. But I’m not sure if we have the line to make it work for him. Hopefully he can adapt, grow and be reliable.

I’m hoping the amount of touches had more to do with shitty qb play and Sam can elevate his play and not be heavily reliant on a high CMC workload. We need to get the most bang for our buck with this rb contract. If we don’t I expect him to finish out the contract with missing games from injury. The cap hits go 14 mill 2022, 17 2024 then 17 2024. We have a chance to get out of the contract in 2024 with a 7 mill dead cap hit if the numbers I’m looking at are right. Gonna suck really bad if he’s not on the field producing. Honestly I’d like to see him moved to the slot more long term and get someone else to run more from the backfield. But that’s down the road.

Bell is a 29 year old rb of course he’s washed up. Gase sucked but Bell was was what 27 when he signed that contract? Can’t give rbs that old big money.

Panthers Confidential - A Look Into the Panthers Offseason
TheRumGone replied to DeSim's topic in Carolina Panthers
This is a panthers puff piece. It’s awesome and I loved it. But they’re not gonna show discussions of other qbs after the fact when they decided to roll with Darnold. They are showing us what they want us to see.- 229 replies

Yeah. I bring up Mahomes cause he was one of the ones to be able to do it effectively. He is without a doubt a backyard football player but he can play within the system and be very effective. That’s what Sam’s ceiling should be. Not saying the amount of tds or yards or whatever. Just putting that all together. That’s kind of the model I’m looking for with Sam. The dude can make throws that only like 5 qbs in the league can make. It’s insane. We just desperately need him to put it all together.
-
Darnold’s style of play is backyard football. Which is fine if you can still play within the system when need be. But notice rhule saying they wanted Darnold to not be static like he apparently was in New York.

2021 QB1 Stat Predictions (BleacherReport)
TheRumGone replied to CarolinaLivin's topic in Carolina Panthers
Yeah 30 tds and 13 picks and 4K+ total yards? That’s franchise qb territory. The other small asterisk is if he fails in 4th quarter situations with the game on the line consistently. -

I played against them in fall ball and legion leagues. It was not fun. -

Yeah. He’s a freak. Maybin was one of the most fluid players I’ve seen. He made everything look so easy. Vacuum in center field. Absolute cannon arm. I think he got drafted top ten out of high school if I remember right. -

This is what a lot of people from WNC realized after playing with/against Cameron Maybin or Madison Bumgardner. Those dudes were just different. I knew some really, really good players who went on to play d1/d2 ball. Those two dudes were just on another planet. -
Grier seems like one of those players that everyone likes having as a teammate because he gets along with everyone but just isn’t a starter. The comment about the nfl being really fast says all you need to know. He can’t process quick enough. I think this is the end of the line for him.

Panthers fall in new ESPN Power Rankings
TheRumGone replied to CarolinaLivin's topic in Carolina Panthers
49ers dealt with a ton of injuries last year and weird covid poo where they couldn’t even practice at their own facilities because of California covid rules. Talent wise they are a top 10 team. But this also shows why franchise qbs are so important. They have a Super Bowl level talent roster. But when injuries pop up you need a franchise qb who can overcome. They didn’t have that until they drafted Lance who they think can be that guy. -
I hope Julio goes to New England. It would be nice to see Cam’s last chance as a starting qb with the most talented roster he’s ever had. I’ll be rooting for him except when they play the panthers.

Look at the situation like you’re trying to set Clyde up for success in his new home. Learn his habits, good and bad. Things like is he good with other dogs, kids, does he have any issues that his adopted person or people should know about. Start a training program with him. Sounds like you’re starting to do that. You wanna know what forever home would be the best situation for Clyde so he’s not shuffling between homes. Sadly this happens a lot with adopted dogs.

That’s basically what I was saying about depends on where you land. But I think Lance is going to end up being the best of the bunch long term. But that’s just my guess doesn’t mean anything. I think Trevor enjoys football but doesn’t love it. I see him exiting early.
-
I think Trey Lance is gonna be the best qb from this draft class. Especially going to that 49ers team with Shanahan. Arguably the best spot he could’ve landed in. A lot of this stuff has to do with situations the qbs are drafted. I honestly expect an Andrew luck in Indy situation with Lawrence. I think he retires early. I think Wilson is gonna bust but only because of the Jets org. It’s a toss up with fields. That bears org cannot develop qbs and have terrible offenses but I think he’s special. Maybe a cam type situation there plays out.

The evolution to being a perennial winner.
TheRumGone replied to musicman's topic in Carolina Panthers
Maybe. But we cut ties with Teddy after one season. Fields wasn’t the end all be all or were fuged. But we do desperately need to secure a franchise qb in the next couple of years. -

Last part I can’t agree with. But what I’m saying is teams make choices. And panthers will have to live with that choice either way. Forget fields though. We need a franchise qb going forward for sustained success. That needs to come in the next couple of years wether it’s Darnold, a trade or a draft pick. -

I agree you build up the team, have a plan and a culture but notice that the teams you mentioned who have sustained success have franchise qbs. We desperately need one. They passed on fields and took Jaycee. time will tell if that was correct move. But overall I agree about not rushing and building the right way, not reaching and being methodical so I’m not upset or anything. I like the direction we’re heading overall. -
How athletic IS Deonte Brown? aka Corn Bread/Big Bread
TheRumGone replied to blueandblackattack's topic in Carolina Panthers
Came in as a freshman at 415? Goddamn. I seriously think if he can get his weight under control he can be a pro bowl guard. That’s a big if though. -
Yes but it’s a good sign. He lost it after the senior bowl and kept it down.
-
Deonte said he came in at 347. So looks like he’s kept his weight down.
