He’s just mistake free which is fine for right now. Would love to get a legit returner next year. -

ok. They made the playoffs and Brees arm wasn’t the same along with his other health issues. Cams coming in with 7 games left in the season. I don’t know what you’re trying to do here. Cam is the best option at qb on the roster despite the overblown “he can’t throw” anymore when he very obviously still can. Again, we just need him to be effective, be a leader and distribute the ball and make plays with his legs. The defense is the strongest part of our team. We don’t need 2015 cam or Superman behind center.
-
I’m talking about QBs like Brees and Peyton who obviously lost strength in their arms but we’re still effective enough to make the playoffs and help their teams. Cam also has another dimension to his game with his legs. His arm being done is completely overblown. I watched his games from 2020. He was throwing it downfield even late in the season. He just doesn’t have the same arm as he did as 21 year old.
-
I think the cam’s arm is shot is overblown. He doesn’t have the same arm strength but like his final game of 2020 he had 3 passing tds and almost 250 yards on a running team. The question is can he still be an effective passer and I think the answer is yes. The throw to DJ was fine. 3 days of work and he still put it up so DJ had a chance which is wayyy better than what we’ve seen from qbs this season. people need to readjust how they view cam. He’s not a 21 year old kid flicking 60 yard passes with ease and that’s fine! Think of him like the older qbs who were still effective even though they lost arm strength. We just need him to be effective. Distribute the ball to playmakers on time and in rhythm and have him do some splash plays with his legs. This is a playoff/championship type defense. We just need cam to be a leader and be competent on offense.

How does this Cb situation play out going foward?
TheRumGone replied to WOW!!'s topic in Carolina Panthers
I’m good with LT in the first if we have stability in the qb room too. Honestly depending where we pick I’d be down with the center from Iowa. I’ve said center has been the biggest issue on the line for me personally. I think we’re gonna trade down unless they fall in love with a qb like Malik or someone like Malik might be available after a trade down who knows. A couple options we can go with. luke was great but he lasted 8 seasons and was a mess the last 3 years with concussions. That position is just rough and spending a top 10 pick on a mlb again is not how I wanna build the team. That goes for runningbacks as well. -
We wanted a better oline and weapons so cam could take his ridiculous talents to the next level and we could be a consistent playoff team. Cam flashed in ways that Sam has never ever come close to. Sam is the worst starting qb with clean pockets the past 4 years. He had the 2nd most pocket time up till his last game because he can’t read defenses and holds onto the ball too long. Nobody has said this line is good. They are our main issue this season. But competent qb play with this defense would’ve produced way more wins.
-
It’s challenging reading posts where posters still think Sam can be something he’s very obviously not and still make excuses after excuses for his very shitty play after 4 years in the league. At some point people need to just accept that he sucks and move on.

We could try to upgrade mlb but we should not be spending first round picks unless we draft in the 20s. Linebackers have short shelf life. Shaq is gonna last a bit longer because he didn’t play much his first 3 years. Rather use that position in the 2nd or 3rd. -
The smart thing to do would be to do what we did last week but slowly ween pj off the field for the next two games, then we got a bye week, then cam atl gets all the reps vs Atlanta. 10 days is insane to expect cam to have the tools to be successful in game. These players get like 3 months of time to prepare before the first game. Cams gonna get like 4 weeks.
-
I’m fine with it until cam gets up to speed. But once he gets it down he needs to be the starter.

People forget how good Cam looked in Preseason
TheRumGone replied to hepcat's topic in Carolina Panthers
No it’s the opposite. He didn’t lead him because of the guy coming downhill. Threw it behind him. cam is actually one of the best in the league at protecting his wrs. Lots of dumb posters calling some passes inaccurate when it was actually cam protecting his guys.- 45 replies

That’s his ceiling though. The real deal is watching cam Newton’s first season, or Andrew luck’s first season. Those guys were “the real deal.” Mac Jones isn’t asked to do much and has a very firm ceiling. He doesn’t have the athleticism or the arm strength to really carry an offense. People talk about Brady but Brady was flicking 60 yard passes to receivers in his prime. He could throw it all over the field. Mac can’t do that stuff. Mac is very good at reads for a rookie. But he’s a Teddy bridgewater type of quarterback. They can only get you so far. This is all hype from the media because Mac is an unathletic white dude on Tom Brady’s former team. They are pushing a narrative hard.
-
Yeah I don’t know how anyone can watch the games and say “he’s the real deal” lol

Curtis is a different player in our system. That said he’s had major injuries issues and basically one full year of play.

Also just a reminder. Tampa was 7-5 going into their bye last year. Hope we catch fire with cam coming back and go on a run. -
A couple in interesting Cam things from nfl.com
TheRumGone replied to ladypanther's topic in Carolina Panthers
If cam is only marginally better than darnolds play this year he should be resigned while we figure the QB situation out. Remember the FO wanted him on a two year deal. He wanted 3 or 4. It provides stability. We can’t keep going through all these trash qbs. We need to draft one. I expect him to be at the very least competent. He’s a ten year vet. But knowing cam he’s probably gonna ball the fug out. Not 2015 style but he just feeds off this type of energy, people doubting him, ect. He just seems to shine in these types of situations.
