He took over a horrible Greg schiano roster and gutted it. Similar to what we did in 2020. Went 2-14 drafted jameis then went 6-10 and was fired. This is normally what happens when a new coach comes in but he was never given a 3rd year. Which is weird. When they made a 4 win jump and secured a franchise qb. Like Rivera went 6-10 after drafting cam then 7-9 then the playoff jump. No 3rd year for lovie. Which again is weird considering his track record with the bears.

I dunno about that. He had a winning record as a HC for the bears. He got fired after a 10-6 season. Coach of the year, super bowl appearance. Winning record 5 out of 9 seasons in a very tough nfc north division at the time. It’s actually kind of odd he hasn’t gotten another shot. Unless he just doesn’t want to be a HC anymore. 5-11 11-5 13-3 7-9 9-7 7-9 11-5 8-8 10-6

Well Kenny checked down for a 30 yard td so the Teddy comp is accurate lmao. Rhule probably flipping out.

ESPN sim: Cam re-signs for 1 yr, Pickett #6

Well with that logic Jimmy garrapolo is a better qb than Tom Brady because the 9ers went further in the playoffs. Have fun with your distorted views of reality. -

Wrong. Funny how Mac Jones goes to a good org who literally had to hide his offensive deficiencies in order to win. One game they won he threw like 2 passes. The entire game! Fields goes to a dumpster fire lame duck situation with a HC who doesn’t know how to use him and he still flashes against GB and the Steelers and yet dumb people like you say “Mac was the right choice, fields meh” you people are either very stupid or you know what you’re doing on purpose. -

Real bad if rhule maintains control. Like I could see some very, very dumb poo that hampers us for the next couple of seasons for not good players. It’ll be hard to get a good staff to come in next if he does that. -

Yes he does. But I would refuse to not take a talented qb because the staff sucks. For all we know they could be gone next year. I made a similar point in another thread that it could be a bears situation. Drafted fields with a lame duck coaching staff, fired them got a new GM and HC and they’re on record saying they’re gonna build around fields. And to be clear I’ll be shocked if they take Willis, even tho we should, because rhule has shown what types of qbs they like like and that’s ones you have to win championships in spite of. -

I don’t want Pickett and Mac Jones sucks and won’t move the needle. Weak ass arm. Can’t stretch the field. if we want to try and hit a home run with a qb pick at 6 then we should pick Willis. He is the only qb in this draft with elite traits. -

Same way I would’ve felt if we chose Mac Jones over Justin fields last draft -

I’ll be upset only if Malik is still on the board and we choose this Teddy 2.0 qb over him. -
Worst Kept Secret at the Senior bowl (Panthers Interest in Pickett)
TheRumGone replied to ncfan's topic in Carolina Panthers
You’re thinking in terms of one year, next year. We pick Willis it’s not like Matt Rhule 100% would still be the coach in the coming years or that we couldn’t build up the team with Willis still on the roster. I get that line of thinking but we’d have Willis for 5 years locked in. the bears traded up for Justin fields with a terrible HC, fields flashed, they fire the staff and bring in a new GM and HC that said they’ll do what it takes to support fields. You gotta take the talent if it’s there regardless. Never know when you’ll have another chance. -

We should probably just go ahead and take Willis if the Steelers are willing to move up that far. -

it would be the most panther/rhule poo ever to pass on the most dynamic qb in the draft for Teddy two gloves 2.0 -

Worst case scenario. We pick Pickett, Steelers take Willis and we get to watch a successful, well ran and coached org make Willis into a perennial pro bowler, playoff team for the next decade plus. -

Closest comp is RW to me. Willis can get chased down but he has elite initial burst and escapability. Beautiful deep ball, very good backyard football player but needs development in the pocket and reading nfl defenses. Similar to RW coming out. I’m taking the chance on that at 6 then a Teddy bridgewater comp. -

Nobody is saying he’s another cam Newton. People are mentioning they went to the same HS and he played on Cam’s 7 on 7 team. -

The packers OC was also the OC of the jaguars and made a Blake bortles led offense top 5. He has a good track record before GB on other nfl teams as well as college. He’s a smart dude. I think daboll is gonna bust hard in New York tho.

Yup. You take the prospect with the bigger chance of being elite if you want to win super bowls. And you coach them up and support them with weapons and a line. That’s just how it is now. People talk like Pickett has the highest floor and I don’t see that at all. I see his floor being Jimmy Clausen. Malik has everything you want in a franchise qb he just needs to be molded. And if you read up on him teammates gravitate towards him. He’s a leader. Yeah he could bust, they all can. But what would people rather have. A guy with insanely high upside? Or a guy we hope can be a little better than a game manager. I’m taking the upside with the way the game is played today. Malik has superstar potential. Anyway I’d be shocked if rhule and co pick Malik because he’s literally everything that rhule doesn’t want in a qb based on what we’ve seen from him already with his qb choices and what he says he likes. Hope they prove us wrong.

He’s confident, yet grounded, self-aware and calm. Willis possesses similar traits to his hometown hero Cam Newton. “I went to the same high school (as him). I went to Wesleyan for three years. He would always drop in and stuff,” Willis said. “I played for his seven-on-seven team. He always gave me a little affirmation that I could keep for the rest of my life. He has definitely been a big part of this.” nice.

Yeah Madison is a nice city for a young family if you got the money for it. The isthmus is really beautiful. Bike paths everywhere, very dog friendly. Ice age trails. I moved far into the woods away from people and prefer it that way tbh. But closer to chicago and Milwaukee from where I am now. Check out k peppers. It’s a very small Korean restaurant and probably my favorite in the entire city. Amazing food. It’s in the Middleton part of town. I always try to tell people about that place who are in the area. They have weird hours so I’d check their website.

Malik is the only qb worth the #6 pick in this draft.
