Also I know people don’t like to hear this but dj and cmc have similar skill sets. It’s why you saw dj slide into some of cmcs role when he was out last year.
-
Dj doesn’t have an injury history. He’s reliable and just signed his new contract. He also will be 26 next year which is not old for a receiver. He doesn’t take the abuse runningbacks do and our new qb next year needs a reliable vet target. Makes sense to keep him. Also as others have explained if we traded him his dead cap hit would be insane like 40 million dollars.

Welp… Stroud is the guy, right?
TheRumGone replied to TheMostInterestingMan's topic in Carolina Panthers
So the knock on stroud is he throws to wide open receivers with the scheme he is in but when I watch cut ups of his games on YouTube I see him threading the needle and making insane off platform plays with receivers being draped in coverage. I’m guessing people are scared because it’s Ohio state. The ONLY hesitation with Bryce is his size because otherwise everyone knows he’s a baller. -
This is really cringy and tells me everything i need to know.

Sorry your favorite player got traded
-
Damn this really broke y’all’s brains. moore should be off the table and I don’t care how old he’s gonna be when we “can compete.” The new rookie qb needs a reliable receiver from day 1 and dj is reliable and is not injury prone.

We pretty much have to take a RB on day 2 in the draft, right?
TheRumGone replied to t96's topic in Carolina Panthers
you have former star rbs coming out and saying if they did it over again they would’ve picked another position to play because the nfl doesn’t value them anymore and don’t like to give second contracts. Chris Johnson recently in an interview said that. -

The point is we don’t have to. We’re about to get a very talented qb that we need to build around. Don’t take a rb until 4th round or later. Take positions of better value in the second or third rounds like te, lineman or wr. Build this team the correct way. it is so weird reading some of these posts. It’s like some people don’t watch how other successful teams are built. -

Better chance than cmc staying healthy and justifying those cap hits. Im sorry your favorite player got traded.
-
You were ranting and raving that Matt rhule wouldn’t be fire for SEVERAL more seasons and then he got fired like the next day.
-
Dude you thought he wouldn’t fire Rhule for a couple more seasons. You might wanna stop with over the top predictions if you missed an easy one like that.
-
It is a haul for a 27 year old often injured running back. I thought we’d be lucky to get a second. We got 3 other picks on top of that. It’s not mental gymnastics that fitterer imo should be fired for the capital he gave up for Darnold and baker. Especially Darnold. That is a fireable offense imo. But even if he didn’t do those things this was still a good move and a good trade.

That 4th overall grade is dumb
-
The logic is cmc is overpaid and often injured and is going to be 27 years old next year. It makes sense to do this now while actually getting something for him instead of risking another injury to attempt to build around our new franchise qb next year. Cmc is not the future. That “excitement, explosiveness and production” netted us 5 wins where he barely played when he was paid to be the centerpiece of this offense.
-
We did actually when we signed him to the biggest rb contract in nfl history that two years later still hasn’t been topped. He proceeded to not be on the field much after that.

PFT ARTICLE: The Panthers slide squarely into tank mode
TheRumGone replied to WarPanthers89's topic in Carolina Panthers
Maybe but like I said I’d take the chance of the picks over cmcs age and health over the next couple of years we could absolutely fug this up. Draft the wrong qb, draft the wrong weapons, sign the wrong coach but it doesn’t matter if cmc is still on the team cause we’d still suck if that happened lol -
Yes. We basically took the rest of their draft with this trade.

TheRumGone replied to WarPanthers89's topic in Carolina Panthers
It does if you are betting on his age and injury history being a significant problem over the next two years compared to the chances of hitting on some 2nd and 3rd round picks. I personally don’t see him being on the field enough to justify his cap hits over the next couple of years. I really think a lot of this is an emotional response which I get. Again we’re not competing next year cmc or not cmc. I’d rather have the chance at a more rounded team with these draft picks and cap savings. Now if we trade DJ I’m going to be mad. -
They won’t. I honestly don’t think cmc moves the needle that much for them. If they can get healthy they might have a chance but like I said earlier this reeks of desperation and is a huge gamble on an oft injured but talented rb

You still can’t face the fact that cmc is going to be 27 next year and is injury prone. I’d rather take our chances with two #2’s to draft two playmakers or a center. This is all about protecting and giving the new qb tools. Young tools to grow with. Cmc was never long term. We actually got a good haul for him. #1 priority should be protecting our top pick next year. #2 is providing weapons to grow with him. This isn’t getting fixed next year but this is a step in the right direction imo. -

I’m actually surprised you’re this upset about cmc being traded with how much you know this is a qb driven league and we need to tank. we can tag burns, he can see after this draft what direction we are going with a new coach and a top QB. Or we can get draft capital from him I don’t even care. This had to happen. The defense knows the offense is complete trash and holding this team back and the FO is doing something about it. I actually applaud them for doing this because the backlash has been severe. -

Also that matchup vs Detroit we have we need to tank hard that game. Call up practice squad players. Say we’re evaluating for the future.
