Remember that preseason game in Buffalo in his second year (2015) and he was just dominating moving the ball down the field. Think he had 3 catches on that drive. One over the middle where he got flipped. Then capped it off with a highlight jumping grab in the end zone. It was right before he tore his ACL in practice. That was the quickest and most crisp he has ever looked. I remember people commenting that he looked much faster than last year. I really thought he was gonna be an all pro.

Yeah I just saw a recent mock on nfl.com that had fields drafted at #24 and to “sit for a year to learn.”Absolutely insane. If he’s there at #8 please draft him panthers.

I agree if we drafted slater in the 1st and this guy fell to our pick in the second I’d run to the podium. Having two tackles locked up for the next 4/5 years and letting moton walk would be HUGE for our cap. We could allocate more money to really good FA’s for the next several years and obviously good for whoever is our qb

Also how much are we going to be able to tell with Darnold? If he was the second worst that doesn’t bode well.

Yeah I kind of remember being baffled by some of the play calling in the 4th quarter specifically. Obviously this has been a Teddy problem since his time with the Vikings but it’s definitely something to watch with Brady.

There’s been rumblings that they view slater in the same class as Sewell so I think if one of the two are there we will draft one. there’s been a ton of talk we are high on pitts and waddle as well. I hope we do the right thing and take the tackle regardless. We desperately need to address this oline.

Darnold has never played an entire season. If he is actually gonna be good like so many posters here seem to think mayyyyybe we should have a quality backup that can come in for a game or four.

I think it would be unwise to take a TE in the top ten. And I know pitts is really special. It feels like a luxury pick when we have so many other holes in positions of high value. If all the top OTs and Qbs are gone I could maybe be ok with it. A trade up for Pitts? That would be horrible.

Also something to think about is Sam has never played a full season. So having a competent backup like Teddy would be ideal. But if we suck and Sam sucks then I don’t care whose the backup because at that point we need to be tanking. It also might be worth keeping him if we could maybe get a trade for him mid season if some teams starter goes down and they think they need a manager for a stretch. I just don’t see the upside in cutting him right now but that could change. Hopefully he gets traded.

I think Sam will put up some decent numbers in this system but the biggest thing is 4th quarter play in tight games. Same thing I said about Teddy.

I think Lance has the highest bust rate of any qb in this draft but also the highest ceiling so if they passed id somewhat understand even if I didn’t like it. If they passed on fields that is a huge red flag for me organizationally. I understand why they went with Darnold. It’s just the compounding nature of everything starting from last offseason to this one.
