I dunno. I’m talking contingent on Darnold if he just totally mentally bombs which I think is possible. I’ve been watching some of his games. Some of the poo he does makes no fuging sense. And they are huge backbreaking stuff. Like huge brain farts. We hope he can be coached out of that but I think some of that is just in his dna. Bad habits. Brady has a pretty qb friendly system so I’ll hope he can make the most of his opportunities. I’ll hope for the best.

I know

Yeah but this is also contingent on Darnold performing. Also I know he has medical concerns and if he’s ok with those I really think Marshall has the ability to be a #1 receiver in the future. I loved this pick and at the bottom of the 2nd was incredible value. He needs to hone in on his route running more but that will come with just being a professional and being surrounded by good coaches. Super talented and motivated guy. Brady was grinning ear to ear in the interview about drafting him.

We had 3 1k+ from scrimmage receivers last year and 1 1k+ from scrimmage rb. DJ Samuel and Robbie. I would be shocked if Moore is in over Marshall even at the beginning of the season. The targets are there. I think Arnold is overrated around here. He has like 700 total yards and 7 tds in 3 seasons. Brady doesn’t seem to use TE much but we’ll see if that changes. He could surprise. I think we might see DJ in the slot more with Marshall and Robbie lined up more outside. But Marshall can line up anywhere and produce which gives him flexibility for more targets especially in the redzone being 6’3” and 200 lbs. I’m usually not one to think a rookie WR can step in and make an impact but Marshall is kinda different.
-
I think he’s gonna play an impact role. One of the things not mentioned is he doesn’t have a learning curve with the playbook because of Brady. I see him stepping right in and performing. im not big on predicting stats. But I would be very surprised if he doesn’t have an impact year 1

optimistic side: A couple things that gives me a shred of hope for Sam is it seemed like he was on an ok trajectory from year 1 to year 2. He played pretty well down the stretch in year 2. Then the bottom fell out in year 3. Covid year, obvious tank job with absolutely horrendous personnel around him including a 37 year old rb, and a coach on the hot seat. It’s very hard for any young qb to succeed in that situation. I still think that some young qbs would still show more then Sam did in that situation but it’s very difficult to evaluate that year 3. year 1 2800 yds 17tds/15 int 77 rating 1 rushing td year 2 3000 yds 19 tds/13 int 84 rating 2 rushing tds keep in mind he has never completed a full season. so pretty ok jump from year 1 to year 2. Usually we see a huge jump in year 4 or 5 for raw qb prospects like Darnold and Allen. pessimist side. This dude is damaged goods. Terrible situation, terrible coaching creating a lot of very bad habits that can be very hard to break. Major processing issues. Does better outside of structure then within which is a double edged sword because while he makes plays that only top shelf qbs in the league can make he also makes super dumb decisions that you absolutely cannot make in this league. Back breaking turnovers. Just as a fan this season it’s gonna be super interesting to see how this turns out and I’m really glad we aren’t having another year of a known boring teddy bridgewater year so for that I am thankful.

My guess is he plays next season mayyyyybe end of this upcoming season if jimmy gets injured again or sucks. literally everyone here who liked Lance as a prospect acknowledged that he would need a season or two of development. poo Aaron Rodgers sat what 3 years before he took over? I get this is a little different with the trade up and top 5 selection. But this isn’t surprising at all and I think the 9ers are dead serious about him sitting a year or two.

Pretty comprehensive Analysis about Panthers draft.
TheRumGone replied to Ivan The Awesome's topic in Carolina Panthers
Yeah and said terrace was just a very good athlete in his cons? terrace had a 9.94 RAS score. 15th out of 2480 wrs since 1987 lol. He’s an elite athlete. Someone that big running a 4.38 40 is insane. -
it would be the most jets thing ever if they gave up on a top 5 qb pick that ends up becoming a top 10 qb in the league while the qb they just drafted busts hard.
-
Lol this dude is gonna get cut this year.
-
Teddy was 0-8 in those situations so yeah hopefully.
-
That’s not the pressure situations I’m talking about. 49ers were winning 31-6 when that play occurred. I’m talking 4th quarter game on the line plays. Teddy failed miserably. I have no idea how Darnold will be. i said in that post darnold can make plays that like 5 qbs in the league can make because he is talented but it’s putting it all together that most people have concerns about.
-
Darnold is a backyard QB. That isn’t a slam. Mahomes is a backyard QB but he was able to put it all together within and outside structure. Some of these plays are impossible to know what is going on and some are obvious. He definitely has processing issues. Was Gase telling Darnold where to throw? Because dudes are wide ass open and he’s literally looking right at them and not pulling the trigger. I see all sides of this. Gase is a horrific coach. Darnold should be making easy layup passes that he missed (while staring right at the fuging receiver), and some of the play designs are issues we had with Shula and Cam. Very low percentage throws. I hope the coaching staff dumbs this down for him until he gets more confidence to put more on his plate. Nobody can deny the raw talent is there. Off script he does things like 5 qbs in the league can do. Brady obviously runs a much better system that is qb friendly and I do think Sam is going to have a career year here but I have no idea how he’s gonna react in pressure situations.

Tryin’ to make a roster out of Fitty cents (A Horn and a tackle)
TheRumGone replied to SCP's topic in Carolina Panthers
hell yeah friend welcome back -
It wasn’t drugs. There was some rumors of a dorm room incident that took him completely off some teams boards. I read some Iowa boards and apparently that coach defended him and not the others who were involved. Apparently that coach is no BS. So I think it was an incident where he was just there. But that’s just speculating. This was early in his career. I have no idea what the incident was. This is the only thing I can think of that would make him fall this far.

Carolina Panthers wide receivers - Who sticks?
TheRumGone replied to Zod's topic in Carolina Panthers
Only way I see Robby traded is mid season if we suck. It would be a good move then but right now Darnold needs to have all the weapons available to see if he can turn things around. -
Brady Christensen vs Bucs 1st rd pick Joe Tryon
TheRumGone replied to ncfan's topic in Carolina Panthers
Except jaelon Darden. I wanted us to draft him bad. Could’ve been a day 1 PR. -
I guess he was not trash enough to play and start on the super bowl winning KC team when injuries happened that year. He can play multiple positions on the line not just left tackle. There is a place for him. I thought his contract was way too much and I don’t want him starting but injuries happen every year. keeping Erving doesn’t mean we can’t sign Leno. Little needs to be cut though. That guy is an absolute bust.
-
Erving has a place as a backup and can play multiple positions on the line.

Interesting note about Terrace Marshall
TheRumGone replied to ladypanther's topic in Carolina Panthers
“Marshall used to go around the LSU locker room and pick up teammates’ dirty laundry so it wasn’t all left to the equipment staffers. He gathered balls after workouts. He picked up trash. He helped walk-ons and treated them like equals. He was one of the more beloved people in the LSU football building, because he was one of the highest-character individuals” -

If he can even be average to above average that’s a huge deal from a 3rd round pick. It would help us tremendously going forward. Also Keith Taylor is in that wash v byu game vid -
Relative Athletic Score for all drafted players
TheRumGone replied to Zod's topic in Carolina Panthers
Yeah that was a total homer post. Looks like the staff is hinging on him losing weight because he does have some skills but his weight cost him his RAS score. But those are the types of risks you take in the sixth round. He does have talent. -

Also Saints are another team that values RAS scores much like us. -
