Teddy Opens up About Carolina (CBS)
TheRumGone replied to CarolinaLivin's topic in Carolina Panthers
If teddy were good at those things on prior teams I’d probably believe this. But he’s been really bad at them across multiple teams brady obviously isn’t perfect and needs to work on some things but these criticisms sound really convenient to deflect blame on what teddy has historically been bad at. And teddy has shown he’s all about deflecting blame. -

that wasn’t an endorsement for Darnold. It’s just a fact. I wouldn’t have traded a 2nd rounder for a guy who threw 9 td passes last year. We got fleeced simply because Darnold is top 5 qb level talent but plays like a bottom tier starting qb/backup. everyone from the Jets org and even the fanbase love Darnold as a person and wish him the best. But that doesn’t mean anything on the field. I’ll hope for the best and will admit that I’m getting excited about the possibility of him playing within this system but I’m really not about to make proclamations that this’ll be the best transaction in panthers history. That is very silly. -

Some of those criticisms are valid and some are not imo. I thought you were speaking more to in game stuff. He’s never looked like this level was too big for him. He took a team that was either extremely young or talent deficient and were competing in just about every single game. And a lot of that had to do with coaching and being aggressive at certain times. We went toe to toe with the chiefs. We had no business being in that game. That shows promise to me. We’ll see if we can take another step this season. The strategy for drafting is something some teams do. I’m neither for or against it. Just have to see how it plays out. I’m glad they got rid of vets. We should’ve done a full rebuild last year. -

I’m curious why you think he’s struggling to keep his head above water at this level? I’m not saying this dude will for sure work out but I must be missing something. -

I have constructive criticism for Brady. He needs to get better situationally. Sometimes he gets too cute. Not as bad as chud. I have a very hard time believing we limited red zone to 15 reps a week and barely any two minute drills. Everything he says we didn’t practice a lot with he has historically been terrible across multiple teams. -

You think we really didn’t practice red zone and two minute drills? teddy literally couldn’t do what was being asked of him in those drills. he pointed out the things he struggles immensely with. Down field throws in two minute drills and red zone where he infamously said he wanted to audible to a run play when he missed a wide open DJ. It’s not the teams fault. It was his fault. There is no way at the professional level that we weren’t practicing 2 minute and red zone drills. That is insane. -

As an organization, there's things you can do better as well," he said. "I'll just say this, for (offensive coordinator Joe) Brady's growth, that organization, they'll have to practice things in different ways. One of the things we didn't do much of when I was there, we didn't practice two-minute (situations), really. We didn't practice red zone ... (But) I'm appreciative of the opportunity and I just keep it moving." I have a very hard time believing this -
I don’t put much stock in that because this is a completely different org from top to bottom. We’ll see in several seasons what our history is for different situations.
-
We might. Week 1s are very weird for most teams. But I’ll be surprised if Wilson doesn’t look like poo tbh
-
hopefully the defense gives Wilson a couple welcome to the nfl moments

I’m genuinely curious how it took a year and a half into the pandemic and a couple responses in this thread about the long term damage it causes some young people to realize that you had a shitty take? Aren’t you a nurse?
-
Not sure what that has to do with him being ok with Carolina.

I’m just shocked Rodgers would even want to come here

Whaaaaaaat

Rodgers wouldn’t even want to come here.

I’d rather pay an LT then an RT but the reality is Moton is the only good known we have right now. Which is why I thought drafting an RT might have been a good move for us. Use moton money to target a vet FA LT next year and let the 2nd year RT start.

Yeah. I think it’s ok to be looking at what happens with Fields in chicago compared to Darnold here. The staff made a decision that they’re gonna have to live with but it was a big decision for this franchise. Tbh fields landing in chicago might ease the doubts because that org is terrible with qbs. This isn’t something we are gonna know for certain after year 1 or even 2. We’ll see.

This is absolutely NOT why they call us “whine and cheese” fans lol

Scott Fitterer: We want Sam Darnold to just flush what's happened

Tbf Gase did not want bell and it showed. They didn’t run him the way he needs to flourish. Like a square peg in a round hole. Gase had major issues with play design and play calling. -
I think it was. There was a lot of talk about Simmons around that time that kind of matched up with what Rhule had said. Like a bunch of people came out and said “that sounds like Simmons.” Who really knows though.
-
Rhule had mentioned there was a top pick that he had talked to on an elevator ride and said after like a minute he mentally took him off the board because the guy didn’t fit what the team wanted.
-
I think Simmons was the guy Rhule talked to in the elevator

There was a “dorm room incident” 2 years ago and that’s all I could find. He was apparently cleared of all wrong doing.

Maybe. Teddy was consistent and conservative which is good and obviously very bad at times. Darnold is like the opposite end of the spectrum. Teddy could keep us in games by not screwing up and feeding the ball around like a point guard. But we could never rely on him to take over a game to win. Darnold has the ability to keep us completely out of games with turnovers and boneheaded mistakes. one thing is for certain Darnold is ten billion times more exciting then teddy.
