Official Panthers - Dolphins GameDay Thread
mcdougal replied to Jeremy Igo's topic in Carolina Panthers
That defense better be prepared to step up better than this. This team is built around them. Too much of our resources is tied up in that side of the field for them to allow two TD drives in 2 possessions. By the Dolphins. -
Official Panthers - Bills GameDay Thread
mcdougal replied to Jeremy Igo's topic in Carolina Panthers
Our offensive approach, once again, worries me. IMO, this offense is entirely too hard. Everything in the passing game requires Newton to hold the ball, the offensive line to hold their blocks, the WRs to run near perfect routes, and for Newton to make difficult, near perfect passes for no YAC. Everything, outside of our 2 minute drill or up-tempo offense, is entirely too labored. 70% of our drop backs should be quick, easy throws to WRs/TEs/RBs in space. Instead, 70% of our drop backs are slow developing, low percentage plays that even when completed/successful leads to zero after the catch ability. This is why I truly believe our offense will continue be inconsistent and wholly unreliable. Out of 16 regular season games, we will score 30 points...maybe once or twice, and have far too many games in the low teens. We have go to figure out a way to get into a rhythm offense. If you look at the league's best offenses, with the very best and most accurate QBs, greatest WRs, and Oline, less than 25% of their drop backs are what the Panthers are attempting on 70%. -
The butt-hurt and idiotic comments this forum regularly displays as it relates to Wilson is astonishing. Yet the same morons yapping about how much Wilson wants will think it's reasonable when Luck asks for the moon...for accomplishing less... The same morons who thought it was a good idea for the Bears to give Cutler that hilariously bad contract last year, or neglected to take the same stance when Drew Brees actually HELD OUT for not a penny less than twenty-two million. But you know, the Huddle...

God, I wish I could pie this more. In the season where Luck broke Newton's passing mark, he threw the ball 200+ more times than Newton did in his rookie year. The Colts literally throws the ball 40+ times a game...and that's when then have a 28+ point lead. I will give Luck credit for not throwing too many picks in the regular season (at least recently) given the amount he attempts but his total stats is garbage. This is like praising a NBA player for scoring 30 points while taking 38 shots...

Exactly. One would think if there was one fanbase that would get this by now it would be the Huddle... And Bowden comments were basically taken out of context in an interview via the biggest moron of them all, Paul Finebaum... You know, the same Finebaum that was demanding Winston be suspended permanently because Winston was taking money for autographs... Only to find out that the whole autograph nonsense was completely made up by his network, ESPN...

A little trouble in paradise (Seattle)? RW contract talks

That's funny. One one think our most herald defense can keep this "lucky" QB from registering a 130+ QB Rating in our latest playoff game... -
A little trouble in paradise (Seattle)? RW contract talks
mcdougal replied to nctarheel0619's topic in Carolina Panthers
Which is the reason why if you are Cam and Wilson you simply wait for the Colts to give Luck his overrated contract and then ask for the same. And Wilson, Newton, Luck, Tannehill, etc. are ALL going for broke. They were underpaid for the first part of their careers. They put in the time, proved themselves to be franchise QBs and now they expect to be compensated. Nothing wrong with that. -
Follow along Nancy. Seattle's defense scored more points in the SB than their offense? The Seahawks defense score all their points before the Seahawks offense? And Seahawks defense scored 5 seconds into the game, on the Broncos first offensive possession. But hey, lets pretend that the Seahawks were going 3 and out the entire first half prior to their offense scoring...because, you know, that fits your retarded narrative better...

Round 1 - Carolina Panthers Select Shaq Thompson
mcdougal replied to Jeremy Igo's topic in Carolina Panthers
I think it is great to support your team and GM during the off season... But can we all agree that if anyone who is currently supporting this move, and the moves in the off season we have made thus far... Creates any threads from late August through February complaining about Newton or our offense not putting up points be banned from posting on the Huddle? -
Official NFL Draft Round 1 Thread - General Chatter
mcdougal replied to Jeremy Igo's topic in Carolina Panthers
But my thing is this... The Colts have a defensive head coach...he got the job because he is expected to coach up the defense and do more with less...thereby allowing the dumping of a disportionate amount of resources into the other side of the ball... The Panther have the exact same foundation...1st time defensive head coach...#1 overall QB drafted the same year as the new coach... Since then, these organizations have gone in completely different directions... I respect what the Panthers are doing...but given our foundation in 2011...I think the Colts approach makes more logical sense. -
Official NFL Draft Round 1 Thread - General Chatter

If you look at Blake Brotles...you would notice that the Jags have done more for him as far as attempting to surround him with talent, in one draft than in about 5 years of drafting Newton... -
Official NFL Draft Round 1 Thread - General Chatter
mcdougal replied to Jeremy Igo's topic in Carolina Panthers
I will say it again. Gettlemen is entitled to pick who he wants and who are we to question it. At the same time, the Huddle should start banning people who create threads in October complaining about Cam or the offense not putting up 30 on the Seahawks. The Panthers clearly have a desire to lean on our defense...then as fans we should expect our offense to only not put the defense in bad positions. -
Jameis Winston: I didn't steal the crab legs
mcdougal replied to TNPanther's topic in Carolina Panthers
And most teens and 20 year olds do not make their University and community millions of dollars or get in trouble for cussing. Get over it. This story has gotten more attention than an a former NFL star being CONVICTED OF MURDER and is up for another DOUBLE MURDER. America. Priorities. GET SOME. -
Again, what Wilson and Newton and Colin and Dalton every one else should do, or should have done, is wait for Luck to sign his 25 million/yr dollar deal. When no one in the media questions why his overrated butt is getting paid 25 million a season, ask for something similar. When Luck once again fails to not have the highest QB rating, or lead his team further than everyone in his QB class, despite having by far the best talent/ easiest schedule, point to that as the basis of your contract. This time last year the Bears gave Jay Cutler a 100 million dollar contract, and NO ONE BATTED AN EYE. Many praised the deal and said, "well at least Chicago has their QB locked up long-term" this is despite the fact that Cutler has not accomplished 1/2 of the things Wilson has accomplished. Matt Ryan, same thing, Stafford, same thing, Rivers, same thing. Tannehill RIGHT NOW is about to get a new contract from the Dolphins (over 100 million) and NO ONE IS BATTING AN EYE. This after Ryan was about 1 second away from being BENCHED. ---------------------------------------------------- Therefore I find it most comical, that the Huddle, where we have never beaten Wilson, lost to Kaepernick in the playoffs, and lost to Dalton without AJ Greene, that THESE ARE THE QBS that are overrated and should not be paid franchise money. Newton, who best offensive player WAS A ROOKIE TAKEN AS THE 8TH PASS CATCHER, should not be given franchise QB money. Yet when Ryan or Cutler or Stafford gets paid..."Oh great...good for them and their organization." When Luck and Tannehill get their deal..."That's wonderful...those organizations are set for the next decade." Yet when another collections of QBs (Newton being in that group) WHO HAVE ACCOMPLISHED VASTLY MORE AND HAVE (IN SOME CASES) REPEATEDLY BEATEN YOUR TEAM (MANY TIMES IN THE PLAYOFFS)... "You know, that team should trade that QB, he is clearly overrated, and has no business being paid like a franchise QB." Sigh. The Huddle.

I cringe at the level of stupidity that accompanies this board when it comes to Russell Wilson, Colin Kaepernick, and Jameis Winston. The media, I expect this from them. This is exactly how the media treated one Cam Newton prior to his draft. But one would think given our up close and personal experience where Newton was daily attacked by the SAME media members, the collective intelligence of this board would rise. Like, "Hey, I've seen this before...the media said in 2011 that Blaine Gabbert was vastly more trustworthy than Newton, and Newton was an immature bust with character issues waiting to happen." Nope. Not the Huddle. All it takes is 2 seconds to actually READ the ACTUAL quotes from Winston's attorney...not write a 50 page critical analysis on the Civil War...but it takes 2 seconds...And one would find that the media is ONCE AGAIN full of BS...And the Huddle cannot even do that... This is the same media that was just called out by Fisher for making up the Winston autograph story out of thin air, but of course when they ran the headlines excluded those quotes and tried to make it appear as though Fisher was baselessly attacking the media.

Confirmed. The only people who like the Gators are those who were unfortunate live in Gainesville.

Makes sense now. Yea, I grew up in Fort Lauderdale so I was a big UM fan. I went to FSU and still UM was my second favorite college team. Still is. But I will always, always, always, hate the Gators.

Hater.

I will say it again, there was virtually zero threads or even posts on the Dolphins message board even mentioning Tannehill the week he laid a massive egg against the Bills preventing the Dolphins from getting to the playoffs. The exact same week the Huddle's front page was littered with threads (forget posts) criticizing Newton for not throwing the perfect pass to defeat the Saints and clinch the playoffs.

Well, the problem with these posters, and they are doing it on this very page in this very thread, is they will admit to that there is lack of talent surrounding Newton. But they quickly move from that platform and harp on their preconceived notions about Newton, or what he may lack. They usually begin their arguments with "Well, our offense could use some upgrade BUT Newton..." At times, they even appear to be reasonable, seemingly auguring that there is a 50-50 split between lack of skills at the WR/ OL, and things that Newton could improve on. They will at first talk about lack of talent in conjunction with things Newton needs to do to improve. But notice one thing about these posters, they NEVER show up in threads discussing HOW to get Newton more help. They NEVER actually express a DESIRE to get better on the outside or in the trenches. And often are critical of anyone who complains about what our GM is doing to improve the overall offense. However, they are in EVERY thread where criticism of Newton can be drawn. The pattern is very simple: complain, complain, complain about Newton and lack of offensive production in September through January. Become hostile to anyone that suggests making moves to improving said offense that they spent the better part of the Fall and Winter destroying their keyboard, in February through April. In May through August, they spend their time talking about their over-inflated expectation for Newton and the offense they just spent months either hostile or silent about making more explosive. Oh, they know the offense needs help, they will be the first one picking BOA whenever Newton leaves, if his replacement is depending on the likes of Philly Brown and Bersin to make critical catches in the playoffs all while being protected by the likes of Bell, who cannot even find a replacement home.

I am sorry, does anyone else notice a pattern from certain posters here? It has come to the point where the national media is even acknowledging the lack of help/talent around Newton, so it isn't just a bunch of "delusional" posters or "Cam nuthuggers" that harp on the "leaves much to be desired" cast surrounding Newton. Just yesterday, there was an article stating that this free agency period, the Panthers have failed to upgrade the players on offense to better assist Newton, and it used the phrase: "AGAIN." Which indicates that this is a routine occurrence for Newton and the Panthers. (Nobody is arguing that they are not reasons for this, such as lack of salary cap, but the FACT remains, Newton has been given disproportionately bad offensive help, considering his historically low rookie deal) Yet, the SAME posters who cry about Newton specifically, are the FIRST ones who come to the defense of the "talent" surrounding Newton. The SAME ones who are the MOST quiet during the week the Panthers win games, or right after Newton scores a TD, pretend that they have suddenly lost internet connectivity. The FIRST ones who remain silent about bringing in better talent on offense. And the FIRST ones who dislike any conversation which compares the cast of Newton to his peers. But, the SAME posters are the loudest when discussing any deficiency in Newton's game, MOST critical when the offense fails to score a TD (yet are very supportive when the Panthers allocates a bunch of resources to the defense), are the MOST active on the weeks that the Panthers lose (they strictly want to discuss whatever Newton failing they perceive), and MOST importantly tend to be posters who were among the most adamant not to draft Newton or most resistant to the idea of asserting Newton as the franchise QB. There are like 5 of them: High post counts, claims they are only "constructively" criticizing Newton, passive-aggressive in nature, over inflated egos, attacks posters who attempt to defend Newton, think that they are overtly intelligent, generally augmentative, and persistent in their beliefs in the face of evidence to the contrary. They are not trolls and are basically fixtures of the Huddle. They will even be somewhat happy if the Panthers do win a Superbowl with Newton (somewhat happy). And they are Panthers fans but generally have complete disdain for Newton. And I promise you, the day Newton leaves, is the day that THEY will suddenly start campaigning for the Panthers to start fixing the offensive line and lack of skill players issues. They will suddenly notice that maybe our lack of offensive firepower more comes from a Oline filled with un-drafted veterans and a WR core lead by a Rookie (the 8th pass catcher taken) expected to be No. 1 from game one, then it does a QB that 1/2 the time is in the Pro-bowl. Until then, they're more than content to advocate for as little help as possible on offense, so that they can voice their displeasure with it in October.
