For regular people not obsessed with lifting it could be an easy way to get healthier. I ended up purchasing a fuelband last night, so it should be here before weekend. I actually started using an app called Lose It which is free and after entering height and weight and target weight, it comes up with a target daily calorie intake and tracks your meals.http://www.loseit.com/
Now you might call it trendy or whatever, but when you actually start taking down your meals, you start to see things you didn't notice otherwise. I thought I was doing good loading up on fruit all day, but that is a lot of carbs that I don't always burn off depending on my workday. Also, I found a lot of hidden calories in how much salad dressing I used or assuming that because something is organic and healthy, doesn't mean it can't be loaded with calories, or sugar or carbs. Bottom line, using the Lose It app has been easy and it even comes with a barcode scanner, so I can just scan what I eat once and it saves it to my foods. I definitely recommend it to anyone that want to track their calories, carbs, etc.
Also, you can manually input exercise into app and it will convert the activity to calories burned, but it also can interface with Fueldband and wirelessly track info. I don't have a set exercise period during the week, so I do what I can during day, but I was curious what my activity level actually is. Here is a video comparing the Fitbit and Fuelband from CNET.
