  1. Interesting to note this..................Art Rooney Sr. bought the Pgh Steelers in 1933 and until 1969 his record was a laughing stock of 164 wins and 267 losses or .385. Their first ever play win came in 1972 which everyone football fans knows ended on a play call the "Immaculate Reception". Up until then only one playoff game they lost 21-0 in 38 years.......... Art was passionate about baseball and loved the horses and boxing (he was a golden glove boxer in Pgh). He was involved with steering the club through these losing years as an owner with little experience in football trying to figure out or meddling with the franchise. While owning the team he had 5 sons growing up living and breathing football being around the team and decided when they got older to let two of them who were driven as such (Dan and Art Jr.) to take over the nuts and bolts and as the "Chief" Art Sr. decided to step back and become a PR type guy as a friend to players and fans alike. This was in 1969.......and within 3 years the Steeler became the juggernaut of the 70s winning 4 SBs in 6 years. Now I'm not saying Tepper could back out and become like Art Rooney Sr. as I doubt his personality and ego doesn't fit such a role............but you'd think with him being a minority owner of the Steelers at one time he would have known this story and perhaps think he needs to step back and let others run the show.
  2. Is it me..........or is Cam seem to look like he's churning up that inner purple rain performer?
  3. I'm thinking tennis back in the 60s - 70s...........golf too during those times
  4. Said this from day one.........his frame is built more for playing tennis, should have been an Arthur Ashe. People say he is durable............nonsense, he's hasn't come across that hit yet what RG3 and Vick suffered both also slight framed but at least they had speed which Young doesn't. He's been lucky so far..........but the odds will catch up. Folks champions are born as much as they are made......genetics plays a huge factor in all aspects of life.........and Young doesn't have the genetic for the physical frame/muscle twitch fibers that it takes in today's NFL.
  5. so far the Ravens are winning the battle in the trenches ............Texans might be able to play a game with them but not if the lines can't match up to the Ravens. Could be a long day/night for Houston at this rate. What have I always said...................give me a dominate Oline......
  6. Let put the horse before the cart here......... Rather than the wrong QB......... Its more like the NFL and its group of owners approved the wrong person to purchase the Panthers. Everything else from that decision for the past 6 years is nothing but trickle down mistakes from the Tepper money tree pruning............
  7. Allow someone who has 40 years of corporate and sports marketing under my belt to chime in here. The NFL is in a market position that is somewhat similar to NASCAR.......although NASCAR is further down the rabbit hole of their fall from peak while the NFL is still trying to stretch riding out their peak now. All this PPV stuff has to do with two things..........on the NFL side reaching out to a new fan base to add to their aging fan base. On the Peacock side trying to expand their subscriber base going after sheer viewership numbers. Both know that if they have an increase in either they can secure a specific percentage of that temporary swell into their marketing fold for the longer term. Its somewhat a symbiotic relationship to is highly skewed toward Peacock's appetite to the NFL viewership base (since it is such a juggernaut in the US these days) than it is the other way around hence the package the NFL got out of it in revenue. Here is the reality and it has to do in great part with the demographic base......................look out over the past 20 years and today at any crowd at an NFL game or a NASCAR race event and what do you see?.................. A sea of White faces in a country that is turning Brown (Hispanic specifically) fast..........and by 2045 those sea of White faces will be dying off and become a minority in both attendance and consumption dollars. ......both NFL and NASCAR know that if they don't reach and hook Brown faces that they are going to be in trouble holding the attendance, ratings and viewership that has corporations watering for their audience.......NASCAR is seeing it now........the NFL is still riding high but knows its coming down the pike. Of course will the current dominate minority (aka Brown faces) become or have the consumer potential to fill the pockets of the NFL and Peacock? That's hard to say........... if they adapt it as part of their cultural entertainment choices for starters.......... ........but we do know this...... F1 racing and World Cup has had a very diverse fan base for many years now but those are world sports and market to 5 to 6 continents of nations on a regular basis these days. F1 started out as a Euro sport but did an incredible job of being worldwide while the World Cup has pretty much been there all along with their diversity. Demographics is destiny in marketing people.............in 1950 White Europeans where 30% of the Worlds population...today they are 12% and falling fast ..................while in the US they were 85% of the population in 1950 and are now 61% and falling fast to where they will be less that 45% in 2045. Do the math here............over the age of 50 in the US......Whites are 75% of the pop....... ...under the age of 21 Whites are 43%..................but and here is the key. Under the age of 5 years old in the US......Whites are 6% of the population. What does that tell the NFL whose target market over the past 80 years has been dominated by White audiences and their spending? So NFL and NASCAR are traditionally sports supported by a fan base vastly dominated by White audiences......................and if either of them don't know how to capture a diverse fan base they are going to struggle to become a mainstream sport and end up like horse racing and boxing which 120 years ago where more dominant than baseball and now look where they are at today. Now I make no observation here based on preference or criticism of any demographic change.........I'm just stating the reality of that and how it will impact the NFL moving forward. In fact there is a bigger problem for any sporting and live entertainment event that supersedes racial demographics...... .............and that is the psychographic or life style/cultural change of those under the age of 30.........most people today are more focused on their iPhones and video games to have any attention span for 3 to 4 hours in front of a TV set...........baseball is getting killed from this ADD culture embedded in the "life support system" of mobile technologies people carry around and stare into all day. I wouldn't want to be in the NFL or NASCAR shoes at this point......they have significant demo/psychographic challenges in the future to their fan and viewership bases moving forward.
  8. That will be ironic.............at least 40% of their home games will be played on a surface of snow. Hell .......it snows so much up there that they would average at least 2 ft. a year snowfall inside a dome stadium.
  9. Don't worry Big Brain has it all under control...........his control.
  10. make that ......Containment area of relocated yankees......
  11. Who in their right mind would want to come here and work for this...........
  12. The bigger picture here is that the Texans and Panthers both sucked at the same time............and now the Texans don't but the Panthers suck even worse.......... Which really begs the question...... ......how in the hell did the Panthers ever beat the Texans this year?............and more profoundly how in the hell did Young outplayed Stroud in that game? Somethings just don't add up............
  13. Its simple..........as a franchise the current ownership and front office of the Panthers represent the penalty box of franchises for aspiring NFL players. You go to Carolina its like going to Siberia during the USSR days.......and we ain't talking weather.
  14. Tepper valuing process and organization? In that case........he is Jerry Jones light. Gawd help this franchise.........get used to disappoint even if you win 10 plus games a season.
  15. Nor have they ever studied Newtonian physical laws of force and momentum.......
  16. the UFL???? Naw.......I don't believe in flying saucers
  17. The first team to have a practice field complex that has a market value greater than their current stadiu... oh wait..
  18. The season is complete...................and the greatest on record for me of the last 10 years. See America's team getting bitch slapped out of the playoffs like that is my super bowl. Jerry Jones turned a great franchise into the most hated team in America.............and for me I'm afraid Tepper will do the same for the Panthers. As long as Tepper owns the Panthers I will root for them to lose every game..........or else get as good in the regular season as possible and get blown out in the playoffs like Dallas just did. ....and along the way laugh my ass off at Tepper like I do with Jones when they show the press box after their egos get handed to them on a tray of pickled crows feet. What a year!
  19. There are certain cognitive reaction tests that apes perform better than humans do but that doesn't mean they can do human activities as well. The US put a chimp into space before humans because they could train it to do essential functions from a reaction test to condition it.........but one hardly thinks they could have exceeded as an astronaut. Test are what they are ..........indicators and not the end all to be all.
