Panthers will "pay any price" for Watson (via Sportsnaut via PFN)
unicar15 replied to top dawg's topic in Carolina Panthers
You have to remember that players have to be resigned. Picks don’t. So it makes no sense for the Texans to take multiple huge money players. There is a player limit on this but not a pick limit. Which im ok with. -
Kiper Mock 2.0: Mac Jones to Panthers at #8.
unicar15 replied to Proudiddy's topic in Carolina Panthers
This pick just seems to go against everything that Rhule believes in as a coach. He was brought in bc he DEVELOPS RAW TALENT. That’s the the entire premise of his $60 million contract. So at the most important position on the field...he’s going to abandon that entire mentality and draft a guy who is basically a finished product athletically? Like do we really see growth potential in Mac Jones? Bc that is what Rhule is looking for... There is no way we’re taking Jones 8th. We may take Jones in the 2nd if all the QBs are gone and we trade out of the pick or draft a player like Slater to anchor the line. But he isn’t going 8th. Not to the Panthers anyway.. -
Could we be sleeping on Mac Jones? Charlie Weiss says YES.

Tannenbaum seems to think that Jones is going top 10. Only way I’m good with Jones is if we have a top 5 OL. Otherwise he’s gonna be a miserable failure. He is going to HAVE to have a good line to succeed. -
PFT: Seahawks want three #1 as starting point for Wilson trade.
unicar15 replied to SCO96's topic in Carolina Panthers
I’m really hoping the Jets are looking big-eyed at Russ. Get him out of the NFC. Take a Watson contender out of the mix. Everyone knows NYC has been a preferred destination for RW for years now. Send the USC kid and a bunch of picks to play for Carroll. Match made in NFL heaven. -
If Watson doesn’t work out and the Jets draft Wilson I could see the Panthers moving back, acquiring picks...and trading an acquired 1st (either this year or next) or this years 2nd to the Jets for Darnold.

Three team deal if we can’t get Watson. Give me Tua and we can still make a QB upgrade.

Teddy Bridgewater Unfollows Panthers on Instagram
unicar15 replied to Proudiddy's topic in Carolina Panthers
Nothing would surprise me after this offseason. But cutting him before we secure a replacement would be an interesting decision. I get that the relationship probably isn’t salvageable. But why tip your hand before you’ve made a deal. There is more leverage in saying to the trade partner “we don’t HAVE to make a deal bc we still have Teddy.” Can’t help but wonder what his trade value would have been had he played with CMC this year. Probably looking at a 4000+ yard passer with more wins, 25+ TDs. Much easier to deal to a struggling rebuild. -
Why would the Jags do that? Only reason would be if Lawrence pulled an Eli and said he wants to play in CLT. Otherwise he’s a Jag... Meanwhile....Watson has already pulled an Eli which makes him being traded significantly more likely.

Two firsts and Burns. Sign Von Miller. Draft BB replacement. The end. This isn’t rocket science.

ESPN Predicts Watson to be the Panthers starter in 2021

For everyone who thinks hanging onto draft picks instead of getting an elite QB is the answer...behold the Browns. They managed to turn it around.....through free agency. -
ESPN Predicts Watson to be the Panthers starter in 2021

I’m so sick of this take. It completely lacks any basis in reality. -
La Canfora on Tepper's desire for Watson/franchise QB
unicar15 replied to top dawg's topic in Carolina Panthers
If you get Watson and then sign Von Miller while you try to find the Burns replacement in the draft....is that really a bad deal? How do we win more games? Rolling the rookie dice with Fields or Wilson and keeping Burns....or getting Watson and Von Miller while looking for prospect DEs. You can manufacture sacks and with schemes and other players....you can’t manufacture playmaking at QB. -
Dolphins have received many calls for pick number 3
unicar15 replied to Zod's topic in Carolina Panthers
It’s gonna be really ironic if Rhule ends up making a massive trade to move up that he’s tied to the rest of his tenure here...and if it fails he’ll likely lose his job. When instead he could have decreased his odds of catastrophic failure by losing a meaningless game....where failure would still end up in firing. But the assets he’d have otherwise would dramatically increase his chance for success. -
TB, CMC #8, 2022 1st, 2023 1st. If you don’t make that deal you are misinformed on what it takes to win a Super Bowl. We could draft Michael Carter out of UNC, resign Davis and may be the favorites out of the South in 2021. That’s how big of a deal Watson is....

CBS 2020 NFL Redraft -- 3 Panthers in first round
unicar15 replied to Tommy Jone's topic in Carolina Panthers
Interesting how highly thought of YGM is by this guy. If that’s the consensus then imo we clearly have assets to go get Watson even if it means keeping Burns, Chinn, and Brown. First round picks, YGM, Shaq. That is basically exactly what the Texans are asking for in return. -
Trade up for Fields. Trevor forces a trade to CAR to stay on the east coast (and out of NYC). Swap QBs and throw in next year’s first. Could happen.....
-
I ask again....What actually is the difference between Darnold and Burrow? Why could Brady not coach Darnold up and turn him into what he was predicted to be? Trade a 3rd or 4th for Darnold. Keep the 1st and draft Sewell or Slater. Tag Moton. That seems like just as good of a plan as trading a treasure trove for a rookie QB.

If you think RW tenure in SEA has been as respected as Mahomes in KC you’re joking yourself. He’s been consistently overlooked as the catalyst for that team..in deference to the “legion of boom.” There was also a ton of friction between Carroll, Wilson, and Schotty which ultimately led to Schottenheimer taking the fall for their failures.

Guy makes a lot of sense about us and Watson. (Good Read)
unicar15 replied to Big Sexy's topic in Carolina Panthers
He’s absolutely right about selling the farm to get Watson. Report came out today that Stafford has players calling him and the Rams to say they want to come to LA. You don’t need draft picks when veterans are willing to take less to win. Trade the picks, get Watson...watch guys LINE UP to play in Charlotte. That’s the way this game works. Forget the draft picks. Trade some players they want. Who cares...maybe make them take some contracts with them (TB, CMC). Go out and a sign Shaq Barrett, Hunter Henry, Ngakoue, Patrick Peterson...But none of it matters without the QB. None of the players that we get to keep matter either. You think SEA cares that they’ve lost some talent in order to retain Russell Wilson? -
If they fire Pederson and then turn around and trade Wentz...unless it’s for a top 10 pick they just need to blow up that front office.
-
Wilson to me is someone where if he falls to us then take him. But don’t trade up for him. The one beef I would have with the Turbisky comp is that Wilson looks significantly more accurate than Turbisky ever was. Turbisky ran a bunch of dink and dunk easy stuff in Fedora’s offense with the occasional lob downfield set up off all the action. His best completion % was 68%. Wilson runs a downfield offense with a bunch of intermediate and downfield routes. His percentage was an insane 74%. He basically threw for the same amount of yards as MT with 100 fewer attempts. That’s an INSANE STAT.

It does if Gruden wants a QB to groom and CAR doesn’t like the options
-
What if the Raiders offered #17 and Carr for #8? Pick up a quarterback and a pick. I wouldn’t be mad about coming out of the first round with Carr and Surtain or a starting OT.

Schefter thinks Darnold worth 1st rounder if traded
unicar15 replied to Ja Rhule's topic in Carolina Panthers
Darnold is going to be as good as the system and talent around him. I think that if we traded for him and he played in Brady’s system he’d be good. I worry about when Brady leaves tho... We need a QB who is going to thrive no matter the system...and be excellent in a great system.
