  1. Mahomes is the exception. Not the rule. Just gotta remember that. So if you can add someone who scouts are comparing to Jalen Ramsay and try to build the team with defense instead of taking a risk on 1st round QB..I don’t mind that.
  2. Alim is gonna be a monster. HS middle linebacker to NFL DT in 3 years....that dude is still growing.
  3. I think Darnold being more capable than Teddy moving the ball downfield and CMC being healthy will propel this team into the playoffs.
  4. We need to add an experienced, capable LT to this roster. Scott isn’t the answer. Little is a complete wild card. Christensen is a rookie. Not sure if they have any plans for Moton at LT. They’re paying him a bunch of money on a franchise deal. It’d be nice if he was able to make the permanent move. But if not I think you have to sign someone like Leno who was a cap casualty more than a performance casualty. The Bears were a dumpster fire with Trubisky and Leno was still within the top 10 tackles in the league as far as sacks allowed. Gotta assume some of those sacks are on MT. Bring him in on a one year deal. Let one of the young guys develop behind him.
  5. Whether we make the playoffs is going to be on Darnold. I know everyone wants to pretend that’s not the case...but it is. We were a one possession away kind of team last year...bc of the QB. We get CMC back. We added a lot of defensive talent. As was mentioned in OP the OL is good enough...not great. But good enough. The missing piece is the QB. Let’s see what he can do....if he’s not the answer then we’re probably looking at 2023 before we potentially have the answer bc it’s unlikely a rookie is going to come in and start next year.
  6. Horn - A+ if Darnold plays well as I think a true lockdown corner is second only to QB in rarity. The only other player on the board I would have preferred (if Darnold sucks) is Fields. Hence...why it’s only an A+ if Darnold doesn’t suck. Marshall - A - Needed to replace Samuel. Marshall is a more talented player with higher upside. Christensen - A - I’m trusting the RAS on this one. If you can find an elite starting guard potential tackle in the 3rd round it’s a home run. I think he’ll be one or the other. Tremble - D - Looks a lot like the other TEs we already have. Dunno who else I would have picked...maybe another OG? Not thrilled with it but maybe they have big plans. That’s like a B+?
  7. The quality of players matters a lot. The Jets were terrible at drafting and nobody wanted to go there in FA. Darnold is basically going from a bottom five skill group to a top 5 skill group. It makes a big difference if the route to the flat or a slant goes for 40 instead of 5...the quality of skill player makes a big difference in that metric. If you watch Darnolds highlights (not the best metric but it’s something)...he’s constantly making really really difficult attempts. His positive yards weren’t based on a great skill player taking it the distance on a easy completion. For the most part it was him making high level of difficulty completions.
  8. A three-year starter at BYU, Christensen was a consensus All-American in 2020. He posted PFF's highest-recorded grade for an offensive lineman (96.0), besting Penei Sewell's 2019 grade. Tepper strikes me as a guy who really likes metrics... I think if he was 20 instead of 24 he would have easily been in the discussion for a 1st round pick after his workout. His workout was insane, his production is insane. His age is a turnoff for a league mostly built on projection.
  9. Well no matter the rest of the draft I think we have three day 1 starters (barring injury). Horn will obviously start. Marshall will take over Samuels reps. Christensen will start at guard even if he isn’t the starting LT which could be a possibility. Well done. So glad we don’t have to live through Hurney’s random reaches and horrific trade ups.
  10. No. Old boss would have freaked out and taken some no-name tackle or guard and lied about “potential.” New boss takes a 6’4” late round 1 talent who needs some good coaching to be a potential solid #1 or #2....
  11. I feel like if you take a corner at 8th then you need to feel like an entire side of the field is locked up. The rest of the guys (Pride, Buoye, Jackson) should be able to hold down the rest. Is the DB from UGA going to be plug and play above those other guys who are more seasoned? I doubt it. Get the safety from TCU if you want another DB. He could start day 1 over Burris likely. If there is a day 1 starter on the OL would also rather have that....just don’t want a project player. If the player is a starter that’s all I care about.
  12. If Horn is good then he changes everything. Pressures, field position, turnovers. Cam’s best year was a year where our def we gave him the best starting field position in the league. Really underrated part of the stat sheet.
  13. Completely agree. You can play Pride or Bouye opposite Horn and move Jackson to his more natural position. The talent in the secondary is as good as I can ever remember. The position pick is good. A corner who can shut down an entire side of the field is profoundly rare. It completely changes the defense. So if they think he’s that guy...he’s for sure worth this pick.
  14. If they can trade up for Darrisaw or Eichenberg I think you have to...you cannot put your eggs in the Darnold basket and not try to fortify the line.
  15. Marshon Lattimore? Saints went from 7-9 picking 11th to 1st and 11-5. He was the major addition that year and has been a stud for them.
  16. Really concerned the Chargers may see him as the missing piece. Willing to give up a lot to get him.
  17. Flowers was a guard and to me this just means they like depth at the position.
  18. Yep. I want their 1st and 2nd this year and 1st and 2nd next year to do that deal.
  19. If we are passing on Chase there better be some day 1 picks (not pick) in these trades.
  20. Huh? This is how it worked out for the Chiefs: #31 overall sent to BAL for proven franchise LT Swapped #94 overall for #58 overall Swapped 2022 5th for 2022 6th (who cares?) Traded 4th round pick straight up. Not exactly sure how the Chiefs got fleeced?
  21. It seems like we could have come up with the compensation necessary to do this deal given our need.
  22. This is exactly right. If you have a chance to draft Chase outside the top 5 and you choose to trade down you better be a magician in the 2-3 rounds and your coach better know how to coach. Or else you’re gonna look really foolish.
  23. Who are you thinking specifically in that scenario?
  24. I think that the trade down talk is mostly just smoke to try and open all possible options for Fitterer at #8. However, if Fields or Lance are there and a bidding war ensues from teams like Pats, Broncos, WFT it could prove difficult to say no. That said...I think Chase is probably the best player in the draft after Lawrence. If for some reason Chase and Fields (potentially QB of the future) are there at #8 do you think we still trade down? To me that would mean the draft result somewhat like this.. 1. Lawrence 2. Wilson 3. Jones 4. Lance 5. Sewell 6. Pitts (Mia has weapons at WR already..Pitts fills a need at TE as well) 7. Slater (Lions also heavily rumored to be interested in best defender so could be Parsons or Surtain as well). 8. Chase - It’d be shocking to have a player like him fall this far. But not completely unrealistic. So...do you trade out knowing teams may want to trade up for Fields (ahead of Denver). Do you take Fields and let him sit? Do you take Chase knowing he looks like a future All-Pro?
