  1. Someone tell me why we aren’t trying to trade Brian Burns and some future picks for a QB????
  2. All Teddy would have done is get us 2-3 more wins and we’d be picking 13th instead of 6th with a 2nd round pick. Thats not changing much…. If anything trading for Darnold SHOULD give an indication to Tepper as to who he’s got running this team. A dude who’s a good but not great coach that couldn’t deliver on his Darnold gamble.
  3. Man Idt anyone has hit it closer in the history of Panthers mocks. Tepper is about to reveal whether he cares about building or cares about seeing a wager through to the end. If he cares about building and winning he’ll veto this pick. If he cares about seeing his bet through to the end he’ll draft Pickett in one of the worst picks in draft history…
  4. I would not pass up the opportunity to draft an elite LT in order to get Willis and a possible starter at G. I don’t hate the Willis pick…I just don’t see him as a starter in 2022. If he’s not a starter in 2022 then you’re better off building the OL with an elite LT, sucking again, and drafting Stroud or Young.
  5. Cousins would be Carolina’s version of Jimmy G. If you surround him with enough talent then he can get you deep in the playoffs. The problem is……do we have THAT much talent? I would think with that contract you could probably land him with a 3rd or 4th round pick or a 2nd next year.
  6. Icky is a ridiculous run blocker. As a State fan I’m terrified of what our offense will look like without him. As a Panthers fan I’m drooling thinking about how many holes he could open for CMC. His pass blocking skills are excellent as well and will be an upgrade regardless. The Panthers are a mockery right now. If they found a way to get a good vet QB AND draft Icky then I honestly think we go from outhouse to penthouse in one season….
  7. He’ll be there. And no I don’t expect him to be ok trading first round picks unless it’s for more first round picks or a championship-level veteran QB.
  8. I think swinging for a QB is a good move (especially this year with our draft options). But Tepper is about to get a serious dose of reality when star QBs give his coach the stiff arm.
  9. Yup. Then look at expenses for the OL. It’s been know for a lonnnnnnng time that the OL makes the RB. You’re much better off paying for tackles, guards than you are RBs.
  10. The very first description from SI is exactly why he’s QB1…not Pickett. He has the physical skill AND mentality. I would take him at 6 and not look back. If we solve the OL then Corral would be the future. Honestly I wouldn’t be shocked if he works out and shoots to top 3
  11. If we’re taking a QB at 6 then I’d rather it be Corral and then Willis. Corral has plenty of arm. He looks like a combo of Zach Wilson and Russell Wilson. I think he’s gonna explode after his workouts assuming he’s healthy. Willis is the closest comp to Vick I’ve seen. He’s 6 feet. He’s blazing. He has a cannon. He isn’t built like Lamar Jackson but is equally as quick. He’s thick in his hips and upper legs so I don’t think he’s going to be injury-prone. If the right staff gets him then I think he could be a really good QB in the future. Pickett has zero characteristics that excite me. None.
  12. His footwork is literally almost identical to Darnold. He’s got nervous feet bouncing around. He’s scared in the pocket. He turns his back to the field in order to evade IN THE POCKET. He literally looks like a high school QB. Oh well. If we take him and he’s a complete disaster (which he will be) then Rhule gets canned and we get Stroud or Young. We will have missed out on a potentially legendary OT class but hey….can’t have everything.
  13. Not to mention he sat out a huge bowl game opportunity. I mean if he goes out there and shreds Michigan State then I would have had a lot more respect for him. Maybe still not top 10 respect. But if he goes 30/45, 300+ and 2-3 TDs on MSU then Im at least not laughing at a team taking him top 10. Everyone comparing him to Burrow needs to remember that JB went for 450 yards and 3 TDs and put up 46 on Bama. He didn’t opt out of any games….
  14. Gabbert is actually a really good comp. Wide open offense. “Prototype pocket passer” coming out with a ton of questions about if he had peaked. Good but not great athletically. Did he make good decisions or did the offense make good decisions for him? Same thing here.
  15. Yep. Watch the screen routes they called. He would literally stare down the back, pat the ball to steady himself, then shove it toward the back like he’s playing a backyard pickup game. Y’all think he’s gonna be able to misdirect all pro linebackers when it takes him an extra 1-1.5 seconds to get a throw off? No way. He’s going to be a turnover machine and the playbook is gonna be crazy limited. You know who his comp is? Jake Frohm. This would be like us drafting Jake Frohm in the top 10.
  16. Here’s the thing…if Pickett really does have record small hands. Wouldn’t that be the anti-analytics QB?
  17. If he didn’t have the hands of a high school sophomore 1st basemen then I wouldn’t mind taking Pickett. I agree that he has a nice body of work. He’s reasonably athletic. He seemed to make good decisions at Pitt. But the dude cannot grip a pro football. Period. He was shoving it down the field in the senior bowl. He’s going to be a turnover machine. IDC how many good decisions you can make. The NFL requires tight window throws and velocity. You have to get something on the ball…and idk if he can with tiny hands.
  18. I’m going out on a limb after that performance that you could trade back and pick up a 2nd round pick and probably get yourself into position to get a really good OL at 10-13 AND whatever QB you want. The question is….why would you? Just stay put and take BPA at a position of our greatest need. Rhule is cooked anyway. Don’t sacrifice getting a really good player to try and give him a lifeline.
  19. If Fitterer and Morgan are managers worth their salt I’m gonna say there will be some massive infighting from the coaching staff with the front office. Because that will essentially mean that Fitt puts the brakes on any talk of taking a player other than BPA at #6….and we’ll take the tackle. No veteran trade. No trade back. No rookie QB. He will take the top player on the board (which I suspect will be Cross, Neal, or Ekwonu) and tell Rhule to make it work with the QB he asked for. Darnold or the door for Rhule. He made his bed imo.
  20. If Fitterer is smart he’ll take the tackle and just realize….if we suck we’ll be in position for Stroud, Young, Rattler, or one of the other 1st round players. Who probably all have better tools than the guys coming out in ‘22.
  21. Sam Darnold had a top 5 grade. The one thing that separates Darnold from Pickett you could argue is decision making (basically turnovers). But I honestly think Pickett is a game manager at best. Which imo is worse that drafting a terrible QB bc then nobody will ever move off him. You end up with Matt Ryan or Ryan Tannehill. Just good enough to not get replaced but not good enough to win any big ones…
  22. Per attempt to Robbie and DJ they had one if the highest drop rates in the league. It’s impossible to evaluate if that’s because the QB sucked or bc they have shaky hands. Maybe both. My gut feeling is that DJ is probably worth top 10 money. The question is do you give him that deal if you don’t have a QB to throw it to him? Not having a top 10-15 QB just completely screws the ability to evaluate anyone appropriately.
  23. I’d be much happier with Willis or even Strong. I have no interest in Pickett. He played a weak schedule as a 5th year senior in a bad division. He did what he SHOULD have done as basically the most senior player in the entire conference….
  24. Welp. The good news is that the Bills picked Manuel and LOOK AT THEM NOW! That’s gotta mean something.
