If the engineer of the Roman aqueduct continued to flood the city and poison the people do you think the emperor would keep the engineer or try to find a replacement who could lead the offense?
-
This is counter cultural for typical management. When dudes as smart as Tepper do things that are patient and counter cultural….it usually pays off.

I’ve looked at a few of these and I think the Jets are definitely moving up off of 10. They’re going to want an impact rusher and an impact receiver. If Walker, Thibs, Hutchinson, Wilson fall past #5 then imo they’re coming up. Not sure it’d be for Neal. Sounds like maybe Cross is preferred unless Neal is just that much of a stud that all teams are trying to tank his stock.

How dangerous is Willis as a runner? What makes him special?
unicar15 replied to micnificent28's topic in Carolina Panthers
The Willis hype being pushed by his agent is REAL. The dude is a project QB and is being hailed as in the same class as Vick, Cam, Josh Allen. -
Getting both of those 1sts would require us throwing in a player piece. The problem is we don’t really have great depth at any position unless we’re considering trading CMC. If you trade CMC you’d be dumb to draft one of these rookie QBs. He’s basically their only chance of succeeding. So….not sure how we get two 1sts. If you do the points we’re about 350 points off the Eagles two 1st round picks. That’s a mid-second round pick. So question is do you start dealing picks next year in order to move down and acquire picks this year?

Per Aaron Wilson: “The Panthers love Penning”
unicar15 replied to TheSpecialJuan's topic in Carolina Panthers
This FO really seems to love boom or bust options. Darnold, Henderson, trade down for a potential boom or bust LT in order to get another boom or bust QB at the bottom of the 1st or 2nd. -

Part of me thinks the Eagles are going to be the trade partner. -
Who are the guaranteed wins next year? If CMC gets hurt we’re not winning any games. If he stays healthy then we’re probably a .500 team realistically. Probably split with the Saints and Falcons. We play the NFCW and AFCN. Every team in both of those divisions is going to smoke us. We will for sure be picking in the top 10.

That’s fine. Find a way to trade for Baker or sign JG once he’s released if you need “hope.” But trading day 1-2 picks next year imo has to be off the table. Maybe someone like Corral or Howell starts free falling to the bottom of the 3rd and you make a deal for a 3rd next year and our 4th this year to move up. But beyond that I don’t want to see it…

Week Of: Draft Buzz, Rumors, & News (w/updates)
unicar15 replied to davos's topic in Carolina Panthers
Here’s the Q. If you have confidence in Christensen as a future LT do you make a trade down…try to pick up a 1st next year and a 2nd this year. Then hope you can get Linderbaum/Strange to plug in at OG along with a QB prospect? I wouldn’t hate that gameplan. But I still think getting one of the top OTs this year and then a QB next year is the way to go. But they may not see a huge difference in the OT position if they really are sold on BC as the future. -
Nope. If they’re realistic they’ll know that trotting a rookie out there (especially Willis) will end in us getting another top 5 pick that was then handed over to the Packers. Rhule made his bed with Darnold. Get the LT. Let McAdoo do his job and roll with the cards he dealt himself. There is no way wirh next years QB class that Tepper and Fitt let him trade a future 1st. Young, Stroud, Richardson, and maybe Rattler are ALL better than the top QB in this class. You do not trade that pick. Period. Sorry Matt…

Pauline doubles down: “Cross won’t fall past 6”
unicar15 replied to FuFuLamePoo's topic in Carolina Panthers
The Walter football guys compared Cross to Ronnie Stanley. I think out of the tackles the thought on Cross is he’s the most agile and while he may not be a great pass blocker that’s attributed to him needing to bulk up. Idt you’re going to go wrong with either him or Icky at 6. No matter what we should come out of this draft with a stud starting left tackle…..finally. -
Athletic mock projects NC State tackle to Panthers
unicar15 replied to Mr. Scot's topic in Carolina Panthers
If he’s not gone by 6 (its hard to believe he wouldn’t be) Fitterer needs to sprint to the podium. Screw trading down. Figure out QB later. The entire OL is set for the next 5 years. The LT spot is set for 10. -

People that don’t get excited about tackles need to pay attention to the niners with Shanahan and now the Phins with McDaniel. Who did both of those offensive gurus prioritize in free agency? Trent Williams and Teron Armstead. Icky has basically the same dimensions as Williams and has the same descriptor. He’s nasty. He’s physical. You can put him at OT and he’s quick enough to pull as a lead blocker in the run game. He’s elite. The entire niners offense is predicated on Trent Williams and Deebo. This is a copy cat league. Make our O about CMC, DJ and Icky. The end. Screw who’s at QB. Run the ball into the ground, control clock, don’t turn it over and play elite defense. Don’t overthink this pick. If Icky or Neal are there this team better sprint to the table. -
Tony Pauline doesn't see a quarterback at #6
unicar15 replied to Mr. Scot's topic in Carolina Panthers
It’d be awesome if all 3 are there and we somehow trade down to 10 with the Jets bc they’re trying to come up for a DE, CB, or WR. -

I think it’s becoming more and more likely that someone trades to the Giants spot (NO, Pittsburgh, Atlanta) and gets ahead of us for Willis and drops the exact player we need right into our laps. We take Ekwonu or Neal and start prepping for next year with the roster and figure out if there is another veteran to bring in on the cheap (draft pick-wise). I think there will be a real discussion about Willis IF he’s there at #6. But I think the Steelers, Saints, and potentially Falcons all like him enough to try and get up to #5. Which imo would be great news for us…Finish the OL and take another stab at a QB next year likely in the top 3 picks (bc we’re gonna suck). -
We’re gonna trade down and draft Nakobe Dean or Lloyd aren’t we? What do we have…two linebackers on the entire team who can play significant snaps?
-
If there is a tackle on the board. Which…increasingly it appears there will be I just don’t know how we end up with one of the QBs. Idt Tepper is letting them trade future assets.

"What are we doing in the draft" 2022 edition.
unicar15 replied to Verge's topic in Carolina Panthers
TB was different. He’s a proven vet. Everyone basically thinks Darnold is terrible. -
The problem with Jimmy G isn’t that he can’t play or that he doesn’t possess elite skills. Imo he does. He’s very mobile in the pocket. He has a good arm. He’s smart. The issue with him is that he’s the CMC of QBs….he can’t stay healthy and he just had major shoulder surgery. He averages like 8 games a season.
-
Yup. Neal and Icky are classic “Ozzie Newsome” type players. If Christensen really is good enough to start at OG then the left side of the line is solved for a decade. The entire line is probably solved for the next 5 years until Moton starts going downhill.

Or….Stand pat and have two first round picks next year in a much better QB class. -

unicar15 replied to Verge's topic in Carolina Panthers
Better be with a team that is going to suck next year. The only way I’m ok trading out of that 6th pick and not getting a 1st this year is if it’s with a team like the Texans or maybe the Falcons if they draft a QB and miss on a veteran. There is a good chance teams like the Giants, Jets, Jags all take significant steps forward this year and are drafting outside the top 10. -
This is the exact correct take. Take the LT. Give up no capital. Get Baker. Do or die for the current staff. If we don’t win then start over. If we do win then great. Sign Baker to a team friendly deal similar to what the Chiefs did with Smith and the Titans initially did with Tannehill….and draft the replacement.

I would happily trade RA and that contract straight up for BM. Let Terrance Marshall get in and thrive.
