  1. If we have CMC and Watson both in the backfield I’m not even sure the OL matters that much. What we have now would get the job done. Add a MLB and get Reddick (if they want Burns) and imo we’re one of the tile 2-3 teams in the league by the end of the year.
  2. The point is that it isn’t a reason to not make a deal. If the Texans say.....”we want CMC or you can’t have Watson.” Your response isn’t to hang up the phone. Your response is to do what it takes to get a 25yo 5000 yard passer who may be the second best QB in the league.
  3. The front offices do not care at all about future cap ramifications. The cap in 2022 is probably going to be over $215 million. That’s almost a $40 million swing (assuming COVID restrictions are going to be gone). Watson isn’t set to be a free agent until 2026. So you’ll basically have one of the most talented QBs in the league on one of the friendliest deals for a team. The dead cap you eat while acquiring him is a completely moot point. McCaffery’s restructure makes it more palatable for teams to acquire him in the short term while you’re cap strapped and then when the cap increases from TV money it doesn’t matter. That restructure was purely done for this year’s deals. Nothing else.
  4. Yep. I honestly wouldn’t be surprised if Fitterer has the mentality of: ”Let’s keep Chinn and DJ...and that’s it. Every other player and pick is available.” Give Watson one weapon and keep your most valuable player on defense. The rest can be built later with free agency and day 2 draft picks. I’m not sure any other team is going to make a move that bold...and that’s what Tepper/Fitterer are counting on. My prediction is the trade will be: 1st round (2021, 2022) 2nd round (2021, 2023) Bridgewater, McCaffery and Burns. If you find a way to bring in Hassan Reddick then imo including Burns is a moot aspect of the deal. Trading CMC sucks but is necessary. I don’t think his restructure takes him off the trade block. That gets HOU basically everything they want. Multiple 1sts, talented young defender, MVP candidate to keep the fans engaged. Go draft another QB with that roster and picks and you’ll be back in the convo for AFCS title sooner then later as long as you don’t miss.
  5. There’s a big difference in what Watson would be happy with and what the NFL wants + what Watson would be happy with. First it was NYJ then MIA then CHI then back to NYJ and DEN took the place of CHI then the Niners and now even the Pats are “a suitor.” The three teams who have been linked to in the longest are NYJ, MIA, CAR. I don’t know what to believe but what I DO KNOW is that if it leaked he doesn’t want to play for two big market teams like MIA and NYJ it looks really bad for the media markets for him to be linked primarily to CAR. Media outlets HAVE to have intrigue in NY, CHI, CA right now for viewers and clickbait. Charlotte NC isn’t gonna drive the clickbait right now. NY, MIA, SF will....that’s my take. Maybe he likes SF. Saying he wants EITHER SF or DEN..not buying it.
  6. Players are often much more valuable in the eyes of the team they are leaving. You have to remember that he’s had injuries and so his body of work isn’t maybe as impressive as potential. So are teams Really willing to overpay on potential when he’s had an injury history?
  7. There are a ton of good WR that are cut/going to be cut. We need to bring one of them in and not count on a rookie. Moore, Anderson, Golden Tate and Hunter Henry sounds like a really good core group to pair with Deshaun.
  8. I didn’t feel like this needed clarification but apparently it does. Tennessee has a really good roster. They have the best RB in the NFL, a top 10 receiver, a franchise LT just on offense. Byard and Jackson are two of the best in the league at their positions. A Tannehill/Trubisky QB is taking that team to the playoffs and that’s it in a good year. Hardly ever advancing and certainly never a serious SB contender. Deshaun Watson is taking that team at least to the AFCCG and probably with DH..to the Super Bowl. So can we not turn this into “there is more to a team than the QB” nonsense?
  9. If you’re being serious the that is by far the most tone deaf comment I’ve seen on here for a while. Watson probably would have taken Derrick Henry and that cast at least to the AFCG.
  10. I get that the numbers for Tannehill look good. They aren’t gonna look good when they have to get rid of the support system due to costs. I don’t want a Qb that needs a perfect roster to win. I want a QB that can win with any roster.
  11. Tannehill is Tannehill bc of Henry....
  12. If you want Ryan Tannehill production then sign Mitch Turbisky. That’s his ceiling imo. A while back I did a stat comparison between MT and Zach Wilson from college perspective. MT played in about as QB-friendly a system as any QB that year (or any year for that matter). His completion percentage was still significantly lower than Wilson. His downfield accuracy was significantly lower. His downfield attempts (if I’m remembering correctly) were lower. Trubisky got over drafted and misevaluated by the Bears. He’d be the 4th or 5th rated QB in this class imo if he was coming out this year behind Lawrence, Wilson, Fields..then pundits would start splitting hairs between his “potential” and the potential of someone like Mac Jones or Trey Lance. But no....he’d be far far behind imo those top three guys.
  13. Yup. Tepper is smart enough to realize that Hurney had made big mistakes and basically went the opposite way hiring Fitterer. I’m not sure Marty has ever even heard of analytics...
  14. FWIW there is a former football player/radio host claiming the 49ers have offered Fitterer their 3rd, 4th, 5th round picks for TB. If that trade gets him off our books AND nets us three picks I would absolutely do it....make sure you get your guy in the draft and sign a veteran free agent to a more team friendly deal.
  15. Yeah I definitely think Shaq could be one of those surprise cuts.
  16. Based off what Russini has been saying, Turner will probably get cut. Basically any veteran that was good but not great and has already met their guarantees is going to be on the chopping block bc of the cap.
  17. This is exactly why the entire fanbase was outraged with that WFT win. Shouldn’t be in this position. But my opinion on the matter is you trade down and stockpile assets. Fields, Jones, or Lance would be there later and I’d be fine with any of them outside the top 15. Or you got assets to make a trade for a top tier veteran mid-draft.
  18. Simms is smart. He may know that the Jags are a dumpster fire franchise that just hired a former college coach. They may pull a Colts and completely screw up TL. Meanwhile a franchise like CAR, SF could end up with Wilson in a trade up and the franchise makes him a perfect fit. Mond is an NFL prototype QB. He has a pretty strong arm. He’s super mobile in the pocket and on the run. He has good numbers against elite competition. I don’t understand the Fields position but Idt it’s crazy that Mond is in the top 5.
  19. If they trade for Wilson and Carroll gets Brees then I would laugh so hard when Pete got that super bowl.
  20. Best option: Sell the farm for Watson 2nd best option: Trade a 3rd for Darnold 3rd option: Trade for 2nd overall 4th option: Stand pat and take Lance All are good options imo. This is the rare instance where “doing nothing” is the obvious worst decision.
  21. How do you know they see him as a downgrade in their system? Even so...he’s an identical cap hit to JG this year and there is an out in 2022. It’s basically letting them wipe the slate clean after 2021 instead of paying JG thru 2022. If they want a 3rd round pick to make it feel even and it gets us DW then throw it in...who cares.
  22. Three team deal: Panthers get: Deshaun Watson Texans get: #8, # 39, 2022 1st, 2022 2nd, 2023 1st Jimmy G Niners get: Teddy Bridgewater So...the Niners get TB for literally nothing. A guy they apparently have interest in acquiring. They get rid of Jimmy G (and his contract) in the process. The Texans get a massive draft haul (three 1st round picks, multiple 2nd round picks) AND a QB who is definitely good enough to get them through until they find a replacement. Maybe they draft the future at #8 and put him on the bench behind JG for a year. Panthers get Watson AND get to keep some of their established players to make a run immediately. win/win/win.
  23. Jones and Lance imo are both significantly flawed and for that reason neither will go top 10. These rumors imo are being floated to increase trade value for those picks.
  24. This would be a good trade for the Panthers assuming they see Wilson as the guy.
  25. Would rather have a rookie. Dak doesn’t have what it takes to carry a $40 million cap number. The boys know it...
