Darnold? He threw three balls into the DL hands and threw three INTS. Brady isn’t the problem. The offense at least looked decent last year with TB and idt Teddy is good. I just think unfortunately SD is worse. There are two other phases of the team that have been very good.

We Picked Up Sam Darnold's 5th Year Option LMFAO
unicar15 replied to Castavar's topic in Carolina Panthers
Who. Cares? You guys are way too focused on “cap space” with the Darnold contract. Focus on how much talent the team has for the amount of cap space available. Even with Darnold on the roster and a terrible deal we are in the top half of the league in cap space for 2022 and top 10 in 2023. I’m not saying it doesn’t matter. But you know who’s at the bottom of the league and deals their draft picks and hands out deals like the league will end tomorrow? The Rams. The Cowboys. The Packers. The Bills. Want to know what they move assets for? To win now. Find a QB at all costs. Trade picks. Sign over the cap. Who cares. Win now. That’s what this league is… -
Agree. And I would seriously start thinking about what this team looks like without Burns and Jackson. Bc if you want to land a legit starting QB those guys are probably part of a deal. Jackson can be replaced with Gilmore and hopefully Henderson. Burns imo is good but not worth a max deal he’s going to want. Trade him in the off-season.
-
On. Cue. Play your best players.
-
Is Gilmore even playing? Would be nice to shut down some of these easy throws with one guy and let our front 7 focus on the run.
-
None of the QBs in this class have ideal size. I want Josh Allen. 6’5” 240 with a cannon for an arm and a little movement. That doesn’t exist in this draft so hopefully we trade the picks and try to land a vet.

Rhule isn’t the GM? Hurney signed Bridgewater to that deal. Probably in part because cam was not going to take a Hometown discount and resigning a persistently injured quarterback to any type of significant contract would have been one of the dumbest moves in NFL history. Cam was done. Bridgewater and Darnold were fliers at the most important position in sports…and it basically cost us a 2nd and a 4th try and figure out if it’d work. Not too bad.

What? He missed the 2nd half of the Dallas game and they scored 23 points in the half he was out. We lost by 8. He was out against the Vikings, Eagles, Giants and we have the worst three defensive games of the year against mediocre offenses. He comes back against Dallas and has 10 tackles and a pick. We stall their offense (which has been pretty good) and win the game. How in the world could you say he isn’t our best defensive player? Not having him literally changed outcomes of games.

What decision at QB would have been better? Fields? He’s thrown 7 picks and has a 65 QBR. The Bears are worse off than we are. Rhule would be getting killed for not “being able to coach him up.” Mac Jones? He’s being coached by maybe the best coaching staff in league history and he’s probably no better than Darnold physically. Again…Rhule would be getting killed. The QB trades didn’t pan out bc there aren’t deals to be made. If you want to kill Rhule over something maybe you say he should have taken Slater over Horn. But if Horn stays healthy and is OTW to the pro bowl as a rookie…is that really a mistake? Idt any of these things are mistakes or bad coaching. He made the right decisions. He’s just had bad luck. It’s pretty glaring what needs to be fixed in the off-season. I think if next year we haven’t addressed QB and LT then you can start heating up his seat. But honestly our trajectory is up. Hopefully there is a QB shuffle and we’re able to snag a good one with our 2022 first round pick. Sign a LT. We may lose guys like Burns and Jackson…but we’ll have others to fill the voids like Gilmore, Horn, Reddick etc. They’ve done a good job positioning themselves to not have to make bad deals. Hurney NEVER was able to do that. Ever. So I actually think we’re sitting in a pretty good spot. Lots of potential assets. Few actual needs.

I feel like all this “Rhule sucks as a coach” stuff is going to feel really foolish after he gets CMC back. If CMC and Shaq stay healthy the rest of the year I’m predicting the Panthers are 8-9 with wins over: Pats, WFT, Dolphins, Falcons. I think there is a chance we could sneak a Bucs win as well if they’re resting starters at the end of the year. Again….this is only if we have a healthy team. So is a 3-win improvement with NO real QB threat and your best players injured a significant portion of the season really a bad coaching job? I honestly think that if CMC and Shaq stayed healthy we’d be sitting at the top of the NFCS right now. Coaches can’t control injuries and Idt you can expect huge gains in the NFL without your best players…

Why would Brady go to the Bucs if this was a reason not to sign? Winston was the 3rd most sacked QB in the league. The line was terrible. Enter Brady…all of a sudden the line is one of the best in the league. Great QBs elevate everyone. Plenty of free agents and trade targets to patch those holes. Carolina is an attractive destination for 3 reasons. #1 - QBs like playing in good weather. CAR has that for most of the season. #2 - QBs always want a top D to fall back on if the offense isn’t humming. CAR defense should be a top 5 unit for years. #3 - All players want to play for an aggressive GM and a wealthy owner. It means they’ll get paid and the supporting cast will get paid as well.

I fully expect us to trade at least our 2022 1st round pick for a QB this off-season. Whether it’s Rodgers, Watson, Wilson, Tua, or maybe a guy like Derek Carr. I don’t think Tepper has any desire to stick with rookie QBs or the guys we have on the roster. The scenarios I see playing out would be: Rodgers - If Love balls out then they’re going to stick with him. Rodgers will be moved or released. I could easily see this happen. They’ve wanted Love for a while now. I don’t think they’d release Rodgers with him playing so well early and a SB possibility. But they aren’t going to rush to give him his job back if Love plays well. If players rally behind Love could there be a mid season release to curb distraction? Would be nuts. Watson - Charges are dropped or settled. He’s moved and the Panthers trade a boatload for him. Wilson - He’s an outlier and Idt there is any way SEA trades him. But he could force his way out. Likely not to us…but could be a MIA target which opens up possibly the trade for Tua. Tua - Aside from his injury history I really like Tua. I would trade a mid 1st round pick for him. He’d be a way better option than any QBs coming out. Carr - Hes having a career year on a dumpster fire team. I think the only way he gets moved is if someone overpays for him OR he forces his way out. With how close we are (I believe a QB away from contending) I would trade multiple 1st round picks for him. It’d be interesting to see if the Raiders new HC would take that in an effort to start fresh. May be good for both sides.

Why couldn’t the Rodgers have happened BEFORE the deadline. Love is going to ball out. Packers brass would have had all they needed to move Rodgers…..Enter Fitterer.
-
It’ll be PJ bc they’re going to want to him to rub. I honestly can’t think of a worse game for CMC to be activated back. They’re going to run it 50x against the Pats. I hope our RBs are ready. I bet the carries breakdown will be: CMC - 18 Hubbard - 15 Freeman - 8 Walker - 7 WRs - 3 Run it into the ground…
-
If they have any creativity at all they’ll line him up to receive out of the backfield and in the slot and keep Hubbard as the primary tailback getting 20 carries a game. CMC has the best hands on the team. Maybe top 5 in the league. Throw him some short routes where he doesn’t get hit and be productive WHILE saving his body. The goal is to win…not make CMC OPOY.

Talk to me about the Patriots, what do you know?
unicar15 replied to Zod's topic in Carolina Panthers
I don’t see any QB on this roster beating Belichick unless our defense forces 3-4 turnovers and we get short fields. That’s basically the only way we’re beating any competent staff this year until CMC comes back. -
Darnold Concussed, Patriots Game Next Week, Sign Cam,
unicar15 replied to Kryptick's topic in Carolina Panthers
Trade for Jimmy G. Not a joke. They get out of the contract and get to put Lance in the full time role without JG lurking. We trade them Darnold and take the JG contract for a year. This defense is ready. We need a middle of the road QB who makes the right reads most of the time. His contract is up after 2022 and I’m sure there’s a way to get out of it or move money if necessary. Make the deal and go to the playoffs this year…the cap hit is worth the risk. Not seeing a whole lot of better options at QB unless we just want to throw in the towel on 2021-2022. -
TB wasn’t significantly better than SD and he was costing about 3x what Darnold was… So ask yourself if keeping TB was worth being in cap hell or not having Reddick, Gilmore, Morgan Fox, Daquan Jones. The D would be average at best and the offense still wouldn’t be good. So no…keeping Teddy was never gonna work.
-
It’s been working for the Titans the last two years. I still don’t think Tannehill is significantly better than Darnold and he’s was probably going back to the playoffs before the Henry injury.
-
He’s a player who has always been driven by emotion and adrenaline. Can you imagine how high he’d be running back on that field?? His energy alone would be good for like 2-3 wins. I still don’t trust his accuracy but heck if we’re gonna hand the ball off 30x a game and play defense…he can make enough plays for that.

Matt Ryan has a 12/4/9 split for TDs, Ints, Sacks. Sam Darnold has a 7/9/10 split for TDs, Ints, Sacks. The game will be won on turnovers. So..unless our D turns them over 3-4 times and we get short fields and points. I’m going 21-14 Falcons in a really ugly game.
