Rhule going to OU just makes too much sense…
-
There is zero chance he sells the franchise. There is a legit chance he tells Fitterer to can Rhule and bring in the right coach. Tepper basically burned the entire first year trying to learn the league with RR and Hurney. Then he let Hurney hire Rhule. His mistake is that he didn’t clean house from the beginning. BUT…..he probably was just trying to gain familiarity with ownership. If you have your GM that you trust (presumably he does in Fitt) then you let him pick his coaching staff.

Would love Daboll. If you’re drafting a QB…which we will. You have to have a QB guru running things.
-
I like Fitt and trust him to build. Let him figure out the coach and QB. I doubt it’ll be this year unless Fitt wants to go one way and Rhule another…
-
Also a reminder that Rhule didn’t want him as the pick…Hurney did. Rhule wanted Henderson or to make a move for Herbert.

Emezie has the receptions record at State. I think he’s probably more technical than Jacoby Myers and Myers has done pretty well with the Pats.

Sounds like Donte freelances a little bit. I remember watching the Amazon special when they were following our team. Donte was Coming off his rookie season may be? He had some great on ball place his rookie year but then got called out for his technique his second year. I remember the secondary coach there and veteran players on defense lighting him up for that. Seems like he still hasn’t learned. He’s gone after this year. No way we resign him. I’m guessing Snow and Rhule see his talent and that’s why he gets snaps. But as a long term leader and max corner…not putting their eggs in that basket. Hence why Henderson and Gilmore are in the fold.

It’s crazy what competent play from the QB does for the OL. Get the ball out quick. Get the right protections. Everyone looks better.

Yup. Cam needs to just play. He fueled the fire for a team playing for a coach that wanted revenge

Cam has basically been told he isn’t part of the long term plan unless something extraordinary happens. There isn’t room for antics.
-
He’s for sure getting 3 years. They’re going to let this thing play out with Cam and Brady. If it works out and the O starts clicking they’ll keep building. If it doesn’t work they’re going to fire Brady and let Sean Ryan call plays. The problem with Rhule is that I don’t see him having the reach to bring in an experienced, veteran OC to right the ship. So he better hope one of the two guys on the staff can start calling plays. But Ryan is 50 and has never been an OC.
-
No we didn’t. We traded a guy who was in the prime of his career for a guy at the end just bc the guy at the end was at a more important position…then he ended up mostly sucking.

The defense will bounce back. Could be as simple as it was just a bad matchup. The mediocre offensive production for the 20th straight week despite our QB completing 80% of his passes, running for 50 yards, no TOs and scoring two TDs….that’s still the problem. Some of the plays that Heinke made wouldn’t have been made 8/10 times. So some of it was just luck. That’ll get corrected and won’t be the case. Problem is our offense can’t ever bail us out of a bad situation and put up points.
-
I’m Cam’s first game back he hit 6 receivers on 78% passing. Scored two TDs. Ran for 50 yards…on a defense that is very good even without Young. The situational playcalling sucked. Period. If you want to win games then play to win. But calling a bunch of 5 yard out routes and checking down doesn’t work if your 3rd down efficiency is THAT bad and it wasn’t bc of incompletions. It was bc the routes that were completed weren’t enough to get the 1st down. So….that’s BAD play calling.

I don’t buy at all that the guys on our squad “couldn’t cover.” A couple of the throws Heinike made were ridiculous. One in the end zone to Sims? That went between three guys. So in part I think it was luck. In part it was scheme. Even the throw that McLaurin missed toward the end of the game…everyone was out of position. It was just very poorly adjusted imo.
-
Even if our offense is mediocre on a good day…how does he not prep the D to be able to blank WFT
-
Brady is gonna be gone. Sean Ryan is up to see if the season can turn with Cam.
-
This is a good plan. Most of the time you can’t do this bc of QB ego. Neither of these QBs are in any position to demand snaps at this point. Maybe by year end…but if you can do it and get away with it then do it.
-
Donte has been very good. Shaq has gone from middle tier ILB (on a good day) to best ILB in the league between last year and this year.

Not sure if this has been mentioned. But I think this is what will happen to a degree with Darnold if the staff doesn’t want to bring him back: ”The Texans are trading quarterback Brock Osweilerto the Browns, a move that will take Osweiler's $16 million guaranteed salary off of Houston's books. Cleveland also will receive the Texans' 2018 second-round pick and a 2017 sixth-round pick (No. 188 overall). Houston will get a 2017 fourth-round pick (No. 142), and save $10 million in salary-cap space and $16 million in cash this season.”

You can’t run play action behind this line.

Strong is the only one who interests me. I like Howell bc he seems like a great competitor. But I feel like he’s reached his ceiling and needs tons of weapons around him to be good. Willis is too slight. I don’t want a mobile QB who’s going to get knocked around. The reason he’s enticing is bc he’s mobile. But at 6’1” 200 he’s going to get hurt. His stats against legit competition (NCSU, Cuse, VT) are mediocre at best.
-
His shoulder isn’t gonna get better with reps. It would just get worse. But he’s only got to play half the season. The Broncos were able to do it with Peyton and an elite defense. Let’s see if we can with Cam.
