Things change quickly. You don’t make a decision like this for “who’s good in 2022.” You make it as “where is the best place to play long term.” Cleveland imo has never had that even when they have talent. They always just seem to bottom feed.
-
Agreed. I think that they want Chinn or Horn or both….
-
There’s no way he’s going to the Browns. He could play in Charlotte or NO but chooses Cleveland? Nah. His agent is forcing that meeting because he owes the GM or something…

Brian. Flores. Come on down…

The Panthers have a lot of leaks coming from our staff

This is what happens when you’re trying to create buzz around something that doesn’t create its own buzz. But in this case it may be worthwhile bc it shows DW that CAR has been committed from the beginning while others have come and go. -
Who cares? Nobody wants to watch a 6-7 win team which is what we are indefinitely without a QB. So who cares if we have assets? We squandered years with Cam, Luke, Olsen by not making more impactful moves. Were gonna end up signing Burns, Chinn, Brown and DJ long term and have Shaq, CMC, Moton under contract and nothinf to show for it.

Make the trade: Worst case scenario is we keep sucking for two more years. Best case scenario is he scores enough and limits turnovers enough to let our top 5 D get us deep in the playoffs THIS year and we are attracting free agents for the next 6-7 years while we recoup our picks. Don’t make the trade: 100% chance we keep sucking this year. More than likely we also continue to be bad-mediocre for years after while trying to develop a rookie QB. Best case scenario is we draft Young or Stroud and it’s a coin flip as to whether they’re even starting NFL QBs long term. I’ll take the risk in this particular player and if we end up being mediocre then oh well we made a deal for a proven commodity.

I honestly don’t get this take. Everyone realizes that no matter how good the a ancillary talent is on this team….we aren’t going anywhere without a QB. We literally had 6-7 pro bowl pedigree players this year. We were a dumpster fire. In large part due to a Qb situation that routinely failed to score and turned the ball over. A team and QB that can score brings out the best in the surrounding talent. Don’t trade Burns or Horn. Otherwise I would absolutely trade any combo of players on this team and numerous 1st round picks. Using Wilsons deal as a framework: 2022, 2023 1st round picks 2024 2nd and 3rd round picks Jeremy Chinn Derrick Brown That is 4 first round talents and contracts along with 2nd and 3rd rounders and I wouldn’t blink.

I was thinking two 1sts, 2nd, Brown and Robby.

There are 32 owners in the NFL. There is one owner that has been unwavering for Watson from the very beginning. He also happens to be the richest man in the league. We all know who that is…. Been saying it from beginning. Get the QB and a lot of mistakes get covered up. Including Rhule as a potential mistake. Tepper lands Watson. The end.

The Texans (and the Panthers actually) are assuming those picks other than #6 overall would be bottom of the round 1st round picks. So the trade (if DW was as good as should be) would be: 2022 #6 2023 #28-31 2023 #90ish 2024 #28-31 Derrick Brown. I would do that deal IF they would take CMC and give us 2022 2nd round pick so we could clear cap space and sign some OL.

People comparing Willis to RW and DW are nuts. Watson was a dominant college Qb for three years at the highest level of CFB. Wilson was elite at two different schools and took his team to a rose bowl. It’s apples and oranges. Willis is a COMPLETE unknown. Anyone that tells you different is lying and it’s all going to be about his development and how much more a great staff can get out of him. Corral has a ton of physical upside imo. He’s a beanpole right now. I know the NFL weight program isn’t AS BIG a deal with QB. But go back and look at college highlights of Aaron Rodgers and Ben Roethlisberger. I think the biggest knock on Corral right now is he’s slight. But he has major growth potential physically and with his mentality….could be stellar.

Tepper hired a private investigator to look into Deshaun Watson

RW - IMO a safer, more accomplished Qb just got traded for an extremely reasonable price. Basically a bunch of B list players and two first round picks (one of which isn’t named yet and if the Broncos are good will be at the bottom). Ideally Fitt can swing a trade down and turn #6 into multiple 1st round picks. But even if he can’t my offer would be 2022 1st 2023 1st CMC Derrick Brown for Watson and 2022 2nd Watson imo would be equal to 2 first round picks and Derrick Brown. CMC is equal to 2nd rounder just bc we’re getting Watson in the deal. -
Based on what? 2 games? He plays on a team that has an offense tailor-made for one of the most talented players to ever play. So he goes out and tries to execute that offense and struggles as a first-second time starter and so he sucks??? Gimme a break. There was a reason people liked Love coming out and I will bet that if he goes to a good staff intent on making him a starter he has just as good a chance at being legit as any of the guys coming out this year.
-
The issue with DJ is this…if you trade him and draft a QB then how will you tell if the QB is any good? Anderson, Thomas, and Marshall? You need a real threat. But…If you keep him and the QB looks legit then you’re tied to him for a big deal. Bc you aren’t trading a top target with a young QB.
-
So what’s a better trade offer? Beasley and and #25 overall, #88ish overall for CMC? Bc keeping him imo is worst case scenario.
-
So you’d rather have one 1st round pick and a running back who plays 5 games a season? Id rather have #30 overall, #92 overall and a QB who has proven about as much as any QB in this draft or more.. You could basically turn CMC (and his salary) into offloading Darnold, a Qb with more potential, and two 1st round pick. If they decided to trade down again and target Raimann as the OT. You could conceivably have 3 first round picks and get: Linderbaum, Dean, Raimann, Love, and a 3rd rounder…..out of CMC. Sign. Me. Up.
-
Honest question. Is there a way to swap Love for Darnold? You know there’s gotta be some discontent in that locker room over Loves chance with them basically being over. If I’m Fitt I’m offering CMC and Darnold for Love and their 2022 1st and 3rd. The Packers are all in on winning now. LeFleur and Rodgers will for sure find a way to use CMC and he’d be a matchup nightmare with Adams and Jones. Darnold provides them relatively reasonable backup depth without any expectations behind Arod. Who’s stopping that offense?
-
I don’t think these are guys they WANT to trade. But it makes zero sense to sign DJ to a true #1 contract with nobody to throw it to him. It makes zero sense to keep paying CMC a massive deal if he can’t play bc of injury. If I had a choice I would say move CMC to a team who will take his whole contract. But you have to get picks for him. You can finagle the cap if we’re on the hook for part of it but you absolutely have to get 1s or 2s for CMC in a deal. The good news is that it sounds like Tepper is finally ready to admit this is a total rebuild. The bad news is that he realized it 3 years too late…
-
This is what needs to happen. We get a starting center (best in draft), a consensus 1st round OT, and a potential QB of the future. Two picks that will pay dividends for a decade if they produce at their slotted potential…not sure what more you could ask for in the first two rounds.
