Evero's defense is getting eaten up by a vanilla offense

What? That I want to see Bryce Young and Matt Corral perform better than Desmond Ridder in a preseason game? You're perfectly okay with less?
-
My expectation is that Bryce and Reich outperform Cam Newton, Jake Delhomme, Rodney Peete, Steve Beuerlein, Sam Darnold, Teddy Bridgewater, and Baker Mayfield in their 1st preseason with a new offensive system. This should be very reasonable with the investment made in QB and offensive coach. We are sitting in Chris Weinke and Jimmy Clausen territory right now. So, it looks bad. Hoping he doesn't fold up and go into the Jeff Lewis preseason interception abyss. I was hoping to see a rookie Drew Brees or 1st year Saints Drew Brees, but that faded quickly. He is far from being as prepared as Brees was as a rookie, and Reich is not Sean Payton.

Anybody else think we are putting to much on Bryce's plate?

So, Bryce Young should be held to a lesser standard than Jeff Lewis, Jimmy Clausen, and Jake Delhomme? It's on his plate now. Sink or swim. Sink as a QB and you can find your way to the door like Lewis and Clausen. Eat up Bryce. Young should be held to a higher standard than Cam Newton. -
Remind me how many points Rivera and Newton scored in 2011? Then compare it to the league. So, what expectations do we have for Reich and Young? Is it acceptable for them to be among the worst first year coach/QB combo the Panthers have had? Should we expect Young to perform better than Delhomme in his first year with the Panthers? First year Delhomme should be held to a higher standard?

The apologists are ramping up the 3 year wait and see train. For the amount invested in offensive coaching and QB, there should be no room for 0 points in a single game. Points must occur in season 1. Defenses must not dominate the Panthers. The Panthers must convert at the top of the league for 1st downs, redzone attempts, and drives beyond the 50 yard line. If not, the Panthers would have been better off with a defensive coach and an average offense. Week to week improvement is a must in year 1. Bottom of the league in offense in year 1 is unacceptable. The Panthers were at the top of the NFL in offensive drives/points scored: Capers top 10 offense yr 2 with Kerry Collins. Seifert top 10 offense yr 1 with Steve Beuerlein. Fox top 15 offense yr 2 with Jake Delhomme. Rivera top 10 offense yr 1 with Cam Newton. Wilks top 20 offense yr 1 with Sam Darnold. Are we going to lessen these expectations for an offensive coaching staff and the most costly #1 pick rookie QB in NFL history? Is it acceptable for Reich and Young to produce like Rhule & Bridgewater or worse? Only 2 defensive coaches had to take it to year 2 with inexperienced QBs under center. Apparently, neither Collins or Delhomme were at the same cerebral level as Young. Don't downgrade your expectations. They should be higher than any previous Panthers coach/QB combo. Delhomme would have been tossed quickly in 2 weeks if he performed like Young or Corral in a preseason game. Anyone want to argue against this? How long does Delhomme get to fail at QB in 2003 before the Panthers move on?

Reich is calling the plays. Maybe giving Brown some control in the preseason. It was awful. I hope that was not Reich calling plays.
-
I thought it would be bad, but not 0 points bad. I over estimated Reich as a play caller.

Zack Kuntz, Israel Abanikanda, Amare Barno At least I got to see my young targets performing well at an NFL level.

Josh Vann is open streaking down the field. No idea what the plan is here.

Just go to Josh Vann

They all seem to be on the same level. Not sure it matters who you cut based on this game.

Well, keep hearing these posts about how 0 points in a preseason game doesn't mean anything. They tell me this a common occurrence in preseason games. Not sure if I should believe that.
-
At least that was the best offensive drive of the game
-
Who's looking forward to looking at the drive charts for the Panthers at the end of this game?
-
Reich is not at all happy with his players
-
Reich could suit up and perform better

McCall is a good back up 4-3 DT. He is not going to hold up as a 3-4 NT

There is a ton of bad QB play in this game for both sides

How many seasons before someone realizes Jordan can't play in the NFL?

They ran the ball and did max protection with a ton of help in pass pro for Ekwonu in 2022.

I've seen some horrible first preseason games, but the preparation and execution in this one has got to be among the worst.

That first team DL can't slow down the run and keep the OL off of LBs
