Official Panthers - Seahawks Gameday Thread
CPantherKing replied to Jeremy Igo's topic in Carolina Panthers
Let Cam be Cam. Stop trying to bottle him up Shula. Live and die by Cam and Olsen on offense. As soon as they let Cam change plays with an audible they produce on offense. Devin Funchess still cannot catch balls that hit his hands... again and again and again. -

And that is why Kurt Coleman is a liability at FS. Remember Haruki Nakamura? Tre Boston should be starting. He has better range and is more of a ball hawk. -

Anyone else notice the coaches are not letting Cam audible out of the horrible play calls. It has been working all season and now the coaches want to control Cam? Looks like Cam is frustrated with the play calling. -

Shula too cute on 3rd and 1, and 4th and 1 at a defining moment of the game. You have one of the best short yardage running teams in in the NFL. 2 QB sneaks for a first down. Challenge your team to tell them what you are doing and then get it done in their face. Horrible play calling on the first 2 drives and to end the half. Go for the winning shot when you have the opportunity and stop going to the weakness of your offense trying to fool the Seattle D. Just dumb, but typical Shula. I feel like the offense is going to be Olsen or bust. Also, Devin Funchess still cannot catch passes that hit him in the hands. -

That ball was stripped before his butt hit the ground. Refs save Seattle again. -
Can we trade for one more DE? Please!
-
Here is to hoping for some 53 defensive sets you can easily change to a 46 with: CJ - KK - Star - Ealy - Allen Shaq - Luke - TD Norman - Harper - Tillman All the LBs can cover so you could do a lot with this on field combo. This would be great in the red zone and goal line.
-
This is a statement on Ealy not showing up more than anything else. If CJ or Alexander were healthy, this trade is never done. This is directly related to Ealy not getting the job done. So, whatever the Panthers give up for Allen will be attributed to the cost of attaining Ealy. Allen and Addison as the DEs. Ealy is going back on the shelf.

Better yet, post vines showing that he is catching 20 balls in a row with defensive dummies hands in his face while running around the inside edges of the end zone. That I would approve of, and I won't believe it until I see it.

Official 2015 Panthers Season Prediction
CPantherKing replied to Jeremy Igo's topic in Carolina Panthers
You have the Panthers D giving up just over 200 points on the season and the Panthers offense scoring over 400 points on the season. A +200 point difference. Essentially, you are saying the Panthers will be the best team in the NFL and the favorite for the Super Bowl come the end of the season. This would make them one of the best teams in NFL history. I would love to see that, but I highly doubt it. I will be happy if the Panthers break the 300 point mark in points scored, and then I hope the defense can finish anywhere between 250 to 300 points allowed. If the defense allows 350 points again this season, then the Panthers are at best a .500 team. The Panthers have topped the 100+ point difference 3 times in their history. They have never surpassed 150 point difference. I will be happy if the Panthers D can limit the Saints, Packers, Colts, Eagles, and Cowboys offenses below 30 points. Even more so if the Panthers offense can not sustain a passing game to keep their defense off the field. Your Jaguars, Seahawks, Eagles, Colts, Packers, and Cowboys scores appear highly improbable. Hope it happens though. That would be one great season.- 65 replies

Official 2015 Panthers Season Prediction
CPantherKing replied to Jeremy Igo's topic in Carolina Panthers
@ Jags - L : Panthers cannot put up more than 17 points. Rivera continues his poor opening game record with conservative coaching that leads the Jags to a TD in the 4th quarter to win the game. Texans - L: Offense goes no where with the Texans sitting on the running game. Need receiving threats. Saints - W: Pressure Brees into turnovers. Panthers running game knifes through the Saints even with an 8 man front. @ Bucs - W: Low scoring game. Jameis is punished all day. Panthers get some help in the air with Funchess. @ Seahawks - L: Rivera remains win less against Seattle and win less after the Bye. Continues to get outcoached. Eagles - L: Panthers can not keep up with the scoring of the Eagles as the receivers continue to miss opportunities. Colts - L: Panthers again lose due to the inability to put up more than 20 points a game. Packers - L: Same story. Packers 37 - Panthers 19. Defense is on the field for 40 minutes. Rivera remains win less against the Packers. @ Titans - W: Panthers pull out a last minute drive to win 24-18. Redskins - W: Panthers can pass the ball against this team. Run away victory. @ Cowboys - L: Rivera gets out coached. No passing game. Panthers fail to keep pace on the score board. Greg Hardy has a field day with the Panthers always playing from behind and having trouble with receivers coming up with critical plays. @ Saints - L: Saints unload. Panthers unable to keep pace with the passing game. Rivera out coached. *** Panthers are at 4-8 on the season. Brown, Cotchery, Dickson and Harper are released. Panthers bring up Bersin and re-sign Lucas for 2 TE sets with the passing game. Sign a S and WR from another PS. Funchess and Norwood start. Ginn, Bersin, and newly signed WR rotate at 3/4. Rivera and Shula open playbook and let Cam audible and take shots down field. The Riverboat makes his predictable appearance. Falcons - W: Passing game catches fire. Panthers blowout Falcons. @ Giants - W: High scoring shoot out. Must win. @ Falcons - W: Stomp Falcons again scoring over 30 points. Bucs - W: Finish the season off strong with a dominant game on defense and offense. Panthers finish the season 8-8. Saints @ Falcons determine the NFC South champion. If Saints win, they finish 9-7 and win the NFC South. If Saints lose, then the Panthers, Falcons, and Saints all finish 8-8. Panthers win the NFC South with a 5-1 division record; Saints 4-2; Falcons 3-3. Gettleman gets praised by fans again for putting together a team that went 4-8 to start the season and finished another season with a losing record, but the threepeat division championship is heralded regardless of the Panthers getting trounced by the Packers or Seahawks in the playoffs. Panthers fans hope for more of the same in the 2016 season and declare it an NFC South dynasty.- 65 replies

Not a good sign. He is trying to come up with magic feathers to make himself catch the ball. Get him a big data sports psychologist asap, or cut him. Get back on the jugs machine and get off of twitter!
-
And then you realize Wilson ran from the spread formation during a pass play how many times? The Seahawks had 3 RBs carry the ball on the season for a total of 389 carries out of 1021 total plays. What percentage would that be? In the playoffs their RBs ran for 42% of the plays. They beat the Panthers with the passing game, they beat the Packers with the passing game, and they almost beat the Patriots with the passing game. It sure was not the running game that sealed those victories. The Seahawks called more passing plays and ran more spread formation than any other formation. A majority of Lynch's runs come out of 3+ receiver sets. That is their offensive formula. The Seahawks do not rely on a power running game with play action.
-
A hard nosed running attack with play action passing will not be competitive in the NFL today. A team needs a passing attack that can put up 14 points quickly through the air early or late in a game to be competitive with the best teams in the NFL. The rules greatly favor an offense that passes more than 55% of the time with a spread formation and horizontal passing attack. Personally, I do not like it, but those are the facts. There is a reason the traditional TE is no longer utilized on the successful teams, and the fullback position is dead.

Bottom Panthers PFF Performers - Preseason Week 1
CPantherKing replied to Jeremy Igo's topic in Carolina Panthers
Same discussion fans had about Everette Brown, Sione Fua, and Terrell McClain for a couple seasons. All 3 are still in the NFL filling reserve rolls for other teams who keep passing them around. All>Kony Ealy So, 1 to 2 more seasons of trying to make him work until he is rejected by the fan base. -
That Other Panther Receiver....Jarrett Boykin

That Other Panther Receiver....Jarrett Boykin
CPantherKing replied to SetfreexX's topic in Carolina Panthers
WR will be interesting. KB and Funch After that it is a toss up, but I am personally leaning toward Stephen Hill or Marcus Lucas. Proehl worked hard developing those 2 last season from the practice squad. Everyone will have a favorite in this race. The wild card that does not get talked about a lot is Wegher who can play multiple positions. He can play SS, KR/PR, WR, and RB at the NFL level. He can even be a gunner on special teams. He could be the #1 SS, #2 KR/PR, #2 RB, and #3 WR on the Panthers current roster. He would be an immediate impact at any of those positions. He is really that good, and some team is going to discover it soon. He is more athletic than anyone outside of Cam on offense, and his football smarts rival that of Greg Olsen as Wegher has also lived on a football field all his life. He is one of the fastest players on the team and he may have the best vision of any offensive player. You could think of him as a bigger, faster, more athletic version of Wes Welker. Some of you may push it to the side, but once he starts getting touches you will quickly see he surpasses any undrafted rookie free agent the Panthers have ever brought in over the organization's 20 year history. His work ethic will be hard to match even for some of the veterans. -
Ozzie Newsome will sign Santana Moss to pair with Steve Smith Sr for the Baltimore Ravens leading them to their next Super Bowl against the Carolina Panthers in Santa Clara, CA. Always wanted to see those two paired with each other. Not the same as the mid 2000s, but should be entertaining to watch those two go up after Flacco's prayer lobs. As for the Panthers getting him. Nope. Pass.

REPORT: SS Swearinger claimed by Bucs on waivers
CPantherKing replied to @bobbyagnese's topic in Carolina Panthers
And when he tells the Bucs to shove it, he will be on the waiver wire again. -
Would Smitty have made a difference for the Panthers in the playoffs? Bet you his fellow Utah alum Gross would have stayed for another season if his buddy was not treated like dirt. What would you have given for a receiver and LT like those two going into the playoffs last season? Happy B-Day Smitty! Wish you were here. Miss the mentality Gross and you brought to the offense. It was noticeably absent in 2014. And for any Panthers fan that disliked Smitty and his attitude, you must not want to win in the playoffs or a Lombardi. The players who win the Super Bowl have/had Smitty's attitude - Patriots, Seahawks, Ravens, Giants, Packers, Steelers, and Saints. You have to be nasty and get in the opponent's head to win it all.

Come on Cam!!! I know you are only the 2nd most productive 4 year QB in NFL history, but we cannot keep you unless you surpass Dan Marino and take that #1 spot for 5th year QBs. Otherwise, we will have to replace you with a QB that will not even come close to the top 10 QBs relative to their years in the NFL. First 4 years in the NFL and you have only produced over 17000 yards, which no other QB in NFL history has surpassed in their first 4 seasons, and 115 TDs! We need more from you Cam in order to believe you are a capable QB. Ridiculous. Be glad you have Cam and focus on the weak parts of the team. It is just so easy to replace a QB like Cam, right? Apparently you forget Kerry Collins, Steve Beuerlein, Jeff Lewis, Chris Weinke, Rodney Peete, Jake Delhomme, and Jimmy Clausen. So easy to replace a QB like Cam, right? Also, Cam has a 59.5% completion percentage. Peyton Manning and Dan Marino both were at 61%. Andrew Luck is at 58.5%. They all have errant throws. Then you factor in that Cam has one of the lowest INT% of all these QBs in their first 4 years in the NFL. He throws fewer interceptions than the greats, and even the golden boy Andrew Luck on a per game basis. You would have questioned hall of fame QBs like Jim Kelly, John Elway, Joe Montana, Warren Moon and Troy Aikman based on their production over the first 4 years of their career. The difference is those QBs had better coaching and teams surrounding them, which allowed them to get to the Super Bowl early in their careers. Some of them never even won a Super Bowl or they had to wait to win it at the end of their career.

Very nice. I would love to see Funchess work the slot in 3 receiver sets. He will be difficult to defend over the middle. If it all works out with the Hill project: Benjamin on the outside in single receiver sets. Benjamin and Funchess in 2 receiver sets. Benjamin and Hill on the outside with Funchess in the slot on 3 receiver sets.

Anyone else a little worried about DE?
CPantherKing replied to OneBadCat's topic in Carolina Panthers
Then I will add that Addison played in all 16 games and 45% of the defensive snaps for the season compared to Ealy's 15 games and 35% of the defensive snaps. Not to mention Addison out produced Ealy in sacks, pressures, and tackles. Add that to the playoff games, and Kony Ealy is dead last on the depth chart at DE outside of the undrafted rookie that was brought in recently. Kony Ealy had all season to make an impact and elevate himself to #2. Never happened on the field no matter how much anyone wants to believe he is the future. He could not get past Addison or Horton on that depth chart. -

CPantherKing replied to OneBadCat's topic in Carolina Panthers
And I do not understand how some elevate Kony Ealy into a starter spot. Ealy is still the #5 DE on the depth chart. 1 Charles Johnson 2 Frank Alexander 3 Wes Horton 4 Mario Addison 5 Kony Ealy Addison was the one who got the playing time against Seattle in the playoffs. Not Ealy.
