What’s your pitch to Aaron Rodgers to come to Carolina
CPantherKing replied to Leotiger's topic in Carolina Panthers
Hey, Aaron Rodgers! We'll give you full control of the team. You can go head to head with Tom Brady. You can personally fire Matt Rhule and have your say in coaching staff. Any player you personally recruit we will sign. You create the winning culture and we follow. Have fun for 2 or 3 years. and we'll talk again. When you do a great job, we'll hire you as GM once you retire from the game. -
NFLPA Collegiate Bowl is tomorrow. Practice has been good. Better coaching and talented mentors than the Senior Bowl. Marvin Lewis, Jeff Fisher, Wade Phillips, Rod Woodson, Jackie Slater, Vontaze Burfict, Jeff Blake, Seneca Wallace, and Nate Washington working with these prospects. Competent coaching with experienced package installations. If the prospects can work with these true leaders (not Lions and Jets coaching staffs) and shine, you should take notice. QBs: Aqeel Glass, Alabama A&M; Chris Oladokun, South Dakota St; Chase Garbers, California; Brandon Peters, Illinois; Cole Kelley, Southeastern Louisiana; Davis Cheek, Elon University, Zerrick Cooper, Jacksonville St. Several ACC players on the roster. Includes UNC OL Marcus McKethan who was Sam Howell's OL of choice to run behind for 828 yards and 11 TD.

I know who the small school QBs are. Thanks.
-
Nice list. Guessing you did not look at Chris Oladokun. Wondering if you gave the big school QBs an advantage because of their competition. Small school QBs will be the better NFL QBs coming out of this draft. Bailey, Glass, Eleby, and Oladokun.
-
Pickett will be a bust. Howell is an NFL 2 or 3. Definitely better than PJ Walker. Not better than Sam Darnold. Darnold has a long career as a #2 in the NFL if he wants that.
-
You have an above average starter in Cam and an average to below average starter in Darnold. Both Cam and Sam would be the #1 QB in this draft when comparing their college tape to the likes of Pickett, Howell, Willis, Strong, Ridder, and Corral. The good QBs are hidden in this draft because they played for small schools.
-
Not every QB. Just the ones being talked about as the top QBs in this draft.
-
Thought this was about Howell. Lol Counted 8 high performing plays by Pickett all game. Keep seeing the same thing from him, and I don't want Pickett. I want Addison and Bartholomew. Pickett rides Addison a lot for his production. Also, he needs capable pass catching TEs to not go into panic mode. Reminds me of Newton with his passing and Darnold with his pocket presence. Then throw in those gloves on the NFL level. No thank you. His Miami game that followed this was even worse, and he was unimpressive against UNC. He is a project. Obvious why his stats made the leap in 2021 from what he did the previous 4 seasons.

Devin Lloyd at MLB if you want the most impactful player for a team who will change games and elevate the play of everyone on defense to a championship level. Tyler Linderbaum if you want a franchise leader for your OL. Drafting Devin Lloyd and Jon Ridgeway would solve the run game issues and change the defense to carry just about any offense. Both would emerge as defensive leaders. I want offensive leaders too, but I can't pass up on Devin Lloyd.

'20 Cam vs. '21 Garoppolo (and '19) (+ a Darnold tidbit)
CPantherKing replied to Dory's topic in Carolina Panthers
Cam has demonstrated he is an improved passer. I don't know why anyone would think he was a better passer early in his career. Thinking people have watched too many highlight videos from the past. Yes, Cam is a capable playoff starting QB. He has a few more years imo. He just needs to find a coach who wants to work with him. His issue under Rhule was coming in mid season and having to play with a limited playbook. Clearly not on the same page as his receivers. Obviously better than Darnold. Should have finished out the season, but Rhule was trying hard to prove Darnold was better with just a small success. That success never came for Darnold. Cam was the better QB coming off the couch. -
uhhh. Has to be a joke. This is not Howell.

What I see is the Panthers being in the bottom 10 when it comes to the salary cap. I look at cap space available per loss. Teams like the Packers, Rams, Bills, and Cowboys don't have to focus on the cap space to be competitive because they already have the players to win. Can't compare their cap situation to teams who have paid for players who can't win. A team needs draft capital and cap space to turn a team around unless you have a genius coach with a magical clip board. Rhule is far from a wizard. Likely need to spend more money than other teams to get the players who can carry Rhule. So, our coaches are bottom 10 and our financial gurus are bottom 10. No wonder why we will be a decade long loser.

What @TheCasillas is trying to say is... Suleiman is doing a great job. It's working. We just can't see it yet.
-
He is the finance guy Tepper brought with him from Pittsburgh. Not sure he has any player evaluation experience. He deals with players' agents. Might as well join in the clown show when it comes to learning on the job. Sign him up for several scouting camps, unless he's just evaluating players by spreadsheets and numbers like the length of the OTs arms.
-
No, I wouldn't want him at QB on the NFL level. Enjoyed watching him play college ball though.
-
Howell is not jittery in the pocket. He is short and can't see over his line. He has 2 reads through the gaps his OL are suppose to open up. If those passing lanes get closed up by the DL, he must leave the pocket. He is not a finesse runner, so he will scramble off tackle, look to set his feet once for a pass, and then put his head down to run like a full back. He is good for 4 to 8 sacks per game regardless of the OL and allows the ball to be an easy target for forced fumbles when he runs. Good arm, but he rarely threatens the entire field allowing defenses to easily cheat their responsibilities and coverages.
-
UNC is my school. I watch and they disappoint. Not sure what you consider weapons, but the Heels haven't done well at recruiting top talent offensive weapons for a while. Sam Howell is a good college QB. At best he's a journeyman backup in the NFL.
-
Howell is not like a Russel Wilson, Kyler Murray, or Patrick Mahomes. Those are QBs who rely on their short stop athleticism to maneuver defenders and get receivers open. Howell is a Colt McCoy, Taysom Hill, The Golden Calf of Bristol, Michael Bishop type.
-
Howell's QB style won't work well on the NFL level. He limits an offense with what they can do. He needs to spread out a defense and have speed receivers to throw to in lanes. Pats the ball too much. His height plus his wind up into his release will be too easy for NFL edge rushers. He won't be able to utilize his running style in the NFL without concussion protocols. He doesn't translate well to the NFL, and the type of limited offense you'd need to build around him doesn't do well in the NFL. Mack Brown loves a Colt McCoy type QB and track meet WRs.

This is the QB I want to draft. Winning: 30 wins. Over 8 yards per attempt each season for the last 3 seasons. Thick skin: A teen coming from multiple cultures. Raised in the heart of social turmoil. Seeing both sides. Caring for community while feeling their personal pain. Setting an example for and preparing everyone around them when times are bad while moving forward to a better day. Work ethic: Has been getting up at 5AM for a decade to be a key contributor to society, perfect their business acumen, and develop their football skills and technique. Football smarts: 4:1 TD to INT ratio over the past 3 seasons. Began studying Mike Leach's Air Raid offensive system at age 8 with adult mentors. Implementing that system at age 9. Mastering that system at age 10. Innate ability: Great field vision. Quickest releases in the league. Comfortable in a pocket under pressure. Power to deliver a rope and touch to drop a dime. Can quickly presnap read a defense. Consistently throws receivers open and hits them in full stride. Reacts by reflex to take a loss and play another down. Prepared, confident, and consistent in converting 3rd/4th and long plays with the pass. Carriage: Same cool and focused QB under pressure play after play for all 4 quarters whether their team is blowing a team out, in a shootout, or getting blown out. Leadership: Allows players and coaches around them to perform beyond their highest individual level by shouldering the complexities with confidence and allowing everyone to not overthink, see the game in its simplest form, and enjoy their play on the field. Effortlessly leading their coaches, players, and community while setting a culture that attracts the best talent in the league to want to play with them and for them. This QB is in the draft.

You won't be getting the mirage that was Kenny Pickett 2021. You'll be getting Kenny Pickett 2019/2020. Jordan Addison was the 2021 Pitt offense. He'll make the next QB look just as good as he did Pickett.
-
So, these are the only QBs worth anything in this draft? I think not. Going to be another 2012 draft with the experts ridiculing teams that "reach" for Russell Wilson and Nick Foles in the the 3rd and Kirk Cousins in the 4th. Who would want championship leadership QBs with high football IQs? Give me Andrew Luck, RG3, Ryan Tannehill, Brandon Weeden and Brock Osweiler. In 2022, the teams that pick Aqeel Glass, Bailey Zappe, and Kaleb Eleby will be mocked. Give me Kenny Pickett, Malik Willis, Sam Howell, Matt Coral, Carson Strong, and Desmond Rider everyone will say. My expectation is a similar outcome from the QBs in this draft.
