The possibilities!! AAAHAHHSHDHD
-
If the top-4 truly go QB, Chase or Sewell will end up a Panther. Pitts is not making it past Miami. Cinci is either Sewell or Chase. If they go Sewell, then I wonder if the Saints don't make a deal. If CIN goes Chase, Sewell is falling to us IMO.
-
So then amended w/the Saints news: 5-Chase 6-Pitts 7-Bama WR 8-Sewell
-
If so.... 5-Chase/Sewell 6-Pitts 7-Chase/Wildcard/Fields trade/Have no clue -- Pitts is the only for sure to go ahead of our pick if your rumor rings true. That means one of Chase, Fields, or Sewell will be available. Will be interesting to see what goes down!
-
Wouldn't it be great if this flood of leaks about us high on CBs is to actually ensure Sewell or someone falls? Could be some grade-A stealthiness by our new boy Fit.
-
If the SF staff has convinced Shanahan to roll the dice with Lance, then floodgates are opened. I see DET and ATL taking calls if other teams they think we'd grab him. Then we land Sewell! 1-Lawrence 2-Wilson 3-Lance 4-Fields 5-Chase 6-Pitts 7-*trade up-Jones 8-Sewell This would be ideal.

Honestly, I wouldn't take #3 for Darnold and #8. They kind of screwed it up IMO.

What Are You Going To Be Upset About If We Draft A
saX man replied to OceanPanther's topic in Carolina Panthers
Although maybe we're targeting a starting LG in R2. We could have a new legion of boom in Surtain-Jackson-Bouye-Burris-Chinn And then a brand spankinf new Leatherwood at LG. LT may just not be ideal this year after Sewell. There's been so little on A-T and Christian that I don't know about them. -

All signs point to CB and that everyone gets really mad about no tackles. -
LTs & arm length (basically: This draft's OTs are great but...)

First post: "I don't believe arms length to be make or break" Follow-up: "I'm posing the question with the thread. Appreciate the points about leverage by come and the apt comp to Gross. But it is true some staff's do in fact look at arm length as it is a big component to the position. But as with everything it's one of many and countless exceptions to the rule are found that make up for it like Jason Peters, Joe Thomas, Jordan Gross as I mentioned." I legit identified the variables and gave credence to them. Am I in crazy land or is no one trying to gauge how in consideration of priorities and all variables considered, which guy we may like most? -

You know what they say about long arms?!?! -
My guess is Pitts. Too good of a potential star to pass on if they stay put, and should if they want to start the new regime off right..which I hope they don't. Because it's the Falcons.

Yeah I think there's a line that can be drawn but it's from prospect to prospect, not an overall "must be this tall" type thing. It reaches a point where no matter the skill, a certain frame or body type will simply have trouble against the higher level competition and NFL defenses. Sewell & Slater are both absolute studs so I don't think 3/4" is anything to dwell on like you said. I however do think when you get down to the 32ish range, it becomes a bit more of an issue because then it's notable and their game needs to compensate for it. Stepping back, some guys make up for it with their footwork, agility, quickness, & technique. It just depends but when they are a bit undersized, then those top traits need to hit on all cylinders. I believe they do with Sewell and Slater for the most part. They've held their own against some of the best DEs. A bit less with Eichenberg, Cosmi, & Mayfield. I will say, the Radunz kid is pretty interesting and I like Jenkins & Darrisaw a lot. I've grown a bit wary of Cosmi and Mayfield after liking them a lot initialy. It's kind of a combo of considering their performance and stepping back and seeing their builds. -

^^jfc, I'm not saying short arms is a must. Can anyone have a nuanced convo about this? It's a thing scouts look at whether you like it or not, but like I mention, there are plenty of exceptions to the rule. -
Who are the Panther's 5 potential Trade partners?
saX man replied to Panthers Rhule's topic in Carolina Panthers
I will say, the potential partners in WAS, NE and CHI could be bad this season and they would need to package their 2022 1st rounder to move up to #8. Could easily be a top-5 pick next year. Could have 2 top-16 first rounders. Great ammo to land the top QB. It's an appealing strategy but I'd hope they have a specific player or two they're targeting in a trade down. Jenkins, Darrisaw, Horn, etc. -
The silver is still a carryover from the 90s I'd like to see gone. #desilverize

I'm posing the question with the thread. Appreciate the points about leverage by come and the apt comp to Gross. But it is true some staff's do in fact look at arm length as it is a big component to the position. But as with everything it's one of many and countless exceptions to the rule are found that make up for it like Jason Peters, Joe Thomas, Jordan Gross as I mentioned. I'm just saying with these top-2, it's something to temper expectations for. It's possible we could trade down with either Slater or Sewell available, much to the chagrin of many board members, so am tempering the mood on these guys as they'd probably be ranked 3-4ish in last year's class
