Who should we be looking at outside the "top 4" QB candidates?
saX man replied to rayzor's topic in Carolina Panthers
This is an example of what I mean. Brugler who is very much in tune with a handful of FOs and different insiders speaks so cautiously of Penix. His notable sections are about how he wasn’t considered draftable before this season, has a long delivery and is a strider. There is clearly pause in the eval community, still though I think he’s looked great. https://www.seattletimes.com/sports/uw-husky-football/is-michael-penix-jr-as-good-as-gone-assessing-the-star-husky-qbs-looming-nfl-draft-decision/ -
This would have been a record milquetoast latte reaction.

I'm mentally preparing for a few head scratchers this offseason. We've been getting used to them, they will likely continue.
-
Not to mention there was a report earlier this week that Tepper loves Levis...so be prepared thy Huddle.

At most, at the absolute most, we should kindly interview him. Then once [not Steve Wilks] is hired, see if our new HC hire would consider him for DC or an AHC/DB job like he had with Ron.

Mr Scot had a great spread on him earlier this season. I think he could definitely be one to target.

I like him for sure. Could be a top-15 pick when all is said and done ahead of Richardson & Levis. But I still don't hear much about him from my limited scouting source. There must be something team's are hesitant with about his game, but I really like what I've seen all season (Same w/Ward). Bowl season and shorts season will be huge for both him & Levis. I advise people expect McKee & Tune to be risers. -
Okay, I think I finally get it: Get mad at losing until we get mad at winning Meanwhile, convince ourselves no QB is worth it and we will dwell in mediocrity forever.

I like him. If you lay everything out there, he has most of what you want, and also looks solid on game days to back it up. Won’t lie though, does tend to have some quiet quarters or mini ruts but he does have some pretty damn passes. Quality of talent around him and his true intangibles under pressure are the big Qs. I think there’s enough on the positive side to warrant taking a swing with him. Far fewer questions than others.

He wasn't bad. He also wasn't good. Someone said it best pg 1, should've just been a bridge, but fortunately, it doesn't look like we missed on any QB talent. Just a mindless carousel. Well at least we're off the Rhule ride and starting fresh again, this year was the unfortunate wash.

Snaps are nearing even between Foreman, Hubbard and Blackshear and honestly, none look like world beaters. Seem like good dudes though. The draft and FA is LOADED this offseason. I foresee new RBs on the roster come next season. New QBs, RBs, WRs, Coaching, the whole shebang.

Got around to seeing clips; man this dude is really high on himself. I get he's trying to sell his abilities but he really doesn't take the right angles. If I were in his boat, I'd position myself filled with humility and taking lessons learned. What he admitted when he was asked about what he would do different was such a bad answer. I always felt that he had basically no relationship with our best players and he pretty much admitted to it. You just never saw CMC, Moore, or our top talent actually back him up or speak of him like they did Ron. And then Matt is like, yep, I didn't really talk to them much, finally did after a few years. And meanwhile, he's still acting like he's got some type of secrete sauce. Such a salesman. -

If someone told you at the start of last season Darnold would be our starting QB come December 2022, you'd probably think, "well hey, sounds like he just needed a new team" and not this lol The sequence has, no joke, been: Darnold to PJ to Cam 2.0 to PJ again, Cam again, Baker Mayfield, oh, and then PJ again, and then Baker again, and then..back to Darnold. I'm dizzy.

If season ended today which QB would you take.

Could very well be the case--pending the Brady & Rogers (and maybe even Stafford) decisions, the NFC's only QB sure teams are the Cowboys, Eagles, Cardinals, Vikes (maybe), & Bears (maybe) AFC has more secure QB spots but the NFC could be open season, QB wild west, and there aren't many good QBs out there. Could be a lot of big swings forthcoming. It's also why this draft may see a reverse situation compared to last year's with teams getting aggressive to get a guy they like, bet on potential and develop him. I will tell you, this class has more than a handful that are more favorable than pretty much the entire 2022 QB class per my only bird. McKee & Ward are quite liked, at the least in this one west coast FO. If you asked where Pickett fell in this class, I think you'd be surprised. -

I just can't see a new coach being comfortable with something like that. I know Minshew has been a bit of a dream bridge candidate for many fans (of multiple teams), but if you look beyond him, it's slim pickings. Thin margins at play. -

There's just no way we trade again. It's a rookie, Corral, & a Cooper Rush/Minshew type guy, with the rookie likely starting. Keep the eyes ahead. -
1-QB 2-WR - The position is just a bigger impact than TE and I don't trust who we have. We need to find a star to help propel this offense. If we can get a star TE, then sure, but otherwise, I think WR is the higher priority. 3-TE - Would love this to becoming a position of focus again in our offense. Geodart, Kelce, Andrews all seem like integral pieces to their respective teams and would be killer to find a guy. 4-IDL - Brown has been a great story but we need a 3-down smushing multi-tech guy next to him to help shore the front. 5-LB - A clear need, Shaq will be gone. Luvu and Wilson can only provide us so much. B Smith is TBD 6-DE - A fair need with YGM ain't thriving, Haynes not being a 3-down guy, and unsure if Barno has starter potential 7-RB - Foreman and Hubbard are aight but we need fresh legs 8-C - Bozeman restructure dependent 9-DB - Lumping all together due to versatility these days. 10-OG - Brady & Corbett are the starters going forward, could use depth 11-OT - Is this a parallel universe?

We currently have the #2 pick in the draft :)
saX man replied to Varking's topic in Carolina Panthers
Texans have the Browns, Colts, Titans, & Jags on their schedule...maybe one or two of those winds up a win? They're definitely getting pummeled by the Dolphins, Chiefs, and Cowboys though. Gonna be hard to catch them. If we lose the the Broncos, I can definitely see us losing out. Seahawks have been surprisingly good, Steelers & Lions are showing improvement, and then 2 divisional ones to close w/Brady and NO. Seems like 4-13 is a good bet for our final record. I'd take a gander Pick 2, 3, or 4 will end up ours. Raiders have winnables, Bears have winnables (and a QB to stick with at least another year) The Broncos and Steelers games have big implications on our future. -
Seattle sitting there with all those picks, atop their division come week 11, owning that DEN 5th overall pick. Chef's kiss to them
